Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion walks about, seeking whom he may devour (consume).

Guard your heart with all diligence for out of it come the source of life.

Watch out for the false prophets. They are disguised as sheep. But in their hearts they are vicious wolves.

Pay attention, you stupid (senseless) people! When will you become wise, you fools?

Hear instruction, do not refuse it and be wise. Blessed is the man who listens to me. He watches daily at my gates, waiting at my doorposts.

Watch and pray continually that you do not enter into temptation!

To avoid temptation watch and pray. The spirit truly is willing but the flesh is weak.

Be careful! When God spoke to you from the fire, he was invisible.

If you obey Jehovah he will keep the promise he made when he told me, 'Your descendants will rule Israel as long as they are careful to obey my commands faithfully with all their heart and being.'

Jesus said: Be careful, do not covet, for life does not come from your possessions.

Jesus told his disciples: Things that cause people to stumble do happen. However it is a terrible thing for someone to make them happen! It would be better for him to have a large millstone tied around his neck and be thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin. So watch how you behave. Admonish your brother to repent when he sins. Forgive him when he repents.

Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall.

Brothers, if someone is caught in any kind of wrongdoing, those of you who are spiritual should set him right. But you must do it in a gentle way. And keep an eye on yourselves, so that you will not be tempted, too.

Be on your guard! Make sure you do not forget, as long as you live, what you have seen with your own eyes. Teach them to your children and your grandchildren.

Be sure you obey the Law that Moses commanded you. Love Jehovah your God. Do his will. Obey his commandments and be faithful to him. Serve him with all your heart and with all your being (Nephesh: living being).

Do what Jehovah your God orders you to do. Obey all his laws and commands, as written in the Law of Moses. That way wherever you go you may prosper in everything you do.

Pay close attention to the things heard so we do not drift away.

Be careful, then, and do not refuse to hear him who speaks. Those who refused to hear the one who gave the divine message on earth did not escape. How much less shall we escape then, if we turn away from the one who speaks from heaven!

We have the word of prophecy made sure (steadfast) (firm)! You do well that you pay attention [to God's Word] as you would to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns, and the daystar rises, in your hearts.

We prayed to God and stationed men on watch against them day and night.

I said to them: Do not let the doors of Jerusalem be open till the sun is high and when the watchmen are in their places. Shut the doors and lock them. Let the people of Jerusalem be responsible for the watch, every one in his watch near his house.

O Jehovah, set a guard at my mouth. Keep watch over the door of my lips.

He who keeps his mouth (watches what he says) keeps his life. He who opens wide his lips (speaks thoughtlessly) will have destruction.

He who guards his mouth and holds his tongue stays out of trouble.

If any man thinks he is religious, while he does not control his tongue but deceives his heart, this man's religion is vain (worthless) (useless).

The tongue also is a little member. It boasts great things. Consider how great a forest fire a small fire kindles! The tongue is like fire, the place of iniquity among our members. It defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of our life. It is set ablaze like the ever-burning fires in the Valley of Hinnom (Greek: Gehenna: symbolic of total destruction). Every kind of beast and bird, of creeping things and things in the sea, is tamed, and has been tamed by mankind.read more.
But no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil. It is full of deadly poison.

Whoever would love life and see good days should keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.

My eyes are always on Jehovah. He removes my feet from traps.

O my strength, I watch for you! God is my stronghold, my merciful God!

To You I lift up my eyes, O you who are enthroned in the heavens! Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to Jehovah our God, until he is gracious to us.

But as for me, I will look to Jehovah! I will wait for the God of my salvation! My God will hear me.

There was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout. He was waiting for God to save Israel. God's Holy Spirit was working in him.

Continue steadfastly in prayer, being vigilant with thanksgiving. Pray also for us that God may open to us a door for the word, to speak the secret of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned.

Be awake (beware) (be cautious and active), watch (perceive) and pray, for you do not know the time.

Be on the watch all the time. Pray for the strength to escape all these things in order to stand before the Son of man.

With prayer and supplication pray at all times in the Spirit. Watch with all perseverance and supplication for all the holy ones.

The end of all things is near. Be of sound mind and judgment. Also be sober for the purpose of prayer.

Be alert, for you do not know what day the Lord will come. Know this, if the master of the house had known what time the thief was coming, he would have watched and his house would not have been vandalized. Be prepared! The Son of man will come at a time when you do not expect it.

No one knows the day or hour. The angels in heaven do not know. The Son of God does not know. Only the Father knows! Be awake (beware) (be cautious and active), watch (perceive) and pray, for you do not know the time. It is similar to a man traveling to another country. He leaves his house and gives authority to his servants to do the work. He commands them to watch.read more.
Watch therefore for you do not know when the lord of the house comes. It could be in the evening, at midnight or in the morning (when the cock crows). He could come suddenly and find you sleeping.
