So do this: remove the kings from command and replace them with captains.

Now a certain man of the sons of the prophets said to another by the word of the Lord, “Please strike me.” But the man refused to strike him.

They worshiped the disgusting idols in blatant disregard of the Lord's command.

They rejected his rules, the covenant he had made with their ancestors, and the laws he had commanded them to obey. They paid allegiance to worthless idols, and so became worthless to the Lord. They copied the practices of the surrounding nations in blatant disregard of the Lord's command.

Then the king of Assyria issued a command: “Send back one of the priests you deported. Have him go and live there so he can teach them the requirements of the God of the land.”

So the service was established; the priests stood at their posts and the Levites in their divisions according to the king’s command.

The singers, the descendants of Asaph, were at their stations according to the command of David, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun the king’s seer. Also, the gatekeepers were at each gate. None of them left their tasks because their Levite brothers had made preparations for them.

So all the service of the Lord was established that day for observing the Passover and for offering burnt offerings on the altar of the Lord, according to the command of King Josiah.

He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord his God and did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet at the Lord’s command.

So, now issue a decree to make these men stop [work], so that this city is not rebuilt until a [new] command is issued by me.

Esther had not revealed her family or her people [that is, her Jewish background], just as Mordecai had instructed her; for Esther did what Mordecai told her just as when she was under his care.

The members of the royal staff at the King’s Gate asked Mordecai, “Why are you disobeying the king’s command?”

The couriers left, spurred on by royal command, and the law was issued in the fortress of Susa. The king and Haman sat down to drink, while the city of Susa was in confusion.

There was great mourning among the Jewish people in every province where the king’s command and edict came. They fasted, wept, and lamented, and many lay on sackcloth and ashes.

The couriers rode out in haste on their royal horses at the king’s urgent command. The law was also issued in the fortress of Susa.

In every province and every city, wherever the king’s command and his law reached, joy and rejoicing took place among the Jews. There was a celebration and a holiday. And many of the ethnic groups of the land professed themselves to be Jews because fear of the Jews had overcome them.

The king’s command and law went into effect on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, the month Adar. On the day when the Jews’ enemies had hoped to overpower them, just the opposite happened. The Jews overpowered those who hated them.

obliging them to celebrate the fourteenth day of the month of Adar, and the fifteenth day of the same month, annually,

So Esther’s command confirmed these customs of Purim, which were then written into the record.

“Do you know how God establishes and commands them,And makes the lightning of His [storm] cloud shine?

And say, 'Hitherto come thou, and add not, And a command is placed On the pride of thy billows.'

Can you command the cloudsso that a flood of water covers you?

Can you command the lightning, so that it goes forth and calls to you, "Look at us!'

Who have said, “With our tongue we will prevail;Our lips are our own; who is lord and master over us?”
