Job Continues His Final Speech
5 God forbid, that I should grant your cause to be right! As for me, until mine end come will I never go from my innocence.
5 God forbid that I should justify you: till I die I will not remove mine integrity from me.
5 “Far be it from me that I should declare you right;Till I die (F)I will not put away my integrity from me.
5 Far be it from me to admit that you're right! I intend to maintain my integrity even if it kills me!
6 My righteous dealing will I keep fast, and not forsake it; for my conscience reproveth me not in all my conversation.
6 My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.
6 “I (G)hold fast my righteousness and will not let it go.My heart does not reproach any of my days.
6 I will cling to my righteousness and never let it go.My conscience(E) will not accuse me as long as I live!
6 I'll retain my righteousness and not compromise it; my conscience won't rebuke me at any time.
7 "Therefore mine enemy shall be found as the ungodly; and he that taketh part against me, as the unrighteous.
7 Let mine enemy be as the wicked, and he that riseth up against me as the unrighteous.
7 May my enemy be like the wickedand my opponent like the unjust.
7 "May my enemy be like the wicked; my adversary like the unjust.
8 What hope hath the hypocrite, though he have great good, and though God give him riches after his heart's desire?
8 For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul?
8 For where is the hope of the godless when he is eliminated; when God takes away his life?
What God Has In Store For Wicked People
13 saying, 'This is that portion that the wicked shall have of God, and the heritage that Tyrants shall receive of the Almighty'?
13 This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage of oppressors, which they shall receive of the Almighty.
13 “This is (M)the portion of a wicked man from God,And the inheritance which (N)tyrants receive from the Almighty.
13 "This is what a wicked person inherits from God, and what the ruthless will receive from the Almighty:
14 If he get many children, they shall perish with the sword, and his posterity shall have scarceness of bread.
14 If his children be multiplied, it is for the sword: and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.
14 “Though his sons are many, (i)they are destined (O)for the sword; And his (P)descendants will not be satisfied with bread.
14 Even if his children increase, they are destined for the sword;his descendants will never have enough food.
14 If he has many children, their destiny is to die by the sword, and his descendants won't have enough food.
15 Look, whom he leaveth behind him, they shall die and be buried, and no man shall have pity of his widows.
15 Those that remain of him shall be buried in death: and his widows shall not weep.
15 “His survivors will be buried because of the plague,And (j)their (Q)widows will not be able to weep.
15 Those who do survive him disease will bury, and his widow won't even weep.
16 Though he have as much money as the dust of the earth, and raiment as ready as the clay,
16 Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare raiment as the clay;
16 “Though he piles up silver like dustAnd prepares garments as plentiful as the clay,
16 Though he piles up silver like dustand heaps up a wardrobe like clay—
16 "Though he hoards silver like dust, and stores away garments like clay,
19 When the rich man dieth, he carrieth nothing with him: he is gone in the twinkling of an eye.
19 The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: he openeth his eyes, and he is not.
19 He lies down wealthy, but will do so no more;when he opens his eyes, it is gone.
19 He will go to bed wealthy, but won't be doing that anymore! When he opens his eyes, it will be gone!
21 A vehement wind carrieth him hence, and departeth: a storm plucketh him out of his place.
21 The east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth: and as a storm hurleth him out of his place.
21 An east wind picks him up, and he is gone;it carries him away from his place.
21 He'll be swept up by a storm wind and carried away; he'll be whirled away from his place.
22 It rusheth in upon him, and spareth him not, he may not escape from the power thereof.
22 For God shall cast upon him, and not spare: he would fain flee out of his hand.
22 It blasts at him without mercy, while he flees desperately from its grasp.
22 It will toss him around without pity. He'll try to break free from its grip,
