Who then is the faithful and prudent servant, whom his lord hath set over his family to give them food in due season? blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so employed: verily I tell you, that he will set him over his whole estate.read more.
But if that servant be wicked and say in his heart, my master delayeth his coming, and begin to beat his fellow-servants, and to revel with drunkards: the lord of that servant will come in a day when he doth not expect him, and in an hour which he knows not, and will cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with hypocrites: where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Wherefore girding up the loins of your mind, be sober, and stedfastly hope for the grace to be conferred upon you at the appearing of Jesus Christ; as children of obedience, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts in your ignorance: but as He who hath called you is holy, be ye also holy in all your conversation: since it is written,
Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in holy conversation and godliness, expecting and hastening on the coming of the day of God, whereby the heavens being set on fire shall be dissolved, and the burning elements shall be melted.
so that ye are deficient in no gift, expecting the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ: who will also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ; for God is faithful by whom ye were called into the communion of his son Jesus Christ our Lord.
And may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patience of Christ.
Maintain the glorious combat of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which thou hast been called, and hast made a good profession before many witnesses. I charge thee before God, who giveth life to all, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed a good confession before Pontius Pilate, that thou keep this commandment, unspotted and blameless, till the appearance of our Lord Jesus Christ;

But he that endures to the end, shall be saved: and this gospel of the kingdom of heaven shall be preached in all the world, for a testimony to all the nations; and then shall the end come.
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, be stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, since ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

And this let us observe, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now is our salvation nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
Be ye also patient, establish your hearts; for the coming of the Lord is near. Repine not, my brethren, against each other, that ye be not condemned: behold, the judge is at the door.
But the end of all things draws nigh: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer:

For the grace of God, that bringeth salvation, hath appeared to all men; teaching us that denying ungodliness, and worldly desires, we should live soberly, and righteously, and piously in this present world; looking for the blessed hope, and glorious appearance of the great God, and our Saviour, Jesus Christ:
And not only others, but those also who have the first-fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit the redemption of our body. For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen, is not hope; for what any one sees, how doth he yet hope for? but if we hope for what we see not, then we wait for it with patience.
But I would not have you ignorant, my brethren, concerning those that are fallen asleep, that ye may not be grieved like others who have no hope: for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, so also those, that sleep in Jesus, will God bring with Him. For this we tell you in the word of the Lord, that we who shall be living and remain to the coming of the Lord, shall not be before those that are asleep.
As to what remains, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me in that day: and not to me only, but also to all those who have longed for his appearance.
