But don't you assume that title, for you have but one doctor, who is the Christ; as for you, you are all brethren alike.

Now the whole body of believers were but one heart, and one soul: no one look'd upon what he possessed, as his own, but every thing was held in common.

Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to maintain all the same doctrine, to suffer no divisions among you; but to be perfectly united in the same mind, and in the same judgment.

Finally, brethren, be cheerful: redress yourselves, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

that their hearts might be comforted, and that being firmly united in love, they might possess the highest and fullest persuasion of the truth of this doctrine, by entring into this mystery, even of God the father, and of Christ,

till being united in a perfect belief, and acknowledgment of the son of God, we grow up to that full state of maturity required by Christ:

I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. and now, O father, glorify me in heaven, with the glory which I had before the creation of the world. whereupon the city went in a body to meet Jesus, and when they saw him they desir'd him to withdraw out of their country.

but not finding them, they dragg'd Jason and some of the brethren to the magistrates, crying out, these that have been every where the disturbers of the publick peace, are come hither also, and have been entertain'd by Jason.

they all agree in this, to give their power and strength to the beast.

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved; he shall go in and out, and find pasture. the thief comes only to steal, to kill, and destroy: but I am come that they might have life, and have it with all its advantages. I am the true pastor: the true pastor exposes his life for the sheep. but the hireling, who is not the pastor, nor has the property of the sheep, seeing the wolf come, leaves the sheep, and flies away: so the wolf seizes some, and disperses the flock. the hireling flies, because he is an hireling, and is under no concern for the sheep. All that believed were united together, and had all things in common, so that they sold their possessions and goods, and distributed the money to every one as his occasions required. and continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they did eat their meals with gladness, and simplicity of heart, read more.
