'Delight' in the Bible

So she laughed to herself: “After I have become shriveled up and my lord is old, will I have delight?”

The Lord your God will make you prosper abundantly in all the work of your hands with children, the offspring of your livestock, and your land’s produce. Indeed, the Lord will again delight in your prosperity, as He delighted in that of your fathers,

However, if He should say, ‘I do not delight in you,’ then here I am—He can do with me whatever pleases Him.”

Moreover, because of my delight in the house of my God, I now give my personal treasures of gold and silver for the house of my God over and above all that I’ve provided for the holy house:

Please, Lord, let Your ear be attentive to the prayer of Your servant and to that of Your servants who delight to revere Your name. Give Your servant success today, and have compassion on him in the presence of this man.At the time, I was the king’s cupbearer.

Does it delight the Almighty if you are righteous?Does He profit if you perfect your behavior?

Then you will delight in the Almightyand lift up your face to God.

Will he delight in the Almighty?Will he call on God at all times?

He will pray to God, and God will delight in him.That man will see His face with a shout of joy,and God will restore his righteousness to him.

Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction,and he meditates on it day and night.

As for the holy people who are in the land,they are the noble ones.All my delight is in them.

Then I will rejoice in the Lord;I will delight in His deliverance.

Take delight in the Lord,and He will give you your heart’s desires.

You do not delight in sacrifice and offering;You open my ears to listen.You do not ask for a whole burnt offering or a sin offering.

I delight to do Your will, my God;Your instruction lives within me.”

By this I know that You delight in me:my enemy does not shout in triumph over me.

There is a river—its streams delight the city of God,the holy dwelling place of the Most High.

Then You will delight in righteous sacrifices,whole burnt offerings;then bulls will be offered on Your altar.

For Your servants take delight in its stonesand favor its dust.

He loved cursing—let it fall on him;he took no delight in blessing—let it be far from him.

The Lord’s works are great,studied by all who delight in them.

Hallelujah!Happy is the man who fears the Lord,taking great delight in His commands.

I will delight in Your statutes;I will not forget Your word.

Your decrees are my delightand my counselors.

I delight in Your commands,which I love.

Their hearts are hard and insensitive,but I delight in Your instruction.

May Your compassion come to meso that I may live,for Your instruction is my delight.

If Your instruction had not been my delight,I would have died in my affliction.

Trouble and distress have overtaken me,but Your commands are my delight.

I long for Your salvation, Lord,and Your instruction is my delight.

For wisdom will enter your mind,and knowledge will delight your heart.

I was a skilled craftsman beside Him.I was His delight every day,always rejoicing before Him.

Dishonest scales are detestable to the Lord,but an accurate weight is His delight.

Those with twisted minds are detestable to the Lord,but those with blameless conduct are His delight.

Lying lips are detestable to the Lord,but faithful people are His delight.

The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable to the Lord,but the prayer of the upright is His delight.

Righteous lips are a king’s delight,and he loves one who speaks honestly.

A fool does not delight in understanding,but only wants to show off his opinions.

The father of a righteous son will rejoice greatly,and one who fathers a wise son will delight in him.

Discipline your son, and it will bring you peace of mindand give you delight.

When you make a vow to God, don’t delay fulfilling it, because He does not delight in fools. Fulfill what you vow.

So remember your Creator in the days of your youth:Before the days of adversity come,and the years approach when you will say,“I have no delight in them”;

W Like an apricot tree among the trees of the forest,so is my love among the young men.I delight to sit in his shade,and his fruit is sweet to my taste.

His delight will be in the fear of the Lord.He will not judgeby what He sees with His eyes,He will not execute justiceby what He hears with His ears,

“This is My Servant; I strengthen Him,this is My Chosen One; I delight in Him.I have put My Spirit on Him;He will bring justice to the nations.

They seek Me day after dayand delight to know My ways,like a nation that does what is rightand does not abandon the justice of their God.They ask Me for righteous judgments;they delight in the nearness of God.”

“If you keep from desecrating the Sabbath,from doing whatever you want on My holy day;if you call the Sabbath a delight,and the holy day of the Lord honorable;if you honor it, not going your own ways,seeking your own pleasure, or talking too much;

then you will delight yourself in the Lord,and I will make you ride over the heights of the land,and let you enjoy the heritage of your father Jacob.”For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

You will no longer be called Deserted,and your land will not be called Desolate;instead, you will be called My Delight is in Her,and your land Married;for the Lord delights in you,and your land will be married.

I will destine you for the sword,and all of you will kneel down to be slaughtered,because I called and you did not answer,I spoke and you did not hear;you did what was evil in My sightand chose what I did not delight in.

Then be glad and rejoice foreverin what I am creating;for I will create Jerusalem to be a joyand its people to be a delight.

One slaughters an ox, one kills a man;one sacrifices a lamb, one breaks a dog’s neck;one offers a grain offering, one offers pig’s blood;one offers incense, one praises an idol—all these have chosen their waysand delight in their detestable practices.

So I will choose their punishment,and I will bring on them what they dreadbecause I called and no one answered;I spoke and they didn’t hear;they did what was evil in My sightand chose what I didn’t delight in.

so that you may nurse and be satisfiedfrom her comforting breastand drink deeply and delight yourselvesfrom her glorious breasts.

But the one who boasts should boast in this,that he understands and knows Me—that I am Yahweh, showing faithful love,justice, and righteousness on the earth,for I delight in these things.This is the Lord’s declaration.

Your words were found, and I ate them.Your words became a delight to meand the joy of my heart,for I am called by Your name,Yahweh God of Hosts.

“Son of man, I am about to take the delight of your eyes away from you with a fatal blow. But you must not lament or weep or let your tears flow.

‘Say to the house of Israel: This is what the Lord God says: I am about to desecrate My sanctuary, the pride of your power, the delight of your eyes, and the desire of your heart. Also, the sons and daughters you left behind will fall by the sword.

“‘Son of man, know that on the day I take their stronghold from them, their pride and joy, the delight of their eyes and the longing of their hearts, as well as their sons and daughters,

Yahweh your God is among you,a warrior who saves.He will rejoice over you with gladness.He will bring you quietness with His love.He will delight in you with shouts of joy.”

And there came a voice from heaven:This is My beloved Son.I take delight in Him!

While he was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said:This is My beloved Son.I take delight in Him.Listen to Him!

And a voice came from heaven:You are My beloved Son;I take delight in You!

David himself calls Him ‘Lord’; how then can the Messiah be his Son?” And the large crowd was listening to Him with delight.

There will be joy and delight for you,and many will rejoice at his birth.

and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in a physical appearance like a dove. And a voice came from heaven:You are My beloved Son.I take delight in You!

You did not delightin whole burnt offerings and sin offerings.

After He says above, You did not want or delight in sacrifices and offerings, whole burnt offerings and sin offerings (which are offered according to the law),

For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, a voice came to Him from the Majestic Glory:This is My beloved Son.I take delight in Him!
