Therefore be thou converted unto thy God; keep mercy and judgment, and in thy God wait continually.

He has declared unto thee, O man, what is good and what the LORD requires of thee: only to do right judgment, and to love mercy, and to humble thyself to walk with thy God.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin and have omitted that which is more important of the law: judgment, mercy, and faith; these were expedient for ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs and pass over the judgment and the charity of God; these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that has nothing to be ashamed of, rightly dividing the word of truth.

I commend unto you Phebe our sister, who is a servant of the congregation which is at Cenchrea, that ye receive her in the Lord as a worthy saint, and that ye assist her in whatever thing in which she has need of you, for she has been a helper of many and of myself also.

Therefore as long as we have the opportunity, let us do good unto everyone, especially unto those who are of the household of faith.

Let each one according to the gift that he has received, administer it unto the others, as a good steward of the diverse graces of God.

Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith and in word and in knowledge and in all diligence and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also. I speak not as commanding, but by occasion of the diligence of others and to prove the sincerity of your charity. Most men will proclaim each one his own mercy, but who can find a man of truth?

Help, LORD; for the merciful man ceases, for the faithful fail from among the children of men. Each one speaks vanity with his neighbour: they speak with flattering lips and with a double heart.

The righteous perishes, and no man lays it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.

The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked; who shall know it?
