Through the disobedience of one man many have been made sinners. Yet through the obedience of one man many will be made righteous.

You will not die, the serpent said to the woman. God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened. Then you will be like God, knowing good and evil. When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened. They realized they were naked. They sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. The man and his wife heard the sound (voice) of Jehovah God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day. They hid from Jehovah, among the trees of the garden. But Jehovah God called to the man: Where are you? He (Adam) answered: I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid. And he said: Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from? Adam said: The woman you put here with me gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it. Then Jehovah God said to the Eve: What is this you have done? The woman answered: The serpent deceived me, and I ate. So Jehovah God said to the serpent: Because you have done this you are cursed above all the livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity (hostility) (hatred) between you and the woman, and between your offspring (seed) and hers. He will bruise (overwhelm) (crush) you in the head, and you will bruise (overwhelm) (crush) him in the heel. (Romans 16:20) He said to the woman: I will greatly increase your pains in childbirth; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you. He said to Adam: Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,' cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you. You will eat the plants of the field. You will eat your food by the sweat of your brow until you return to the ground. You came from the ground. For dust you are and to dust you will return. Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living. Jehovah God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. Jehovah said: The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever. Therefore Jehovah God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.
Therefore, through one-man sin entered into the world, and death through sin. So death passed to all men, for all have sinned.
But the Scriptures shut up (imprisoned) (pictured) all things (mankind) under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
And what for? Just as sin reigned in death, even so might grace reign through righteousness to everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Indeed, I was born in perversity (mischief) (evil). I was a sinner when my mother conceived me.
The wicked go astray from the womb. They are wayward as soon as they are born. They speak lies.
Jehovah saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become. Every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.
Jehovah smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: Never again will I curse the ground because of man, for the intent of his heart is evil from childhood. I will never again destroy every living creature, as I have done.
The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately corrupt. Who can understand it?
Evil thoughts come from the heart! Thoughts about murder, adultery, fornication, theft, lying, and slander come from the heart!
It is from the heart that evil thoughts come such as: fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries,
We all once lived in the lust of our flesh, indulging the desires (lusts) of the flesh and of the mind. We were by nature children of anger and violent passion, like everyone else.
The mind of sinful flesh (fleshly thought) means death; but the mind influenced by the Spirit gives life and peace. This is because the mind of the flesh is hostile toward God. It is not subject to the law of God for it cannot be. Those influenced by the sinful flesh cannot please God.
Now the works of the flesh (sinful human nature) are apparent. They are: fornication, uncleanness, loose conduct, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, wrath, contentions, divisions, sects, envies, drunkenness, revelries, and things like these. I forewarn you, even as I did forewarn you, that those who practice such things would not inherit the kingdom of God.
Are we Jews in any better condition than the people of the nations? Not at all! I have already shown that Jews and the people of the nations are all under the power of sin. The Scriptures say: There is no one who is righteous, There is no one who has insight. No one seeks God!read more.
All have turned away from God; they have all done wrong. No one does what is right, not even one. (Psalm 53:3) Their throat is an open grave. They have practiced deceit with their tongues. The poison of snakes is under their lips. (Psalm 5:9) Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. (Psalm 10:7) Their feet are swift to shed blood. (Proverbs 1:15) Destruction and misery are in their ways. (Isaiah 59:7) They have not known the way of peace. (Isaiah 59:7, 8) There is no respect (reverence) for God before their eyes. (Psalm 36:1) We know that whatever the law says, it speaks to those under the law. Every mouth may be stopped and the entire world may become liable to God for punishment.
There is nothing truthful in what they say! Their inward part is destruction. Their throat is an open grave. They flatter with their tongue.
His mouth is full of curses, deception, and oppression. Trouble and wrongdoing are on the tip of his tongue.
([Psalm of David]) The fool says in his heart: There is no God (Jehovah) (Psalm 10:4). They are corrupt. They do disgusting things. No one does good things. Jehovah looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there is anyone who acts wisely, if there is anyone who seeks help from God. Everyone has turned away. Together they have become rotten to the core. No one, not even one person, does good things.
([Psalm of David]) The fool has said in his heart: There is no God (Jehovah)*. They are corrupt and have done abominable (detestable) iniquity. There are none who do good. (*Possible deliberate scribal change from YHWH to Elohim) God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any who understand and seek God. Every one of them has gone back: they are totally corrupted (filthy). None do good, no, not one.
([Psalm of David]) Sin speaks to the ungodly deep within his heart. There is no reverence for God before his eyes.
They make their tongues as sharp as a snake's fang. Their lips hide the venom of poisonous snakes.
Their feet run to do evil. They hurry to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are evil. Ruin and destruction are on their highways. They do not know the way of peace. There is no justice on their highways. They made their paths crooked. Those who walk on them will never know peace.
For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God
The earth was corrupt in God's sight. It was full of violence. God saw how corrupt the earth had become. All the people on earth had corrupted their ways.
They may sin against you, for everyone sins. You may become angry with them and hand them over to an enemy far or near who takes them to another country as captives.

We are all like sheep. We have gone astray! Each of us has turned to his own way. Jehovah has caused the iniquity (sin) of all of us to be laid on him.

They are filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, unforgiving, and unmerciful. They know the judgment of God, that those who commit such things are worthy of death! And yet, they not only do the same, but also approve of those who do them.
We all stumble in many things. If any do not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able to restrain (control) the whole body.
If You, Jehovah, should record our sins, O Jehovah, who could stand?
Do not enter into judgment with your servant, for in your sight no man living is righteous.
All of us have become unclean, and all our righteous acts are like permanently stained rags. All of us wither like leaves, and our sins carry us away like the wind. No one calls on your name or tries to hold on to you. You have hidden your face from us. You allowed us be ruined by our sins.
Jesus answered him: Why are you questioning me about what is good? There is one who is good. If you desire life, obey the Law.
This is the ACCOUNT OF NOAH. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time. He walked with God.
Jehovah did this because David had done what was right in Jehovah's eyes. He obeyed his commandments, except in the case of Uriah the Hittite.
We do not have a high priest who is not able to sympathize with our infirmities (weaknesses). He was tested in all things like ourselves. Yet he was without sin!
He committed no sin and deception was not found in him.
He was buried like a criminal in a rich mans grave. He had done no wrong, nor was any deceit in his mouth.
The centurion saw what was done and glorified God, saying: Certainly this was a righteous man.
He made the one who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf. That way we might become the righteousness of God in him.
Such a high priest as this was suitable for us. He is holy, harmless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and higher than the heavens.
You know that he appeared to take away sins. There is no sin in him!
