They have made their faces harder than rock;
They have refused to repent and return to You.
For even if you had defeated the whole army of the Chaldeans who fight against you, and there remained only the wounded men among them, yet they would rise up, every man confined in his tent, and burn down this city with fire.’”
Those killed with the sword
Are more fortunate than those killed with hunger;
For the hungry pine and ebb away,
For the lack of the fruits of the field.
The men who had not died were stricken with tumors and the cry of the city [for help] went up to heaven.
For I am suffering and needy,
And my heart is wounded within me.
“Then Daniel, whose [Babylonian] name was Belteshazzar, was appalled and speechless for a while [because he was deeply concerned about the destiny of the king], and his thoughts alarmed him. For He has torn us, but He will heal us;

I asked, “What are these [horns and craftsmen] coming to do?” And he said, “These are the horns (powers) that have scattered Judah so that no man raised up his head [because of the suffering inflicted by the Gentile nations]. But these craftsmen have come to terrify them and make them panic, and throw down the horns of the nations who have lifted up their horns against the land of Judah in order to scatter it.”
Do not be in a hurry to get out of his presence. Do not join in a malevolent matter, for the king will do whatever he pleases.
Why should you be stricken and punished again [since no change results from it]?
You [only] continue to rebel.
