'Sword' in the Bible
Then, if anyone hears the sound of the trumpet but ignores the warning, and the sword comes and takes him away, his blood will be on his own head.
However, if the watchman sees the sword coming but doesn’t blow the trumpet, so that the people aren’t warned, and the sword comes and takes away their lives, then they have been taken away because of their iniquity, but I will hold the watchman accountable for their blood.
“Tell them this: This is what the Lord God says: As surely as I live, those who are in the ruins will fall by the sword, those in the open field I have given to wild animals to be devoured, and those in the strongholds and caves will die by plague.
“Because you maintained an ancient hatred and handed over the Israelites to the power of the sword in the time of their disaster, the time of final punishment,
I will fill its mountains with the slain; those slain by the sword will fall on your hills, in your valleys, and in all your ravines.
I will call for a sword against him on all My mountains”—the declaration of the Lord God—“and every man’s sword will be against his brother.
And the nations will know that the house of Israel went into exile on account of their iniquity, because they dealt unfaithfully with Me. Therefore, I hid My face from them and handed them over to their enemies, so that they all fell by the sword.
Those who are wise among the people will give understanding to many, yet they will die by sword and flame, and be captured and plundered for a time.
But I will have compassion on the house of Judah,and I will deliver them by the Lord their God.I will not deliver them by bow, sword, or war,or by horses and cavalry.
On that day I will make a covenant for themwith the wild animals, the birds of the sky,and the creatures that crawl on the ground.I will shatter bow, sword,and weapons of war in the landand will enable the people to rest securely.
They turn, but not to what is above;they are like a faulty bow.Their leaders will fall by the swordbecause of the cursing of their tongue.They will be ridiculed for this in the land of Egypt.
A sword will whirl through his cities;it will destroy and devour the bars of his gates,because of their schemes.

for Amos has said this: ‘Jeroboam will die by the sword, and Israel will certainly go into exile from its homeland.’”
Therefore, this is what the Lord says:Your wife will be a prostitute in the city,your sons and daughters will fall by the sword,and your land will be divided upwith a measuring line.You yourself will die on pagan soil,and Israel will certainly go into exilefrom its homeland.
I saw the Lord standing beside the altar, and He said:Strike the capitals of the pillarsso that the thresholds shake;knock them down on the heads of all the people.Then I will kill the rest of them with the sword.None of those who flee will get away;none of the fugitives will escape.
And if they are drivenby their enemies into captivity,from there I will commandthe sword to kill them.I will fix My eyes on themfor harm and not for good.
All the sinners among My peoplewho say: “Disaster will never overtakeor confront us,”will die by the sword.
He will settle disputes among many peoplesand provide arbitration for strong nationsthat are far away.They will beat their swords into plows,and their spears into pruning knives.Nation will not take up the sword against nation,and they will never again train for war.
They will shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword,the land of Nimrod with a drawn blade.So He will rescue us from Assyriawhen it invades our land,when it marches against our territory.
You will eat but not be satisfied,for there will be hunger within you.What you acquire, you cannot save,and what you do save,I will give to the sword.

Sword, awake against My shepherd,against the man who is My associate—this is the declaration of the Lord of Hosts.Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered;I will also turn My hand against the little ones.
Don’t assume that I came to bring peace on the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it, struck the high priest’s slave, and cut off his right ear. (The slave’s name was Malchus.)
At that, Jesus said to Peter, “Sheathe your sword! Am I not to drink the cup the Father has given Me?”
