So he said, “You know that the kingdom belonged to me [as the eldest living son] and all Israel looked to me and expected me to be king. However, the kingdom has passed [from me] and became my brother’s, for it was his from the Lord.

However, the people were sacrificing on the high places, because until that time a temple for the Lord’s name had not been built.

However, you will not build the house, but your son who has come from your loins, he shall build the house for my name.'
