30 Bible Verses about Christ's Disciples Will Suffer

Be sober in all things, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist (preacher of the good news), and fulfill your ministry.

You must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

I will show him plainly how many things he must suffer for my name.

It has been granted to you in behalf of Christ. Not only to believe on him, but also to suffer in his behalf.

Anyone who does not pick up his stake and follow me is not worthy of me.

Then Jesus told his disciples: If any man wants to follow me (be mine), let him deny (disown) himself, and take up his stake and follow me (Greek: akoloutheo moi, let him be following me) (accompany me) (be in the same way with me).

He then spoke to both his disciples and the crowd. He said: If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his stake and follow me.

Those who do not carry their own stake and come after me may not be my disciples.

He told them all: If any man would come after me let him deny himself. Let him take up his stake (of self-denial) daily, and follow me.

We do not want anyone to be discouraged by these troubles. You know we were bound to suffer persecution.

When we were with you, we told you that we would suffer tribulation and affliction. It happened, as you know.

Do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of me his prisoner. Join me in suffering for the good news according to the power of God.

When one member suffers all the members suffer with it. When one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

There is no root in him. He endures for a while. When he has tribulation or persecution because of the word, he falls away.

People will cause you tribulation, and kill you. You will be hated by all the nations for my name's sake.

Holy Spirit warns me that in every city, prison and hardships are facing me there.

Brothers, your faith has comforted us. In all our trouble and suffering we are encouraged.

You greatly rejoice in this, though you have been grieved with various trials for a little while.

For this is to your credit to suffer wrongfully and endure grief because of your conscience toward God.

Even if you suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. Do not fear! Do not be troubled (distressed) (intimidated)!

It is better to suffer for doing what is right, if suffering is God's will, than to suffer for doing evil (wrong) (sin).

Let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evildoer, or as a meddler in other people's business. If a man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this name. For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God. If it begins with us first what will it be like in the end for those who do not obey the good news of God?

Let them also that suffer according to the will of God commend themselves in well doing to a faithful Creator.

After you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will perfect, establish, and strengthen you.

What value is there when you sin, and are buffeted for it, you take it patiently? But if, when you do well and suffer for it, you take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

Not only that, but we also rejoice in our tribulations knowing that tribulation produces endurance.

In everything we commend ourselves, as ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,

We are pressed (afflicted) (troubled) on every side, but not crushed. We are perplexed yet not to despair.

Our light affliction is for the moment. It works more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory for us.

Our hope for you is steadfast; knowing that, as you are partakers of the sufferings, so you also partake of the comfort.
