If a man has two wives, one beloved and another hated, and they have borne him sons, the beloved and the hated; and if the first-born son was of her that was hated,

then it shall be in the day when he makes his sons to inherit what he has, he may not cause to inherit the son of the beloved first-born before the son of the hated one, he who is truly the first-born.

But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated as the first-born by giving him a double portion of all that he has. For he is the beginning of his strength. The right of the first-born is his.

The sons that are born to them shall enter into the congregation of Jehovah in their third generation.

And it shall be, the first-born whom she bears shall succeed in the name of his dead brother, so that his name may not be put out of Israel.

His glory is like the first-born of his bull, and his horns are like the horns of the wild ox. With them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth. And they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh.

For all the people who came out were circumcised. But all the people born in the wilderness by the wayside, as they came forth out of Egypt, had not been circumcised.

And about the time of her death the women that stood by her said to her, Do not fear, for you have borne a son. But she did not answer, nor set her heart.

And the name of his first-born was Joel, and the name of his second was Abiah, judges in Beer-sheba.

And the sons of Saul were Jonathan, and Ishui, and Melchishua. And the names of his two daughters: the first-born's name was Merab, and the name of the younger, Michal.

And the three oldest sons of Jesse went out, and followed Saul to the battle. And the names of his three sons that went to the battle were Eliab the first-born; and his second, Abinadab; and the third Shammah.

And sons were born to David in Hebron. And his first-born was Amnon, the son of Ahinoam of Jezreel.

And the sixth was Ithream, by Eglah, David's wife. These were born to David in Hebron.

And David took more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he had come from Hebron. And there were still more sons and daughters born to David.

Only, because by this deed you have given great occasion to the enemies of Jehovah to blaspheme, this child born to you shall surely die.

And there were born three sons to Absalom, and one daughter, whose name was Tamar. She was a woman with a beautiful face.

And there was yet again a battle in Gath. And there was a man of stature who had six fingers on each hand, and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in number. And he also was born to the giant.

These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

And he cried against the altar in the Word of Jehovah and said, O, altar, altar, so says Jehovah. Behold, a son shall be born to the house of David, Josiah by name, and on you he shall offer the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and men's bones shall be burned on you.

In his days Hiel the man of Bethel built Jericho. He laid the foundation of it in Abiram his first-born, and set up the gates of it in his youngest son Segub, according to the Word of Jehovah which He spoke by Joshua the son of Nun.

And to Eber were born two sons. The name of the one was Peleg (because in his days the earth was divided), and the name of his brother was Joktan.

These are their generations. The first-born of Ishmael was Nebaioth, and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,

The sons of Judah: Er and Onan, and Shelah, three born to him from the daughter of Shua the Canaanitess. And Er, the first-born of Judah, was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and He killed him.

And the sons also of Hezron, who were born to him: Jerahmeel, and Ram, and Chelubai.

And Jesse fathered his first-born Eliab, and Abinadab the second, and Shimma the third,

And the sons of Jerahmeel the first-born of Hezron: Ram the first-born, and Bunah, and Oren, and Ozem, and Ahijah.

And the sons of Ram the first-born of Jerahmeel: were Maaz, and Jamin, and Eker.

And the sons of Caleb the brother of Jerahmeel: Mesha his first-born, the father of Ziph. And the sons of Mareshah the father of Hebron.

These were the sons of Caleb the son of Hur. The first-born of Ephratah was Shobal the father of Kirjath-jearim;

And these were the sons of David, who were born to him in Hebron. The first-born, Amnon, of Ahinoam of Jezreel. The second, Daniel, of Abigail of Carmel.

These six were born to him in Hebron. And there he reigned seven years and six months. And he reigned in Jerusalem thirty-three years.

And these were born to him in Jerusalem Shimea, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon, four of Bathsheba the daughter of Ammiel

And the sons of Josiah: Johanan the first-born, Jehoiakim the second, Zedekiah the third, Shallum the fourth.

and Penuel the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These are the sons of Hur, the first-born of Ephratah, the father of Bethlehem.

And the sons of Reuben, the first-born of Israel (for he was the first-born; but since he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel, and the genealogy is not to be counted according to the birthright;

the sons of Reuben the first-born of Israel: Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.

And the sons of Samuel: Joel, Vashni, the first-born, and Abijah.

The sons of Manasseh: Ashriel, the son born to his Syrian concubine with Machir the father of Gilead,

And Benjamin fathered Bela his first-born, Ashbel the second, and Aharah the third,

And his first-born son was Abdon, and Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Nadab,

And the sons of Eshek his brother: Ulam his first-born; Jehush, the second; and Eliphelet, the third.

And of the Shilonites, Asaiah the first-born and his sons.

And Mattithiah, of the Levites, who was the first-born of Shallum the Korahite, was faithful over the work of the pans.

And his first-born son was Abdon, then Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Ner, and Nadab,

And again there was a battle in Gath, and a man of stature was there, and his fingers and toes were twenty-four, six on each hand and six on each foot. And he also had been born son of the giant.

These were born to the giant in Gath. And they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

Behold, a son shall be born to you who shall be a man of rest. And I will give him rest from all his enemies all around. For his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days.

And the sons of Meshelemiah: Zechariah the first-born, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,

And the sons of Obed-edom: Shemaiah the first-born, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, and Sacar the fourth, and Nethaneel the fifth,

Also sons were born to his son Shemaiah, who ruled for the house of their father, for they were mighty men of valor.

Also to Hosah, of the sons of Merari, were sons: Simri was the chief (though not the first-born, yet his father made him the chief),

And their father gave them great gifts of silver and of gold and of precious things, with fortified cities in Judah. But the kingdom he gave to Jehoram, because he was the first-born.

And now let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the women, and such as have been born of them, according to the counsel of the Lord, and of those who tremble at the commandment of our God. And let it be done according to the Law.

and to bring the first-born of our sons, and of our cattle, as it is written in the Law, and the firstlings of our herds and of our flocks, to bring to the house of our God, to the priests who minister in the house of our God;

And there were born to him seven sons and three daughters.

Let the day perish in which I was born, and the night which said, A man-child is conceived.

but man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

For foolish man would be wise, and man is born a wild ass's colt.

Man born of woman is of few days, and full of trouble.

Were you the first man born? Or were you made before the hills?

What is man, that he should be clean? And what is he born of a woman that he should be righteous?

It shall devour the parts of his skin; the first-born of death consumes his parts.

How then can man be justified with God? Or how can one who is born of a woman be clean?

You know, because you were born then. And the number of your days is great.

They shall come, and shall declare His righteousness to a people that shall yet be born, that He has done this.

For it is not an enemy who reviled me; then I could have borne it; it is not one who hates me who magnified himself against me; or I would hide myself from him;

because I have borne reproach for Your sake, shame has covered my face.

so that the generation to come might know; sons shall be born, and they shall arise and tell their sons,

and struck all the first-born in Egypt, the first of the strong in the tents of Ham;

I will mention Rahab and Babylon to those who know me; behold, Philistia and Tyre, with Ethiopia; this man was born there.

And to Zion it shall be said, This man and that man was born in her; and the Highest shall establish her.

Jehovah shall count, in recording the peoples, that this man was born there. Selah.

And I will make him My first-born, higher than the kings of the earth.

He also struck all the first-born in their land, the chief of all their strength.

He who struck the first-born of Egypt, both of man and animal;

To Him who struck Egypt in their first-born; for His mercy endures forever;

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for the time of trouble.

a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pull up what is planted;

For out of prison he comes to reign; although in his kingdom he was born poor.

For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be on His shoulder; and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

And the first-born of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety; and I will kill your root with famine, and he shall slay your remnant.

Listen to me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, who are borne by Me from the belly, who are lifted from the womb;

Then you shall say in your heart, Who has borne me these, since I am bereaved, and desolate, turned aside and an exile, and who has brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where were they?

No guide is for her among all the sons she has borne; and none takes her by the hand of all the sons that she made to grow.

Surely He has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

Who has heard a thing like this? Who has seen things like these? Will the earth be brought forth in one day? Or will a nation be born at once? For Zion travailed and also brought forth her sons.

Woe is me, my mother, that you have borne me, a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have not loaned, nor have men loaned to me; yet every one curses me.

For so says Jehovah concerning the sons and concerning the daughters who are born in this place, and concerning their mothers who bore them, and concerning their fathers who fathered them in this land:

Cursed is the day in which I was born; let not the day in which my mother bore me be blessed.

Cursed is the man who brought news to my father, saying, A man child is born to you; making him very glad.

And I will cast you and your mother who bore you into another country where you were not born. And there you shall die.

Our fathers have sinned and are not; we have borne their iniquities.
