'Seeing' in the Bible
Then Herod, seeing that he had been mocked by the magi, was greatly enraged; and sent and slew all the boys which were in Bethlehem, and in all its borders, from two years and under, according to the time which he had accurately inquired from the magi.
But seeing many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, Offspring of vipers, who has forewarned you to flee from the coming wrath?
And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
that thy kindness may be in secret, and thy Father who is seeing in secret Himself shall reward thee manifestly.
But thou, when thou mayest pray, go into thy chamber, and having shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who is seeing in secret, shall reward thee manifestly.
that thou mayest not appear to men fasting, but to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father, who is seeing in secret, shall reward thee manifestly.
And Jesus, seeing great crowds around him, commanded to depart to the other side.
And all the town came out to Jesus; and seeing him they made request that he would go away from their part of the country.
And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.
And Jesus, seeing their thoughts, said, Why do ye think evil things in your hearts?
But the crowds seeing it, were in fear, and glorified God who gave such power to men.
And the Pharisees seeing it, said to his disciples, Why does your teacher eat with tax-gatherers and sinners?
But Jesus turning and seeing her, said, Be of good courage, daughter; thy faith has healed thee. And the woman was healed from that hour.
Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd.
And Jesus, answering, said to them, Go and give news to John of the things which you are seeing and hearing:
And blessed [joyful, favored by God] is he who does not take offense at Me [accepting Me as the Messiah and trusting confidently in My message of salvation].”
But the Pharisees, seeing it, said to him, Behold, thy disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on sabbath.
Then they took to him one with an evil spirit, who was blind and had no power of talking: and he made him well so that he had the power of talking and seeing.
Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
For this people's mind is stupefied, their hearing has become dull, and their eyes they have closed; to prevent their ever seeing with their eyes, or hearing with their ears, or understanding with their minds, and turning back, so that I might heal them.'
And the disciples, seeing him walking on the sea, were troubled, saying, It is an apparition. And they cried out through fear.
but seeing the wind vehement, he was afraid, and having begun to sink, he cried out, saying, 'Sir, save me.'
So the crowd was amazed when they saw those unable to speak talking, the deformed restored, the lame walking, and the blind seeing. And they gave glory to the God of Israel.
And Jesus, seeing it, said, O you of little faith, why are you reasoning among yourselves, because you have no bread?
His fellow servants, therefore, seeing what had happened, were exceedingly angry; and they came and told their master without reserve all that had happened.
then having called him, his lord saith to him, Evil servant! all that debt I did forgive thee, seeing thou didst call upon me,
Seeing a lone fig tree by the road, He went up to it and found nothing on it except leaves. And He said to it, “May no fruit ever come from you again!” At once the fig tree withered.
Seeing this, the disciples were amazed and asked, “How did the fig tree wither all at once?”
For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him; but the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him; and you, seeing this, did not even feel remorse afterward so as to believe him.
But the husbandmen, seeing the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him and possess his inheritance.
and seeking to lay hold on him, they feared the multitudes, seeing they were holding him as a prophet.
But the disciples seeing it became indignant, saying, To what end was this waste?
But Jesus, seeing it, said to them, Why are you troubling the woman? she has done a kind act to me.
Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was full of remorse and returned the 30 pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders.
And the chief priests having taken the silverlings, said, 'It is not lawful to put them to the treasury, seeing it is the price of blood;'
And Pilate, seeing that it availed nothing, but that rather a tumult was arising, having taken water, washed his hands before the crowd, saying, I am guiltless of the blood of this righteous one: see ye to it.
But the centurion, and they who were with him on guard over Jesus, seeing the earthquake and the things that took place, feared greatly, saying, Truly this man was Son of God.
