'Free' in the Bible
After he said, "From foreigners," Jesus said to him, "Then the sons are free.
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and the regaining of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed,
and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
"We are descendants of Abraham," they replied, "and have never been anyone's slaves! How can you say, 'You will become free'?"
For when you were slaves of sin, you were free with regard to righteousness.
So then, if she is joined to another man while her husband is alive, she will be called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and if she is joined to another man, she is not an adulteress.
For the law of the life-giving Spirit in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.
that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage of decay into the glorious freedom of God's children.
Were you called as a slave? Do not worry about it. But if indeed you are able to be free, make the most of the opportunity.
For the one who was called in the Lord as a slave is the Lord's freedman. In the same way, the one who was called as a free person is Christ's slave.
And I want you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the things of the Lord, how to please the Lord.
A wife is bound as long as her husband is living. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes (only someone in the Lord).
