teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in the present world;

and be not conformed to the fashion of this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that ye may learn by experience what is the will of God, what is good, and wellpleasing, and perfect.

For what will a man be profited, if be gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? or what shall a man give as an exchange for his life?
