Every man praying or prophesying, having a veil on his head, dishonoureth Him who is his head.
But every woman praying or prophesying with her head unveiled dishonoureth man her head; for it is even all one as if she were shaved. For if a woman be not covered, she may as well be shorn: but if it be shameful to a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be covered.
For a man indeed ought not to have his head covered, he being the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
Wherefore judge nothing before the time; even until the Lord come, who will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every one have praise from God.
Be not therefore afraid of them; for there is nothing hid, that shall not be revealed; nor secret, that shall not be made known.
which shall not be discovered; nor hidden which shall not be known.
every man's work shall be made manifest. For the great day will shew it; because it will be discovered by fire, and the fire will prove every man's work of what sort it is.
and do not as Moses, who put a veil upon his face, intimating that the children of Israel could not look to the end of that which was to be abolished; but their minds were blinded:
for unto this day the same veil remaineth unremoved in the reading of the old testament, which veil is taken away in Christ. But to this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart.
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
in the vanity of their mind, darkened in their understanding, and alienated from the life of God, through the ignorance that is in them, by reason of the hardness of their heart:
But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, that hidden wisdom which God ordained before the worlds for our glory: which none of the rulers of this age knew; for if they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written, "Eye hath not seen, and ear hath not heard, nor have entered into the heart of man, what things God hath prepared for those that love Him."read more.
But God hath revealed them to us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, even the deep things of God.
even that mystery which was hid from former ages and generations, but is now manifested to his saints:
Now to Him that is able to establish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, (conformable to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret in former times, but is now manifested, and made known to all nations by the writings of the prophets, according to the appointment of the eternal God,
Though when it turneth unto the Lord, the veil is taken off: now the Lord is that Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all with unveiled face beholding, as in a glass, the glory of the Lord, are transformed according to the same image from glory to glory, as proceeding from the Spirit of the Lord.
having made known to us the secret of his will, according to his good pleasure, which He had before purposed in Himself:
that by immediate revelation He made known to me the mystery, (as I wrote before in brief, by which, when ye read it, ye may perceive my knowledge in the mystery of Christ,) which in other generations was not made known to men, as it is now revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; that the Gentiles should be co-heirs,read more.
and of the same body, and joint-partakers of his promise in Christ, by the gospel:
but now made manifest by the appearance of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light by the gospel: for which I was appointed an herald,
in hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before all ages; and hath in his own times manifested his word, by the preaching, with which I was intrusted according to the commandment of God our Saviour:
For the earnest expectation of the world is waiting for the revelation of the sons of God:
Beloved, we are now the children of God, but it doth not yet appear what we shall be: we know however, that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.
