'Life' in the Bible

You reveal the path of life to me;in Your presence is abundant joy;in Your right hand are eternal pleasures.

With Your hand, Lord, save me from men,from men of the worldwhose portion is in this life:You fill their bellies with what You have in store;their sons are satisfied,and they leave their surplus to their children.

He asked You for life, and You gave it to him—length of days forever and ever.

Deliver my life from the sword,my only life from the power of these dogs.

All who prosper on earth will eat and bow down;all those who go down to the dustwill kneel before Him—even the one who cannot preserve his life.

He renews my life;He leads me along the right pathsfor His name’s sake.

Only goodness and faithful love will pursue meall the days of my life,and I will dwell in the house of the Lordas long as I live.

He will live a good life,and his descendants will inherit the land.

Do not destroy me along with sinners,or my life along with men of bloodshed

Davidic.The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom should I fear?The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom should I be afraid?

I have asked one thing from the Lord;it is what I desire:to dwell in the house of the Lordall the days of my life,gazing on the beauty of the Lordand seeking Him in His temple.

I will rejoice and be glad in Your faithful lovebecause You have seen my affliction.You have known the troubles of my life

Indeed, my life is consumed with griefand my years with groaning;my strength has failedbecause of my sinfulness,and my bones waste away.

I have heard the gossip of many;terror is on every side.When they conspired against me,they plotted to take my life.

The course of my life is in Your power;deliver me from the power of my enemiesand from my persecutors.

Who is the man who delights in life,loving a long life to enjoy what is good?

The Lord redeems the life of His servants,and all who take refuge in Him will not be punished.

Lord, how long will You look on?Rescue my life from their ravages,my only one from the young lions.

Those who seek my life set traps,and those who want to harm me threaten to destroy me;they plot treachery all day long.

“Lord, reveal to me the end of my lifeand the number of my days.Let me know how short-lived I am.

You, indeed, have made my days short in length,and my life span as nothing in Your sight.Yes, every mortal man is only a vapor.Selah

Let those who seek to take my lifebe disgraced and confounded.Let those who wish me harmbe driven back and humiliated.

The Lord will send His faithful love by day;His song will be with me in the night—a prayer to the God of my life.

But God will redeem my lifefrom the power of Sheol,for He will take me.Selah

For strangers rise up against me,and violent men seek my life.They have no regard for God.Selah

God is my helper;the Lord is the sustainer of my life.

They stir up strife, they lurk;they watch my stepswhile they wait to take my life.

For You delivered me from death,even my feet from stumbling,to walk before God in the light of life.

Add days to the king’s life;may his years span many generations.

My lips will glorify Youbecause Your faithful love is better than life.

But those who seek to destroy my lifewill go into the depths of the earth.

Let them be erased from the book of lifeand not be recorded with the righteous.

Let those who seek my lifebe disgraced and confounded;let those who wish me harmbe driven back and humiliated.

Do not give the life of Your dove to beasts;do not forget the lives of Your poor people forever.

Protect my life, for I am faithful.You are my God; save Your servant who trusts in You.

Bring joy to Your servant’s life,because I turn to You, Lord.

For Your faithful love for me is great,and You deliver my life from the depths of Sheol.

God, arrogant people have attacked me;a gang of ruthless men seeks my life.They have no regard for You.

For I have had enough troubles,and my life is near Sheol.

Remember how short my life is.Have You created everyone for nothing?

You end their lives; they sleep.They are like grass that grows in the morning—

I will satisfy him with a long lifeand show him My salvation.

They band together against the life of the righteousand condemn the innocent to death.

I say: “My God, do not take mein the middle of my life!Your years continue through all generations.

He redeems your life from the Pit;He crowns you with faithful love and compassion.

I will sing to the Lord all my life;I will sing praise to my God while I live.

I told You about my life,and You listened to me;teach me Your statutes.

Turn my eyesfrom looking at what is worthless;give me life in Your ways.

How I long for Your precepts!Give me life through Your righteousness.

This is my comfort in my affliction:Your promise has given me life.

Your statutes are the theme of my songduring my earthly life.

They almost ended my life on earth,but I did not abandon Your precepts.

Give me life in accordance with Your faithful love,and I will obey the decree You have spoken.

I will never forget Your precepts,for You have given me life through them.

I am severely afflicted;Lord, give me life through Your word.

My life is constantly in danger,yet I do not forget Your instruction.

In keeping with Your faithful love, hear my voice.Lord, give me life in keeping with Your justice.

Defend my cause and redeem me;give me life as You promised.

Your compassions are many, Lord;give me life according to Your judgments.

Consider how I love Your precepts;Lord, give me life according to Your faithful love.

The Lord will protect you from all harm;He will protect your life.

May the Lord bless you from Zion,so that you will see the prosperity of Jerusalemall the days of your life

It is like the dew of Hermonfalling on the mountains of Zion.For there the Lord has appointed the blessing—life forevermore.

If I walk into the thick of danger,You will preserve my lifefrom the anger of my enemies.You will extend Your hand;Your right hand will save me.

I will praise the Lord all my life;I will sing to my God as long as I live.
