behave to others in the same manner, as you desire they would behave to you.
Let your actions be such, with regard to others, as you should think reasonable with regard to yourselves, for this is the substance of the law and the prophets.
if you return one kind office by another, where's the obligation? the heathen themselves do as much.

Then he propos'd this parable, concerning those who had a great opinion of their own justice, and look'd with contempt upon others.
and the second has an affinity with it, "thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy self."
for if you only love those, who love you, where's the obligation? the very heathen return love for love.
Do nothing out of a spirit of contention, or for vain-glory, but modestly look upon others as if they were better than yourselves.
with all humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another in love;
for we are not like others, who adulterate the word of God; but we preach the pure gospel of Christ, as I receiv'd it from God, and as in the presence of God.
be mutually kind, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
maintain an intire affection for them, upon account of their office, and don't form any brigues against them.
if you have imbezel'd what another gave you in trust, how can he give you an estate in perpetuity?
in the same manner will my heavenly father likewise treat you, if ye do not sincerely forgive every one the trespasses of his brother.
give and you shall receive: they shall pour into your lap good measure, well pressed, heap'd up, and running over. for in the measure you deal with others, you shall be dealt with yourselves.
if you should respectfully say to the suit of fine cloths, sit you there, that's for quality; and to the poor man, stand thou there, or place your self at my feet:
My brethren, let not your christian profession be accompanied with partiality.
and the second, which has an affinity to it, is this: "you shall love your neighbour as yourself." there is no other commandment greater than these.
let not him that eateth, despise him that does not; and let not him that refrains, pass censure on him that eateth: for God hath received him.
And consider, said he, how you hear; for in proportion as you weigh what is communicated to you, new light shall be given:
but he that does wrong shall be punish'd for his injustice: for no regard will be shown to the external characters of men.
and you masters have a just regard to them, by softning your authority: knowing that both their and your master is in heaven, where there is no respect of persons with him.
for all the law is comprehended in this one precept, "thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."
for he that has not shewed mercy, shall be condemn'd without mercy: while the merciful shall triumph at his trial.
then he sent another, whom they killed: and of several more, some they beat, some they killed.
