The Chief Priests And Scribes Plot To Kill Jesus

11 Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which is called the Passover, was approaching.

11 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.

11 The Festival of Unleavened Bread, which is called Passover, was drawing near.

11 Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread, which is called the Passover, was near.

11 Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread was drawing near, which is called the Passover.

22 The chief priests and the scribes were seeking how they might put Him to death; for they were afraid of the people.

22 And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.

22 The chief priests and the scribes were looking for a way to put Him to death, because they were afraid of the people.

22 So the high priests and the scribes were looking for a way to put him to death, because they were afraid of the crowd.

22 And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to do away with [Jesus], for they feared the people.

Judas Arranges To Betray Jesus

33 And Satan entered into Judas who was called Iscariot, belonging to the number of the twelve.

33 Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.

33 Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, who was numbered among the Twelve.

33 But Satan went into Judas called Iscariot, who belonged to the circle of the Twelve.

33 But [then] Satan entered into Judas, called Iscariot, who was one of the Twelve [apostles].

44 And he went away and discussed with the chief priests and officers how he might betray Him to them.

44 And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.

44 He went away and discussed with the chief priests and temple police how he could hand Him over to them.

44 So he went off and discussed with the high priests and the Temple police how he could betray Jesus to them.

44 And he went away and discussed with the chief priests and captains how he might betray Him and deliver Him up to them.

55 They were glad and agreed to give him money.

55 And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.

55 They were glad and agreed to give him silver.

55 They were delighted, and agreed to give him money.

55 And they were delighted and pledged [themselves] to give him money.

66 So he consented, and began seeking a good opportunity to betray Him to them apart from the crowd.

66 And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

66 So he accepted [the offer] and started looking for a good opportunity to betray Him to them when the crowd was not present.

66 Judas accepted their offer and began to look for a good opportunity to betray Jesus to them when no crowd was present.

66 So he agreed [to this], and sought an opportunity to betray Him to them [without an uprising] in the absence of the throng.

Jesus' Final Passover With The Disciples

77 Then came the first day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.

77 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.

77 Then the Day of Unleavened Bread came when the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.

77 Then the day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread came, on which the Passover lamb was to be sacrificed.

77 Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover [lamb] had to be slain.

88 And Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, "Go and prepare the Passover for us, so that we may eat it."

88 And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.

88 Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, "Go and prepare the Passover meal for us, so we can eat it."

88 So Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, "Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover meal."

88 So Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare for us the Passover meal, that we may eat it.

99 They said to Him, "Where do You want us to prepare it?"

99 And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare?

99 "Where do You want us to prepare it?" they asked Him.

99 They asked him, "Where do you want us to prepare it?"

99 They said to Him, Where do You want us to prepare [it]?

1010 And He said to them, "When you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house that he enters.

1010 And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in.

1010 "Listen," He said to them, "when you've entered the city, a man carrying a water jug will meet you. Follow him into the house he enters.

1010 He told them, "Just after you go into the city, a man carrying a jug of water will meet you. Follow him into the house he enters

1010 He said to them, Behold, when you have gone into the city, a man carrying an earthen jug or pitcher of water will meet you; follow him into the house which he enters,

1111 "And you shall say to the owner of the house, 'The Teacher says to you, "Where is the guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?"'

1111 And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

1111 Tell the owner of the house, 'The Teacher asks you, "Where is the guest room where I can eat the Passover with My disciples?" '

1111 and say to the owner of the house, "The Teacher asks you, "Where is the room where I can eat the Passover meal with my disciples?"'

1111 And say to the master of the house, The Teacher asks you, Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover [meal] with My disciples?

1212 "And he will show you a large, furnished upper room; prepare it there."

1212 And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.

1212 Then he will show you a large, furnished room upstairs. Make the preparations there."

1212 Then he will show you a large upstairs room that is furnished. Get things ready for us there."

1212 And he will show you a large room upstairs, furnished [with carpets and with couches properly spread]; there make [your] preparations.

1313 And they left and found everything just as He had told them; and they prepared the Passover.

1313 And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

1313 So they went and found it just as He had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

1313 So they went and found everything just as Jesus had told them, and they prepared the Passover meal.

1313 And they went and found it [just] as He had said to them; and they made ready the Passover [supper].

The Lord's Supper

1414 When the hour had come, He reclined at the table, and the apostles with Him.

1414 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.

1414 When the hour came, He reclined at the table, and the apostles with Him.

1414 Now when the hour came, Jesus took his place at the table, along with his apostles.

1414 And when the hour came, [Jesus] reclined at table, and the apostles with Him.

1515 And He said to them, "I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer;

1515 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:

1515 Then He said to them, "I have fervently desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.

1515 He told them, "I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover meal with you before I suffer,

1515 And He said to them, I have earnestly and intensely desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer;

1616 for I say to you, I shall never again eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God."

1616 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

1616 For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God."

1616 because I tell all of you, I will never eat it again until it finds its fulfillment in the kingdom of God."

1616 For I say to you, I shall eat it no more until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

1717 And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He said, "Take this and share it among yourselves;

1717 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:

1717 Then He took a cup, and after giving thanks, He said, "Take this and share it among yourselves.

1717 Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and said, "Take this and share it among yourselves,

1717 And He took a cup, and when He had given thanks, He said, Take this and divide and distribute it among yourselves;

1818 for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes."

1818 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.

1818 For I tell you, from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes."

1818 because I tell you, from now on I will never drink the product of the vine until the kingdom of God comes."

1818 For I say to you that from now on I shall not drink of the fruit of the vine at all until the kingdom of God comes.

1919 And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me."

1919 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

1919 And He took bread, gave thanks, broke it, gave it to them, and said, "This is My body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of Me."

1919 Then he took a loaf of bread, gave thanks, broke it in pieces, and handed it to them, saying, "This is my body, which is given for you. Keep on doing this in memory of me."

1919 Then He took a loaf [of bread], and when He had given thanks, He broke [it] and gave it to them saying, This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.

2020 And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.

2020 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

2020 In the same way He also took the cup after supper and said, "This cup is the new covenant [established by] My blood; it is shed for you.

2020 He did the same with the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant sealed by my blood, which is being poured out for you.

2020 And in like manner, He took the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament or covenant [ratified] in My blood, which is shed (poured out) for you.

A Final Discourse

2121 "But behold, the hand of the one betraying Me is with Mine on the table.

2121 But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.

2121 But look, the hand of the one betraying Me is at the table with Me!

2121 Yet look! The hand of the man who is betraying me is with me on the table!

2121 But, behold, the hand of him who is now engaged in betraying Me is with Me on the table.

2222 "For indeed, the Son of Man is going as it has been determined; but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!"

2222 And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!

2222 For the Son of Man will go away as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!"

2222 The Son of Man is going away, just as it has been determined, but how terrible it will be for that man by whom he is betrayed!"

2222 For the Son of Man is going as it has been determined and appointed, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed and delivered up!

2323 And they began to discuss among themselves which one of them it might be who was going to do this thing.

2323 And they began to inquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.

2323 So they began to argue among themselves which of them it could be who was going to do this thing.

2323 Then they began to discuss among themselves which one of them was going to do this.

2323 And they began to inquire among themselves which of them it was who was about to do this.

A Dispute About Who Is Greatest

2424 And there arose also a dispute among them as to which one of them was regarded to be greatest.

2424 And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.

2424 Then a dispute also arose among them about who should be considered the greatest.

2424 Now an argument sprang up among them as to which one of them was to be regarded as the greatest.

2424 Now an eager contention arose among them [as to] which of them was considered and reputed to be the greatest.

2525 And He said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who have authority over them are called 'Benefactors.'

2525 And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.

2525 But He said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles dominate them, and those who have authority over them are called 'Benefactors.'

2525 But he told them, "The kings of the unbelievers lord it over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called benefactors.

2525 But Jesus said to them, The kings of the Gentiles are deified by them and exercise lordship [ ruling as emperor-gods] over them; and those in authority over them are called benefactors and well-doers.

2626 "But it is not this way with you, but the one who is the greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader like the servant.

2626 But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.

2626 But it must not be like that among you. On the contrary, whoever is greatest among you must become like the youngest, and whoever leads, like the one serving.

2626 But you are not to do so. On the contrary, the greatest among you should become like the youngest, and the one who leads should become like the one who serves.

2626 But this is not to be so with you; on the contrary, let him who is the greatest among you become like the youngest, and him who is the chief and leader like one who serves.

2727 "For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves.

2727 For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.

2727 For who is greater, the one at the table or the one serving? Isn't it the one at the table? But I am among you as the One who serves.

2727 Because who is greater, the one who sits at the table, or the one who serves? It is the one at the table, isn't it? But I'm among you as one who serves.

2727 For who is the greater, the one who reclines at table (the master), or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am in your midst as One Who serves.

2828 "You are those who have stood by Me in My trials;

2828 Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.

2828 You are the ones who stood by Me in My trials.

2828 "You are the ones who have always stood by me in my trials.

2828 And you are those who have remained [throughout] and persevered with Me in My trials;

2929 and just as My Father has granted Me a kingdom, I grant you

2929 And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;

2929 I bestow on you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one on Me,

2929 And I confer a kingdom on you, just as my Father has conferred a kingdom on me,

2929 And as My Father has appointed a kingdom and conferred it on Me, so do I confer on you [the privilege and decree],

3030 that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

3030 That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

3030 so that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom. And you will sit on thrones judging the 12 tribes of Israel.

3030 so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit down on thrones to govern the twelve tribes of Israel."

3030 That you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Jesus Predicts Peter's Denial

3131 "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat;

3131 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

3131 "Simon, Simon, look out! Satan has asked to sift you like wheat.

3131 "Simon, Simon, listen! Satan has asked permission to sift all of you like wheat,

3131 Simon, Simon (Peter), listen! Satan has asked excessively that [all of] you be given up to him [out of the power and keeping of God], that he might sift [all of] you like grain,

3232 but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers."

3232 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

3232 But I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And you, when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers."

3232 but I have prayed for you that your own faith may not fail. When you have come back, you must strengthen your brothers."

3232 But I have prayed especially for you [Peter], that your [own] faith may not fail; and when you yourself have turned again, strengthen and establish your brethren.

3333 But he said to Him, "Lord, with You I am ready to go both to prison and to death!"

3333 And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.

3333 "Lord," he told Him, "I'm ready to go with You both to prison and to death!"

3333 Peter told him, "Lord, I am ready to go even to prison and to die with you!"

3333 And [Simon Peter] said to Him, Lord, I am ready to go with You both to prison and to death.

3434 And He said, "I say to you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me."

3434 And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

3434 "I tell you, Peter," He said, "the rooster will not crow today until you deny three times that you know Me!"

3434 But Jesus said, "I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you deny three times that you know me."

3434 But Jesus said, I tell you, Peter, before a [single] cock shall crow this day, you will three times [utterly] deny that you know Me.

The Two Swords

3535 And He said to them, "When I sent you out without money belt and bag and sandals, you did not lack anything, did you?" They said, "No, nothing."

3535 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.

3535 He also said to them, "When I sent you out without money-bag, traveling bag, or sandals, did you lack anything?" "Not a thing," they said.

3535 Then Jesus asked his disciples, "When I sent you out without a wallet, traveling bag, or sandals, you didn't lack anything, did you?" They replied, "Nothing at all."

3535 And He said to them, When I sent you out with no purse or [provision] bag or sandals, did you lack anything? They answered, Nothing!

3636 And He said to them, "But now, whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and whoever has no sword is to sell his coat and buy one.

3636 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

3636 Then He said to them, "But now, whoever has a money-bag should take it, and also a traveling bag. And whoever doesn't have a sword should sell his robe and buy one.

3636 Then he told them, "But now whoever has a wallet must take it along, and his traveling bag, too. And the one who has no sword must sell his coat and buy one.

3636 Then He said to them, But now let him who has a purse take it, and also [his provision] bag; and let him who has no sword sell his mantle and buy a sword.

3737 "For I tell you that this which is written must be fulfilled in Me, 'AND HE WAS NUMBERED WITH TRANSGRESSORS'; for that which refers to Me has its fulfillment."

3737 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.

3737 For I tell you, what is written must be fulfilled in Me: And He was counted among the outlaws. Yes, what is written about Me is coming to its fulfillment."

3737 Because I tell you, what has been written about me must be fulfilled: "He was counted among the criminals.' Indeed, what is written about me must be fulfilled."

3737 For I tell you that this Scripture must yet be fulfilled in Me: And He was counted and classed among the wicked (the outlaws, the criminals); for what is written about Me has its fulfillment [has reached its end and is finally settled].

3838 They said, "Lord, look, here are two swords." And He said to them, "It is enough."

3838 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.

3838 "Lord," they said, "look, here are two swords." "Enough of that!" He told them.

3838 So they said, "Lord, look! Here are two swords." He answered them, "Enough of that!"

3838 And they said, Look, Lord! Here are two swords. And He said to them, It is enough.

The Prayer In Gethsemane

3939 And He came out and proceeded as was His custom to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed Him.

3939 And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.

3939 He went out and made His way as usual to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed Him.

3939 Then he left and went to the Mount of Olives, as usual. The disciples went with him.

3939 And He came out and went, as was His habit, to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples also followed Him.

4040 When He arrived at the place, He said to them, "Pray that you may not enter into temptation."

4040 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

4040 When He reached the place, He told them, "Pray that you may not enter into temptation."

4040 When he arrived, he told them, "Keep on praying that you may not be tempted."

4040 And when He came to the place, He said to them, Pray that you may not [at all] enter into temptation.

4141 And He withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and He knelt down and began to pray,

4141 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,

4141 Then He withdrew from them about a stone's throw, knelt down, and began to pray,

4141 Then he withdrew from them about a stone's throw, knelt down, and began to pray,

4141 And He withdrew from them about a stone's throw and knelt down and prayed,

4242 saying, "Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done."

4242 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

4242 "Father, if You are willing, take this cup away from Me-nevertheless, not My will, but Yours, be done." [

4242 "Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me. Yet not my will but yours be done."

4242 Saying, Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but [ always] Yours be done.

4343 Now an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him.

4343 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

4343 Then an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him.

4343 Then an angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.

4343 And there appeared to Him an angel from heaven, strengthening Him in spirit.

4444 And being in agony He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground.

4444 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

4444 Being in anguish, He prayed more fervently, and His sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground.]

4444 In his anguish he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat became like large drops of blood falling on the ground.

4444 And being in an agony [of mind], He prayed [all the] more earnestly and intently, and His sweat became like great clots of blood dropping down upon the ground.

4545 When He rose from prayer, He came to the disciples and found them sleeping from sorrow,

4545 And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,

4545 When He got up from prayer and came to the disciples, He found them sleeping, exhausted from their grief.

4545 When he got up from prayer, he went to the disciples and found them asleep from sorrow.

4545 And when He got up from prayer, He came to the disciples and found them sleeping from grief,

4646 and said to them, "Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you may not enter into temptation."

4646 And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

4646 "Why are you sleeping?" He asked them. "Get up and pray, so that you won't enter into temptation."

4646 He asked them, "Why are you sleeping? Get up and keep on praying that you may not be tempted."

4646 And He said to them, Why do you sleep? Get up and pray that you may not enter [at all] into temptation.

The Betrayal And Arrest Of Jesus

4747 While He was still speaking, behold, a crowd came, and the one called Judas, one of the twelve, was preceding them; and he approached Jesus to kiss Him.

4747 And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.

4747 While He was still speaking, suddenly a mob was there, and one of the Twelve named Judas was leading them. He came near Jesus to kiss Him,

4747 While Jesus was still speaking, a crowd arrived. The man called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them, and he came close to Jesus to kiss him.

4747 And while He was still speaking, behold, there came a crowd, and the man called Judas, one of the Twelve [apostles], was going before [leading] them. He drew near to Jesus to kiss Him,

4848 But Jesus said to him, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?"

4848 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?

4848 but Jesus said to him, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?"

4848 But Jesus asked him, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?"

4848 But Jesus said to him, Judas! Would you betray and deliver up the Son of Man with a kiss?

4949 When those who were around Him saw what was going to happen, they said, "Lord, shall we strike with the sword?"

4949 When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?

4949 When those around Him saw what was going to happen, they asked, "Lord, should we strike with the sword?"

4949 When those who were around Jesus saw what was about to take place, they asked, "Lord, should we attack with our swords?"

4949 And when those who were around Him saw what was about to happen, they said, Lord, shall we strike with the sword?

5050 And one of them struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his right ear.

5050 And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

5050 Then one of them struck the high priest's slave and cut off his right ear.

5050 Then one of them struck the high priest's servant, cutting off his right ear.

5050 And one of them struck the bond servant of the high priest and cut off his ear, the right one.

5151 But Jesus answered and said, "Stop! No more of this." And He touched his ear and healed him.

5151 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.

5151 But Jesus responded, "No more of this!" And touching his ear, He healed him.

5151 But Jesus said, "No more of this!" So he touched the wounded man's ear and healed him.

5151 But Jesus said, Permit them to go so far [as to seize Me]. And He touched the little (insignificant) ear and healed him.

5252 Then Jesus said to the chief priests and officers of the temple and elders who had come against Him, "Have you come out with swords and clubs as you would against a robber?

5252 Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?

5252 Then Jesus said to the chief priests, temple police, and the elders who had come for Him, "Have you come out with swords and clubs as if I were a criminal?

5252 Then Jesus told the high priests, the Temple police, and the elders, who had come for him, "Have you come out with swords and clubs as if I were a bandit?

5252 Then Jesus said to those who had come out against Him -- "the chief priests and captains of the temple and elders [of the Sanhedrin] -- "Have you come out with swords and clubs as [you would] against a robber?

5353 "While I was with you daily in the temple, you did not lay hands on Me; but this hour and the power of darkness are yours."

5353 When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

5353 Every day while I was with you in the temple complex, you never laid a hand on Me. But this is your hour-and the dominion of darkness."

5353 While I was with you day after day in the Temple, you didn't lay a hand on me. But this is your hour, when darkness reigns!"

5353 When I was with you day after day in the temple [ enclosure], you did not stretch forth [your] hands against Me. But this is your hour -- "and the power [which] darkness [gives you has its way].

Jesus Before The Sanhedrin

5454 Having arrested Him, they led Him away and brought Him to the house of the high priest; but Peter was following at a distance.

5454 Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off.

5454 They seized Him, led Him away, and brought Him into the high priest's house. Meanwhile Peter was following at a distance.

5454 Then they arrested him, led him away, and brought him to the high priest's house. But Peter was following at a distance.

5454 Then they seized Him and led Him away, bringing Him into the house of the high priest. Peter was following at a distance.

5555 After they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter was sitting among them.

5555 And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them.

5555 They lit a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, and Peter sat among them.

5555 When they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had taken their seats, Peter, too, sat down among them.

5555 And when they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and were seated together, Peter sat among them.

5656 And a servant-girl, seeing him as he sat in the firelight and looking intently at him, said, "This man was with Him too."

5656 But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him.

5656 When a servant saw him sitting in the firelight, and looked closely at him, she said, "This man was with Him too."

5656 A servant girl saw him sitting by the fire, stared at him, and said, "This man was with him, too."

5656 Then a servant girl, seeing him as he sat in the firelight and gazing [intently] at him, said, This man too was with Him.

5757 But he denied it, saying, "Woman, I do not know Him."

5757 And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.

5757 But he denied it: "Woman, I don't know Him!"

5757 But he denied it, "I don't know him, woman!" he responded.

5757 But he denied it and said, Woman, I do not know Him!

5858 A little later, another saw him and said, "You are one of them too!" But Peter said, "Man, I am not!"

5858 And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.

5858 After a little while, someone else saw him and said, "You're one of them too!" "Man, I am not!" Peter said.

5858 A little later, a man looked at him and said, "You are one of them, too." But Peter said, "Mister, I am not!"

5858 And a little later someone else saw him and said, You are one of them also. But Peter said, Man, I am not!

5959 After about an hour had passed, another man began to insist, saying, "Certainly this man also was with Him, for he is a Galilean too."

5959 And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilaean.

5959 About an hour later, another kept insisting, "This man was certainly with Him, since he's also a Galilean."

5959 About an hour later, another man emphatically asserted, "This man was certainly with him, because he is a Galilean!"

5959 And when about an hour more had elapsed, still another emphatically insisted, It is the truth that this man also was with Him, for he too is a Galilean!

6060 But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are talking about." Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.

6060 And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew.

6060 But Peter said, "Man, I don't know what you're talking about!" Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.

6060 But Peter said, "Mister, I don't know what you're talking about!" Just then, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.

6060 But Peter said, Man, I do not know what you are talking about. And instantly, while he was still speaking, the cock crowed.

6161 The Lord turned and looked at Peter And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him, "Before a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times."

6161 And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

6161 Then the Lord turned and looked at Peter. So Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, "Before the rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times."

6161 Then the Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. And Peter remembered the word from the Lord, and how he had told him, "Before a rooster crows today, you will deny me three times."

6161 And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter recalled the Lord's words, how He had told him, Before the cock crows today, you will deny Me thrice.

6262 And he went out and wept bitterly.

6262 And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.

6262 And he went outside and wept bitterly.

6262 So he went outside and cried bitterly.

6262 And he went out and wept bitterly [that is, with painfully moving grief].

Jesus Mocked And Beaten

6363 Now the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking Him and beating Him,

6363 And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him.

6363 The men who were holding Jesus started mocking and beating Him.

6363 Then the men who were holding Jesus in custody began to make fun of him while they beat him.

6363 Now the men who had Jesus in custody treated Him with contempt and scoffed at and ridiculed Him and beat Him;

6464 and they blindfolded Him and were asking Him, saying, "Prophesy, who is the one who hit You?"

6464 And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee?

6464 After blindfolding Him, they kept asking, "Prophesy! Who hit You?"

6464 They blindfolded him and asked him over and over again, "Prophesy! Who is the one who hit you?"

6464 They blindfolded Him also and asked Him, Prophesy! Who is it that struck You?

6565 And they were saying many other things against Him, blaspheming.

6565 And many other things blasphemously spake they against him.

6565 And they were saying many other blasphemous things against Him.

6565 And they kept insulting him in many other ways.

6565 And they said many other evil and slanderous and insulting words against Him, reviling Him.

Jesus Before The Sanhedrin

6666 When it was day, the Council of elders of the people assembled, both chief priests and scribes, and they led Him away to their council chamber, saying,

6666 And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,

6666 When daylight came, the elders of the people, both the chief priests and the scribes, convened and brought Him before their Sanhedrin.

6666 As soon as day came, the elders of the people, the high priests, and the scribes assembled and brought him before their Council.

6666 As soon as it was day, the assembly of the elders of the people gathered together, both chief priests and scribes; and they led Him into their council (the Sanhedrin), and they said,

6767 "If You are the Christ, tell us." But He said to them, "If I tell you, you will not believe;

6767 Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe:

6767 They said, "If You are the Messiah, tell us." But He said to them, "If I do tell you, you will not believe.

6767 They said, "If you are the Messiah, tell us."

6767 If You are the Christ (the Messiah), tell us. But He said to them, If I tell you, you will not believe (trust in, cleave to, and rely on what I say),

6868 and if I ask a question, you will not answer.

6868 And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go.

6868 And if I ask you, you will not answer.

6868 But he told them, "If I tell you, you won't believe me, and if I ask you a question, you won't answer me.

6868 And if I question you, you will not answer.

6969 "But from now on THE SON OF MAN WILL BE SEATED AT THE RIGHT HAND of the power OF GOD."

6969 Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.

6969 But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the Power of God."

6969 But from now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God."

6969 But hereafter (from this time on), the Son of Man shall be seated at the right hand of the power of God.

7070 And they all said, "Are You the Son of God, then?" And He said to them, "Yes, I am."

7070 Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am.

7070 They all asked, "Are You, then, the Son of God?" And He said to them, "You say that I am."

7070 Then they all asked, "Are you, then, the Son of God?" He answered them, "You said it I AM."

7070 And they all said, You are the Son of God, then? And He said to them, It is just as you say; I Am.

7171 Then they said, "What further need do we have of testimony? For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth."

7171 And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.

7171 "Why do we need any more testimony," they said, "since we've heard it ourselves from His mouth?"

7171 "Why do we need any more testimony?" they asked. "We have heard it ourselves from his own mouth!"

7171 And they said, What further evidence do we need? For we have heard [it] ourselves from His own mouth!
