Jesus replied to her, "I, who am speaking to you, am [the Messiah]."
“Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could this be the Messiah?”
and said to the woman, Now we believe, not merely on account of thy relation: for we ourselves have heard, and know that this is of a certainty the Saviour of the world, the Messiah.
Thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and know that thou art the Messiah, the Son of the living God.
yet there he is talking publickly without any opposition: are not the rulers convinc'd that he is the Messiah?
But we know where this man is from.
However, many from the crowd believed in Him and said, “When the Messiah comes, He won’t perform more signs than this man has done,
Others said, “This is the Messiah!” But some said, “Surely the Messiah doesn’t come from Galilee, does He?
hath not the scripture said, that the Messiah is to rise out of the family of David, and out of Bethlehem, the village where David was born?
Therefore I said to you that you will die [condemned] in your sins. For unless you believe that I am [the Messiah, who came from above. See verse 23], you will die [condemned] in your sins."
So, Jesus said, "When you have lifted up the Son of man [i.e., to crucify Him], then you will know that I am [the Messiah] and that I do not do anything on my own authority, but I speak [only] those things that the Father has taught me.
Your forefather Abraham was glad that he could look forward to my day [i.e., by faith he anticipated the coming of the Messiah. See Heb. 11:13ff]. And he saw it [by faith] and was glad."
His parents said these things because they were afraid of the Jews, since the Jews had already agreed that if anyone confessed Him as Messiah,
the Jews came about him, and said, how long will you keep us in suspense? if you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.
do you believe this? yes, Lord, said Martha, I believe that thou art the Messiah the son of God, who was to come into the world.
Upon which the people said to him, we have learnt from the law, that the Messiah is to live for ever: why do you say then, the son of man must be lift up? who is this son of man?
I am telling you this now, [even] before it happens, so that when it does happen, you will believe that I am [the Messiah].
and this is life eternal, to acknowledge thee to be the only true God, and Jesus to be the Messiah whom thou hast sent.
But these are written so that you may believe Jesus is the Messiah,

Indeed he will deliver [the] needy [who is] crying for help, and [the] afflicted [who] has no helper. He will take pity on [the] helpless and needy, and [the] lives of [the] needy he will save. From oppression and from violence he will redeem their lives, and their blood will be precious in his eyes. So may he live, and may gold from Sheba be given to him, and may prayers be offered for him continually. May blessings be invoked for him {all day long}. May his crop sway like the [trees of] Lebanon, and may [those] from [the] city blossom like the grass of the earth. May his name endure forever. May his name increase {as long as the sun shines}, and let them be blessed in him. Let all nations call him blessed. Blessed be Yahweh God, the God of Israel, [who] alone does wonderful things. And blessed be his glorious name forever, and may the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and Amen.
[The] stone the builders rejected has become [the] chief cornerstone. This is from Yahweh; it is wonderful in our eyes. This [is] the day Yahweh has worked; let us rejoice and be glad in him. O Yahweh, please save; O Yahweh, please grant success. Blessed [is] he who comes in the name of Yahweh. We bless you from the house of Yahweh. Yahweh is God, and he has given us light. Bind [the] festal sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar. You [are] my God, and I will give thanks to you. [You are] my God; I will exalt you. Give thanks to Yahweh for [he is] good, for his loyal love [is] forever.
