My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle and are spent without hope. Remember thou that my life is wind and that my eyes shall not return to see good.
Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble. He comes forth like an open flower and is cut down; he flees as a shadow and does not remain.
LORD, make me to know my end and the measure of my days, what it is that I may know how long I am to be of this world. Behold, thou hast made my days as a handbreadth, and my age is as nothing before thee; verily every man that lives is altogether vanity. Selah.
The voice that said, Cry. And I said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the mercy thereof is as the open flower of the field: The grass withers, the flower fades because the spirit of the LORD blows upon it; surely the people is grass.
and ye do not know what shall be tomorrow. For what is your life? Certainly it is a vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
As for man, his days are as grass; as an open flower of the field, so he blossoms. For the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place shall know it no more.
Surely man walks in darkness; surely they are disquieted in vain; they heap up riches not knowing who shall gather them.
It is vain for you to rise up early, to come home late, to eat the bread of sorrows, because he shall give his beloved sleep.
For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withers the grass, and its flower falls, and the beautiful appearance of it perishes: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

We have heard the pride of Moab, (he is exceeding proud) his loftiness and his arrogancy and his pride and the haughtiness of his heart. I know his wrath, saith the LORD, but it shall have no effect; his lies shall not be to his advantage.
He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He has put down the mighty from their thrones and exalted the humble.

which things have indeed a show of wisdom in will worship and humility and neglecting of the body, but they have absolutely no value against the appetites of the flesh.
Bring no more vain oblations; the incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot stand them; iniquity and the solemn meeting.

If anyone's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss, but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire.
For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them, but it did not profit those that heard the word without mixing it with faith.
And every one that hears these words of mine and does not do them shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand; and the rain descended, and the rivers came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it.
When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and catches away that which was sown in his heart. This is he who was planted beside the way. But he that was planted in stony places, the same is he that hears the word and receives it immediately with joy; yet he has no root in himself but is temporal, for when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, by and by he is offended.read more.
And he that was planted among the thorns is he that hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if anyone hears the word and does not put it into practice, this same is like unto the man beholding his natural face in a mirror: For he considered himself and went his way and in one hour forgot what he was like.
This evil people that refuses to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart and went after other gods to serve them and to worship them shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.
When the wicked man dies, his hope perishes, and the hope of unjust men shall perish.
Thus hath the LORD of the hosts said; The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly cast down, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and peoples and nations shall labour in vain in the fire to save her, and they shall become weary.
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
But I said, I have laboured in vain; I have spent my strength for nothing, and in vain; yet surely my judgment is before the LORD and my recompense with my God.
knowing that ye have been ransomed from your vain conversation (which you received from your fathers), not with corruptible things like silver and gold,
If a man, therefore, purges himself from these things, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and profitable for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
