Because of the present distress I think it is good for you to remain as you are.

Great is my confidence in you. Great is my boasting on your behalf. I am filled with comfort. I overflow with joy in our entire affliction.

When we were with you, we told you that we would suffer tribulation and affliction. It happened, as you know.

That is why we boast (rejoice) (have glory) about you in the congregations of God. We boast (rejoice) (have glory) about the way you continue to endure and believe through all the persecutions and sufferings you experience.
