they delivered to him the book of the prophet Esaias, and upon opening the book, that passage occurr'd, where it is written,

Blessed [joyful, nourished by God’s goodness] are you who hunger now [for righteousness, actively seeking right standing with God], for you will be [completely] satisfied. Blessed [forgiven, refreshed by God’s grace] are you who weep now [over your sins and repent], for you will laugh [when the burden of sin is lifted].

Blessed [joyful, spiritually favored] is he who does not take offense at Me.”

Then Herod said, "I had John decapitated, so who is this person about whom I hear such things?" And he became eager to see Jesus.

Afterwards observing how eager the guests were for the first places, he gave them this instruction:

and eager to satisfy his hunger with what was thrown away from the rich man's table. Why, the very dogs came and licked his sores.

Jesus continued to teach each day in the Temple Courts; but the Chief Priests and Teachers of the Law were eager to take his life, and so also were the leading men.

but they couldn't find a way to do it, because all the people were eager to hear him.

After this the Teachers of the Law and the Chief Priest were eager to lay hands on Jesus then and there, but they were afraid of the people; for they saw that it was at them that he had aimed this parable.

They asked Him, “Teacher, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign when these things are about to happen?”

But when you hear of wars and disturbances, do not be terrified, for all these things must first occur, but the end is not at once.

Now when these things begin to occur, stand tall and lift up your heads [in joy], because [suffering ends as] your redemption is drawing near.”

so, also, when you see all these things occur, know that the kingdom of God is nigh.

And he said to them, With eager desire have I desired to eat this pascha with you before I suffer:

Now a dispute also arose among them as to which of them was regarded to be the greatest.

And those around Him seeing what was about to occur, they said to him, Lord, shall we strike with the sword?
