But the publican standing at a distance did not presume so much as to lift up his eyes to heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, O God, be merciful to me a sinner.

For if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son; much more being reconciled shall we be saved by his life.

because the carnal mind is an enemy to God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be:

And you hath he made alive who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which ye formerly walked after the manner of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that still operates in the children of disobedience: among whom also we were all conversant heretofore in our carnal desires, indulging the appetites of the flesh and of our imaginations; and were by nature children of wrath, even as others.

in the vanity of their mind, darkened in their understanding, and alienated from the life of God, through the ignorance that is in them, by reason of the hardness of their heart:

And you that were formerly alienated, and enemies in your mind by wicked works,

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity to God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

But all these things are from God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and made us ministers of the reconciliation; to declare, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing to them their trespasses, and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

For when we were yet without strength, Christ died in due season for the ungodly. Whereas one would hardly die for a just man, though perhaps for a good man one might dare even to die. But God recommendeth his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

but when the fulness of the time came, God sent forth his Son born of a woman made under the law, that He might redeem those that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

But God being rich in mercy, through his great love wherewith He loved us, hath made us alive in Christ, even when we were dead in trespasses, (for by grace ye are saved) and hath raised us up together,

Herein is love; not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent his Son to be a propitiation for our sins.

And we are witnesses of all things that He did, both in the country of Judea, and in the city of Jerusalem: whom notwithstanding they put to death, hanging Him on a tree. Him God raised up the third day, and gave Him to be seen openly; not to all the people, but to witnesses before appointed by God, even to us, who did eat and drink with Him, after He rose from the dead. And He commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is He who is appointed by God to be judge of the living and of the dead. To Him do all the prophets bear witness, that whosoever believeth on Him shall receive the forgiveness of their sins through his name. While Peter was yet speaking these words, the holy Spirit fell upon all them that heard the word. And those of the circumcision that were believers, who came with Peter, were astonished, that the gift of the holy Spirit was conferred upon the Gentiles also: for they heard them speaking in divers languages, and glorifying God.

For He is our peace, who hath made both one, and removed the wall of partition from between us; having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that He might form the two into one new man, in Himself, so making peace; and that He might reconcile both in one body unto God, by the cross, having thereby slain the enmity:read more.

through whom also we have admission by faith into this grace in which we stand, and boast in hope of the glory of God.

For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.

by whom we have freedom and access with confidence through faith in Him.

Having therefore, brethren, free admission into the holy places by the blood of Jesus, the new and living way which He hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh, and having a great high-priest over the house of God,read more.
let us draw near with sincerity, in the full assurance of faith, having our hearts cleansed from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. So that the Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

for if the rejecting of them be the reconciling of the world, what will the receiving them again be but life from the dead?

in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the remission of sins, according to the riches of his grace; wherein He hath abounded towards us with the highest wisdom and prudence; having made known to us the secret of his will, according to his good pleasure, which He had before purposed in Himself:read more.
that in the dispensation of the fulness of times, He might reduce all things, both in heaven and on earth, under one head in Christ:

But all these things are from God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and made us ministers of the reconciliation; to declare, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing to them their trespasses, and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. We are therefore ambassadors for Christ, and as God exhorteth you by us, we intreat you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
