Moreover, the altar which [was] in Bethel, the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who had caused Israel to sin, had built, even that altar and the high place, [Josiah] tore down. Then he burned down the high place and crushed [the] pole of Asherah worship to dust and burned it with fire.

As Josiah turned around, he observed the graves located there on the mountain, so he sent for and recovered the bones from the graves and burned them on the altar to defile it, in keeping with the message from the LORD that the godly man had proclaimed when he was declaring these things.

For there was not holden such a passover from the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;

But in the eighteenth year of King Josiah, this Passover was kept for Yahweh in Jerusalem.

There was not a king like him before him, who turned to Yahweh with all of his heart and with all of his soul and with all of his might according to the law of Moses, nor did one arise like him afterwards.

However, Yahweh did not turn from the fierceness of his great anger which was kindled against Judah because of all of the provocations [with] which Manasseh had provoked him.

In his days, Pharaoh Neco king of Egypt went against the king of Assyria to the river of Euphrates. And king Josiah went against him, and was slain of him at Megiddo when he had seen him.

Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he became king, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. The name of his mother [was] Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah from Libnah.

He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, according to all that his fathers had done.

Then Pharaoh-necoh made Eliakim, the son of Josiah, king in place of Josiah his father, changing his name to Jehoiakim; but Jehoahaz he took away to Egypt, where he was till his death.

And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh: howbeit, he taxed the land, to give the money at the commandment of Pharaoh and as every man was set at, so he required the silver and the gold of the people of the land, to give Pharaoh Neco.

Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. The name of his mother [was] Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah from Rumah

He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, according to all that his fathers had done.

In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim was his servant three years; then he turned and rebelled against him.

Surely, it was {on the command} of Yahweh against Judah to remove them from his sight because of the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done.

Also, [for] the blood of the innocent that he had shed--and he filled Jerusalem [with] innocent blood--Yahweh was not willing to forgive.

And the king of Egypt added no more to come forth from his land, for the king of Babel took from the torrent of Egypt, even to the river Phrath, all which was to the king of Eygpt

Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. The name of his mother [was] Nehushta daughter of Elnathan from Jerusalem.

He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, according to all that his father had done.

At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.

He deported all of Jerusalem: all of the commanders, ten thousand of the skilled warriors, and the artisans; no one was left over except the poorest of the people of the land.

Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. The name of his mother [was] Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah from Libnah.

He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.

For, because the anger of Jehovah was against Jerusalem and against Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence, Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

And the city was besieged until the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.

In the ninth month, the famine became severe in the city, and there was no food for the people of the land.

Then the city was breached, and all of the men of war [entered] by night by way of the gate between the wall which was by the garden of the king, and the Chaldeans [were] against the city all around, so he left by the way of the Arabah.

And the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.

So they seized the king (Zedekiah) and brought him to the king of Babylon at Riblah [on the Orontes River], and sentence was passed on him.

Zedekiah's sons were executed while Zedekiah was forced to watch. The king of Babylon then had Zedekiah's eyes put out, bound him in bronze chains, and carried him off to Babylon.

And in the fifth month, on the seventh of the month, which was in the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, Nebuzar-adan, captain of the body-guard, servant of the king of Babylon, came unto Jerusalem;

And the walls round Jerusalem were broken down by the Chaldaean army which was with the captain.

The bronze pillars which [were in] the temple of Yahweh, the water carts, and the bronze sea that was in the temple of Yahweh, the Chaldeans broke into pieces and carried their bronze to Babylon.

The firepans and the basins, whatever was gold, the commander of the imperial guard took [for] the gold and whatever was silver, [for] the silver.

The two pillars, the one sea, and the water cart which Solomon had made for the temple of Yahweh, there was no weighing to the bronze of all of these vessels.

The height of the one pillar [was] eighteen cubits; a bronze capital was on it, with the height of the capital [being] three cubits. The latticework and pomegranates on the capital all around were bronze, and likewise on the latticework for the second pillar.

The captain of the royal guard took Seraiah the chief priest and Zephaniah, the priest who was second in rank, and the three doorkeepers.

From the city he took one court official who [was] chief officer over the men of war, five men {from the king's council} who were found in the city, the secretary of the commander of the army who mustered the people of the land, and sixty men from the people of the land being found in the city.

Then the king of Babylon struck them down and killed them at Riblah in the land of Hamath; thus Judah was removed from its land.

When all the captains of the armies, along with their men, heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah, these men visited Gedaliah at Mizpah: Nethaniah's son Ishmael, Kareah's son Johanan, Tanhumeth the Netophathite's son Seraiah, and Jaazaniah, who was descended from the Maacathites.

But in the seventh month Ishmael son of Nethaniah, son of Elishama, who was a member of the royal family, came with ten of his men and murdered Gedaliah, as well as the Judeans and Babylonians who were with him at Mizpah.

Notwithstanding yet the thirty seventh year after Jehoiachin king of Judah was carried away, the twenty seventh day of the twelfth month, did Evilmerodach king of Babylon lift up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah out of the prison house,

And his prison clothing was changed, and he was a guest at the king's table every day for the rest of his life.

His allowance was continually given to him from the king, {a portion every day} all the days of his life.

Cush was the father of Nimrod, who established himself as a mighty warrior on earth.

Mizraim was the father of the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites,

Canaan was the father of Sidon -- his firstborn -- and Heth,

Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah was the father of Eber.

And two sons were born to Eber: the name of the one [was] Peleg (for in his days the earth was divided), and the name of his brother [was] Joktan.

Joktan was the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,

Ishmael's firstborn son was Nebaioth; the others were Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,

And the sons of Keturah, Abraham's servant-wife: she was the mother of Zimran and Jokshan and Medan and Midian and Ishbak and Shuah. And the sons of Jokshan: Sheba and Dedan.

Abraham was the father of Isaac. The sons of Isaac: Esau and Israel.

And the sons of Lotan: Hori and Homam; and the sister of Lotan [was] Timna.

The son of Anah was Dishon. And the sons of Dishon: Amram, and Eshban, and Ithran, and Cheran.

These [are] the kings who reigned in the land of Edom before any king reigned over the {Israelites}: Bela son of Beor, and the name of his city [was] Dinhabah.

And when Bela was dead Jobab the son of Zera of Bozrah reigned in his stead.

And when Jobab was dead, Husham of the land of the Temanites reigned in his stead.

When Husham died, Hadad son of Bedad, who defeated the Midianites in the country of Moab, reigned in his place. And the name of his city was Avith.

And when Hadad was dead, Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead.

And when Samlah was dead, Shaul of Rehoboth by the river reigned in his stead.

And when Shaul was dead, Baal-hanan the son of Achbor reigned in his stead.

When Baal-Hanan died, Hadad reigned in his place, and the name of his city [was] Pai. And the name of his wife [was] Mehetabel, daughter of Matred, daughter of Me-Zahab.

The sons of Judah: Er, Onan and Shelah; [these] three were born to him from Bathshua the Canaanite. Now Er, Judah's firstborn, [was] evil in the sight of Yahweh, and he put him to death.

The son of Carmi: Achan, who brought the disaster on Israel when he stole what was devoted to God.

And the son of Ethan [was] Azariah.

Ram was the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab was the father of Nahshon, the tribal chief of Judah.

Nahshon was the father of Salma, and Salma was the father of Boaz.

Boaz was the father of Obed, and Obed was the father of Jesse.

Jesse was the father of Eliab, his firstborn; Abinadab was born second, Shimea third,

And Abigail bore Amasa, and the father of Amasa [was] Jether the Ishmaelite.

And when Azubah was dead, Caleb took to him Ephrath, who bore to him Hur,

Hur was the father of Uri, and Uri was the father of Bezalel.

And afterward Hezron went in to the daughter of Makir the father of Gilead. And he married her when he was sixty years old. And she bore Segub to him.

Segub was the father of Jair, who owned twenty-three cities in the land of Gilead.

After that Hezron was dead in Caleb Ephrathah, then Abijah Hezron's wife bore him Ashhur the father of Tekoa.

And Jerahmeel had another wife, and her name [was] Atarah. She [was] the mother of Onam.

And the name of the wife of Abishur [was] Abihail, and she bore to him Ahban and Molid.

And the son of Appaim was Ishi. And the son of Ishi was Sheshan. And the son of Sheshan was Ahlai.

And Sheshan had no sons, only daughters, but Sheshan had an Egyptian slave, and his name [was] Jarha.

And Sheshan had a servant that was an Egyptian named Jarha to whom he gave his daughter to wife, and she bare him Attai.

Attai was the father of Nathan, and Nathan was the father of Zabad.

Zabad was the father of Ephlal, and Ephlal was the father of Obed.

Obed was the father of Jehu, and Jehu was the father of Azariah.

Azariah was the father of Helez, and Helez was the father of Eleasah.

Eleasah was the father of Sismai, and Sismai was the father of Shallum.

Shallum was the father of Jekamiah, and Jekamiah was the father of Elishama.

And the sons of Caleb the brother of Jerahmeel were Mesha his firstborn; he [was] the father of Ziph. The sons of Mareshah: Hebron.

Shema was the father of Raham, the father of Jorkeam. Rekem was the father of Shammai.

And the son of Shammai [was] Maon, and Maon [was] the father of Beth-Zur.

Caleb's concubine Ephah bore Haran, Moza, and Gazez. Haran was the father of Gazez.

Caleb’s concubine Maacah was the mother of Sheber and Tirhanah.

She also gave birth to Shaaph the father of Madmannah, Sheva the father of Machbenah and the father of Gibea; and the daughter of Caleb [was] Acsah.

These were the sons of Caleb the son of Hur. The first-born of Ephratah was Shobal the father of Kirjath-jearim;

The son of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah, was Shobal, who fathered Kiriath-jearim, Salma, who fathered Bethlehem, and Hareph, who fathered Beth-gader.

These were the sons of David who were born to him in Hebron: The firstborn was Amnon, whose mother was Ahinoam from Jezreel; the second was Daniel, whose mother was Abigail from Carmel;

the third was Absalom whose mother was Maacah, daughter of King Talmai of Geshur; the fourth was Adonijah, whose mother was Haggith;

the fifth was Shephatiah, whose mother was Abital; the sixth was Ithream, whose mother was Eglah.

He had six sons in Hebron; he was ruling there for seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem for thirty-three years.

These were the sons born to him in Jerusalem: Shimea, Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon -- the mother of these four was Bathsheba the daughter of Ammiel.
