Do that which is good, and thou wilt have praise from it; for the ruler is Gods servant to thee for good. But if thou doest evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain; for he is Gods servant, an avenger to inflict wrath upon him that doeth evil.
tend the flock of God which is among you, overseeing it, not by constraint, but willingly; not for base gain, but with ready mind;
So when they had breakfasted, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of John, lovest thou me more than these? He saith to him, Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him, Feed my lambs. He saith to him again a second time, Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? He saith to him, Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him, Tend my sheep. He saith to him the third time, Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said to him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him, Feed my sheep.
Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock over which the Holy Spirit made you overseers, to feed the church of the Lord, which he purchased with his own blood.
Study to present thyself approved unto God, a workman not ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
preach the word, be urgent in season, out of season, confute, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and teaching.
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it,
that they may teach the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,
Dwell likewise, O husband, with thy wife according to knowledge, as with the weaker vessel, giving her honor as being heir with thee of the grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered.
In like manner, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands, that even if any obey not the word, they may without the word be won by the behavior of the wives,
And, ye fathers, stir not up the anger of your children, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
presiding well over his own house, having his children in subjection with all propriety;
Children, obey your parents in the Lord; for this is right. "Honor thy father and mother;" which is the first commandment with a promise; "that it may be well with thee, and thou mayst live long on the earth."
Ye are the salt of the earth. But if the salt have lost its savor, wherewith shall itself be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot by men.
Go, and make all nations my disciples, baptizing them into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe all things, whatever I have commanded you. And, lo! I am with you always, unto the end of the world.
And he said to them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the glad tidings to the whole creation.
But ye will receive power when the Holy Spirit hath come upon you; and ye will be my witnesses, both in Jerusalem and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
And he answering said "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself."
And he said to him, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind." This is the great and first commandment. There is a second like it: "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."
Jesus answered, The first is, "Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord; and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength." The second is this: "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." There is no other commandment greater than these.
Ye have heard that it was said, "Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy." But I say to you, Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you; that ye may become sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
And he said to him, Thou hast answered rightly; do this, and thou shalt live. But he, wishing to justify himself, said to Jesus, And who is my neighbor? Jesus answering said, A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers; who after stripping him of his raiment, and wounding him, departed, leaving him half dead.read more.
And by chance a certain priest was going down on that road; and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And in like manner also a Levite, having arrived at the place, came and saw, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he was journeying, came where he was, and when he saw him, had compassion, and went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine, and setting him on his own beast, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And the next day, he took out two denaries and gave them to the host, and said, Take care of him; and whatever thou spendest more, I, when I come back, will repay thee. Which of these three, dost thou think, was neighbor to him that fell among the robbers? And he said, He that took pity on him. Then said Jesus to him, Go, and do thou likewise.
