While he was still speaking to them, Rachel came with her father's sheep, for she was a shepherdess.
And it came to pass when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother's brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother's brother, that Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the mouth of the well, and watered the sheep of Laban his mother's brother.
And Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice and wept.
And Jacob told Rachel that he was a brother of her father, and that he was Rebecca's son; and she ran and told her father.
And Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger, Rachel.
And the eyes of Leah were tender; but Rachel was of beautiful form and beautiful countenance.
And Jacob loved Rachel, and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter.
And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they were in his eyes as single days, because he loved her.
And it came to pass in the morning, that behold, it was Leah. And he said to Laban, What is this thou hast done to me? Have I not served thee for Rachel? Why then hast thou deceived me?
Finish the week [of the wedding feast] for Leah; then we will give you Rachel also, and in return you shall work for me for seven more years.”
And Jacob did so, and fulfilled the week with this one, and he gave him Rachel his daughter to be his wife.
And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter, Bilhah, his maidservant, to be her maidservant.
And he went in also to Rachel; and he loved also Rachel more than Leah. And he served with him yet seven other years.
And when Jehovah saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb; but Rachel was barren.
And when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister, and said to Jacob, Give me children, or else I die.
And Jacob's anger was kindled against Rachel, and he said, Am I in God's stead, who has withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?
Rachel responded, "Here's my handmaid Bilhah. Go have sex with her. She can bear children on my knees so I can have children through her."
So Rachel gave Jacob her woman servant Bilhah to be his wife, and Jacob had sex with her.
And Rachel said, God has done me justice, and has also heard my voice, and given me a son; therefore she called his name Dan.
And Bilhah Rachel's maidservant again conceived, and bore Jacob a second son.
And Rachel said, Wrestlings of God have I wrestled with my sister, and have prevailed; and she called his name Naphtali.
And Reuben went out in the days of wheat-harvest, and found mandrakes in the fields; and he brought them to his mother Leah. And Rachel said to Leah, Give me, I pray thee, of thy son's mandrakes.
And she said to her, Is it too little that thou hast taken my husband, that thou wilt take my son's mandrakes also? And Rachel said, Therefore he shall lie with thee to-night for thy son's mandrakes.
And God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her, and opened her womb.
And it came to pass when Rachel had borne Joseph, that Jacob said to Laban, Send me away, that I may go to my place and to my country.
And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the fields to his flock,
And Rachel and Leah answered and said to him, Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father's house?
And Laban had gone to shear his sheep. And Rachel stole the teraphim that belonged to her father.
With whomsoever thou findest thy gods, he shall not live. Before our brethren discern what is thine with me, and take it to thee. But Jacob did not know that Rachel had stolen them.
And Laban went into Jacob's tent, and into Leah's tent, and into the two handmaids' tents, and found nothing; and he went out of Leah's tent, and entered into Rachel's tent.
Now Rachel had taken the teraphim and put them under the camel's saddle; and she sat upon them. And Laban explored all the tent, but found nothing.
So Rachel said to her father, “Do not be displeased, my lord, that I cannot rise before you, for the manner of women is on me and I am unwell.” He searched [further] but did not find the household idols.
And Jacob lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, Esau was coming, and with him four hundred men. And he distributed the children to Leah, and to Rachel, and to the two maidservants:
and he put the maidservants and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindmost.
And Leah also, with her children, drew near, and they bowed. And lastly Joseph drew near, and Rachel, and they bowed.
And they journeyed from Bethel. And there was yet a certain distance to come to Ephrath, when Rachel travailed in childbirth; and it went hard with her in her childbearing.
Just before she died, Rachel called her son's name Ben-oni, but his father Jacob named him Benjamin.
And Rachel died, and was buried on the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem.
And Jacob erected a pillar upon her grave: that is the pillar of Rachel's grave to this day.
The sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.
And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel's maidservant: Dan and Naphtali.
Your servant my father said to us, ‘You know that my wife [Rachel] bore me [only] two sons.
The sons of Rachel, Jacob's wife: Joseph and Benjamin.
These [are] the sons of Rachel who were born to Jacob--fourteen persons in all.
These [are] the sons of Bilhah whom Laban gave to Rachel his daughter, and she bore these to Jacob--seven persons in all.
As for me, when I came to Paddan-Aram Rachel died {to my sorrow} in the land of Canaan on the way when [there was] still some distance to go to Ephrath. And I buried her there on the way to Ephrath (that [is], Bethlehem)."

And he will say, What shall I give to thee? and Jacob will say, Thou shalt not give to me anything. If thou wilt do to me this word, I will return; I will feed thy sheep; I will watch. I will pass over among all thy sheep this day, removing from thence every sheep speckled and patched, and every sheep black among the lambs; and the patched and speckled among the she-goats; and it shall be my hire. And my justice shall speak for me in the day tomorrow, when it shall come for my hire before thy face: every one which is not speckled and patched among the she-goats and black among the lambs, that to be stolen with me. And Laban will say to him, Behold, it shall be according to thy word.

And Laban will say, It shall not be done so in our place, to give the small before the first-born. Complete her seven, and we will give to thee also this for work which thou shalt work with me yet other seven years. And Jacob will do so, and he will complete her seven, and he will give to him Rachel his daughter to him for a wife. And Laban will give to Rachel his daughter, Bilhah his maid to her for a maid. And he will go in also to Rachel, and he will also love Rachel more than Leah, and he will serve with him yet other seven years.
