At the hour of incense the whole assembly of the people was praying outside.

And he will go before Himin the spirit and power of Elijah,to turn the hearts of fathersto their children,and the disobedientto the understanding of the righteous,to make ready for the Lord a prepared people.

Meanwhile, the people were waiting for Zechariah, amazed that he stayed so long in the sanctuary.

“The Lord has done this for me. He has looked with favor in these days to take away my disgrace among the people.”

Praise the Lord, the God of Israel,because He has visitedand provided redemption for His people.

But the angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for look, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people:

Now the people were waiting expectantly, and all of them were debating in their minds whether John might be the Messiah.

Then, along with many other exhortations, he proclaimed good news to the people.

and so were James and John, Zebedee’s sons, who were Simon’s partners.“Don’t be afraid,” Jesus told Simon. “From now on you will be catching people!”

After coming down with them, He stood on a level place with a large crowd of His disciples and a great number of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon.

Woe to youwhen all people speak well of you,for this is the way their ancestorsused to treat the false prophets.

When He had concluded all His sayings in the hearing of the people, He entered Capernaum.

Then fear came over everyone, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen among us,” and “God has visited His people.”

At that time Jesus healed many people of diseases, plagues, and evil spirits, and He granted sight to many blind people.

(And when all the people, including the tax collectors, heard this, they acknowledged God’s way of righteousness, because they had been baptized with John’s baptism.

“To what then should I compare the people of this generation, and what are they like?

As a large crowd was gathering, and people were flocking to Him from every town, He said in a parable:

Then people went out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus and found the man the demons had departed from, sitting at Jesus’ feet, dressed and in his right mind. And they were afraid.

Then all the people of the Gerasene region asked Him to leave them, because they were gripped by great fear. So getting into the boat, He returned.

When the woman saw that she was discovered, she came trembling and fell down before Him. In the presence of all the people, she declared the reason she had touched Him and how she was instantly cured.

“You give them something to eat,” He told them.“We have no more than five loaves and two fish,” they said, “unless we go and buy food for all these people.”

For just as Jonah became a sign to the people of Nineveh, so also the Son of Man will be to this generation.

“Woe to you! You are like unmarked graves; the people who walk over them don’t know it.”

Then He said: “Woe also to you experts in the law! You load people with burdens that are hard to carry, yet you yourselves don’t touch these burdens with one of your fingers.

But I will show you the One to fear: Fear Him who has authority to throw people into hell after death. Yes, I say to you, this is the One to fear!

At that time, some people came and reported to Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.

Or those 18 that the tower in Siloam fell on and killed—do you think they were more sinful than all the people who live in Jerusalem?

I know what I’ll do so that when I’m removed from management, people will welcome me into their homes.’

“The master praised the unrighteous manager because he had acted astutely. For the sons of this age are more astute than the sons of light in dealing with their own people.

People went on eating, drinking, marrying and giving in marriage until the day Noah boarded the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

It will be the same as it was in the days of Lot: People went on eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building.

The Pharisee took his stand and was praying like this: ‘God, I thank You that I’m not like other people —greedy, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

Some people were even bringing infants to Him so He might touch them, but when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

Instantly he could see, and he began to follow Him, glorifying God. All the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

Every day He was teaching in the temple complex. The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people were looking for a way to destroy Him,

but they could not find a way to do it, because all the people were captivated by what they heard.

One day as He was teaching the people in the temple complex and proclaiming the good news, the chief priests and the scribes, with the elders, came up

But if we say, ‘From men,’ all the people will stone us, because they are convinced that John was a prophet.”

Then He began to tell the people this parable: “A man planted a vineyard, leased it to tenant farmers, and went away for a long time.

Then the scribes and the chief priests looked for a way to get their hands on Him that very hour, because they knew He had told this parable against them, but they feared the people.

While all the people were listening, He said to His disciples,

For all these people have put in gifts out of their surplus, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on.”

Then all the people would come early in the morning to hear Him in the temple complex.

The chief priests and the scribes were looking for a way to put Him to death, because they were afraid of the people.

When daylight came, the elders of the people, both the chief priests and the scribes, convened and brought Him before their Sanhedrin.

But they kept insisting, “He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, from Galilee where He started even to here.”

Pilate called together the chief priests, the leaders, and the people,

and said to them, “You have brought me this man as one who subverts the people. But in fact, after examining Him in your presence, I have found no grounds to charge this man with those things you accuse Him of.

A large crowd of people followed Him, including women who were mourning and lamenting Him.

The people stood watching, and even the leaders kept scoffing: “He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One!”

“What things?” He asked them.So they said to Him, “The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, who was a Prophet powerful in action and speech before God and all the people,
