And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast plenty of goods laid up for many years, take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

especially those who walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise authority; who, being audacious and self-willed, are not afraid to speak evil of dignities:

Come now, ye that say, To-day or to-morrow we will go to such a city, and spend a year there, and trade and get gain;

But he, that disowneth me before men, shall be disowned before the angels of God.

As much as she hath glorified herself and indulged to luxury, so much torment and sorrow give her; because she saith in her heart, I sit as a queen, I am not a widow, and I shall see no sorrow. Therefore in one day shall her plagues come, even death and mourning and famine; and she shall be burnt with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

Then were brought to Him little children, that He might put his hands upon them, and bless them: and the disciples rebuked them;

And they brought to Him infants also, that He might touch them: and his disciples seeing it rebuked them.

Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence and given to the poor?

but when his disciples saw it, they were some of them provoked at it, and said, Wherefore is this waste? for this ointment might have been sold for a great deal of money, and given to the poor.

And there were some provoked at it and said, Why was this waste made of the ointment? For it might have been sold for above three hundred pence, and given to the poor. And they inveighed against her.

because thou sayst, I am rich, and wealthy, and have want of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.

And they that passed by reviled Him, shaking their heads and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest, the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself and come down from the cross. And the chief priests likewise scoffing at Him among themselves, with the scribes, said, He saved others, Himself He cannot save: let Christ, read more.
the king of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe in Him. And even they that were crucified with Him, reviled Him.

The pharisee standing by himself prayed thus, O God, I thank thee that I am not as other men are, rapacious, unjust, adulterous, or even as this publican.

And from that time began Jesus to acquaint his disciples, that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, and chief priests, and scribes; and be put to death, and be raised again on the third day. Then Peter took Him and began to expostulate with Him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: may this never be unto thee. But He turned and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan, thou art an offence to me; for thou regardest not the things of God, but those that be of men.

And this He spake plainly and openly. Upon which Peter began to rebuke Him.

And Peter turning about seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved, (and who leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, who is he that will betray Thee?) following them; and upon seeing him, Peter saith to Jesus, Lord, what shall this man do? Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he stay till I come, what is it to thee? Follow thou me.

who though they knew the just judgement of God, (that they who commit such practises are worthy of death) yet not only do these very things, but also countenance and encourage others in the practice of them.
