We ought always to give thanks to God on your account, my brethren, as it is fit; because your faith increaseth greatly, and the love of every one of you towards each other aboundeth:
Meditate on these things, be wholly in them, that thy proficiency may be manifest in all.
And to this giving all diligence, add to your faith fortitude; and to fortitude knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience piety; and to piety brotherly affection; and to brotherly affection charity.
Abide therefore in me, and I will abide in you: for as the branch cannot bear fruit of it self, unless it abide in the vine; so neither can ye, except ye abide in me.
but holding the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him, who is the head, even Christ:
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, and well-pleasing to God, as your rational service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may experience what is the good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.
But put on the Lord Jesus, and make not provision for the flesh to gratify its irregular desires.
Be ye then imitators of me, as I also am of Christ.
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ, have put on Christ:
and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable to his death;
And ye became imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word tho' in much affliction, yet with joy of the holy Ghost.
For unto this are ye called; because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that ye might follow his steps.
He that saith, he abideth in Him, ought himself also so to walk even as He walked.
I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known Him that is from the beginning: and I have written to you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one---
Watch and pray that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Do not withdraw from one another, unless by consent for a season, that ye may attend to fasting and prayer: and come together again, least Satan tempt you through your incontinency.
No temptation has yet taken you but what is common to man: and God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what ye are able to sustain; but will with the temptation also make a way of escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
For this cause being able to wait no longer, I sent to know the state of your faith, least the tempter should have tempted you, and our labor have been in vain.
for as He himself hath suffered, in being tempted, He is able to succour those that are tempted.
Account it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into various trials: knowing this, that the trial of your faith worketh patience;
Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which is to come upon the whole world, to try those that dwell upon the earth.
Maintain the glorious combat of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which thou hast been called, and hast made a good profession before many witnesses.
If ye endure chastening, God treateth you as sons; for what son is there, whom the father doth not chastise? But if ye be without chastisement, of which all are partakers, then are ye bastards and not sons. Now if we had fathers of our flesh, who corrected us, and we gave them reverence; shall we not much more be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live?read more.
For they indeed corrected us for a while, as seemed good to them; but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness. Now no chastening seems for the present to be matter of joy but of grief: and yet afterwards it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those that are exercised thereby.
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayst be rich; and white raiment that thou mayst be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness may not appear: and anoint thine eyes with eye-salve, that thou mayst see. Whomsoever I love, I reprove and chasten: be zealous therefore and repent.
Be watchful, stand fast in the faith, behave like men, be strong:
Moreover, my brethren, strengthen yourselves in the Lord, and in his mighty power.
Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace which is in Christ Jesus:
And be not drunk with wine, in which there is riotous excess; but be filled with the Spirit:
I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye will not fulfil the desire of the flesh: for the flesh desireth things contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit things contrary to the flesh: and these are opposite to each other; so that ye do not those things which ye would. But if ye be led by the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
For our gospel came not to you in word only, but also in power, and in the holy Ghost, and in much certainty; as ye know what sort of persons we were among you for your sakes.
I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at his appearing, in his kingdom; preach the word, be instant both in season and out of season; convince, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and instruction. For the time will come, when they will not bear sound doctrine; but having itching ears, will heap up to themselves teachers after their own hearts:
For whereas ye ought for the time to be teachers of others, ye have need again of some one to teach you the first rudiments of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk and not of solid food.
and envies, and all evil-speakings, as new-born babes desire that rational milk which is without guile, that ye may grow thereby:
And the child grew, and became strong in spirit: and he was in the deserts till the time of his being manifested to Israel.
And the child grew, and became strong in spirit, being filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, fidelity, meekness, temperance: against such things there is no law.
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ: to Him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
But we all with unveiled face beholding, as in a glass, the glory of the Lord, are transformed according to the same image from glory to glory, as proceeding from the Spirit of the Lord.
And therefore He gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers; to qualify holy men for the work of the ministry, to the edifying of the body of Christ: till we all arrive in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, at perfect maturity, even to the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.read more.
That we may be no longer children fluctuating and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the artful insinuations of men, and their crafty methods of deceiving; but holding the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him, who is the head, even Christ:
not that I have yet won the prize, or am already perfect: but I press forward to acquire that perfection, for which also I have been apprehended by Christ Jesus.
that ye may walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
For this is the will of God, even your sanctification: that ye should abstain from fornication, and that every one of you should possess his vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, like the heathens who know not God.read more.
