[it is being sent] to the church of God at Corinth. [You people are] set apart in [the fellowship of] Christ Jesus and called [by God] to be saints [i.e., His holy people], along with all [others] everywhere who call on our Lord Jesus Christ [i.e., in prayer]. He is their Lord and ours [as well].

I think then that because of the impending distress [that is, the pressure of the current trouble], it is good for a man to remain as he is.

Well, I want you to put yourselves under people like that, under everyone who sets his hand to the work.

For the unbelieving husband is set apart [i.e., as an acceptable mate, although not yet saved. See verse 16], through his wife [i.e., her Christian commitment is viewed as having a godly effect on the home], and the unbelieving wife is set apart through the brother [i.e., for the same reason]. Otherwise, your children would be [considered] unclean. [Note: "Unclean" suggests they would be viewed as pagans were it not for one parent being a Christian]. But, as it is, they are set apart as acceptable [i.e., to God, because of the influence of the one Christian parent].

And if they have not self command, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to be set on fire.

What, then, is my conclusion? Simply this-I will pray with my spirit, but with my mind as well; I will sing with my spirit, but with my mind as well.

Love never fails; if there are prophecies, they will be set aside; if now exist ecstatic speakings, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will soon be set aside;

If, then, ye have tribunals pertaining to this life, do ye set those to judge who are set at nought in the assembly?

So then, he who gets married to his virgin does well, and he who keeps her unmarried does better.

But the man who is strong in mind and purpose, who is not forced but has control over his desires, does well if he comes to the decision to keep her a virgin.

For, seeing that, in the wisdom of God, the world, through its wisdom, did not get to knew God, God was well-pleased - through the foolishness of the thing proclaimed, to save them that believe.

But, unto the rest, say, I - not the Lord, - if, any brother, hath, a wife that believeth not, and, she, is well pleased to dwell with him, let him not leave her;

And, a woman who hath a husband that believeth not, and, he, is well pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave her husband; -

Nevertheless, with the most of them, God, was not well-pleased, for they were strewed along in the desert.

But it is from Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became God-given wisdom for us—our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption,

Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

For you may very well be giving thanks, but the other person is not being built up.

a woman may as well have the tonsure, as not wear her veil: the one is as indecent as the other.

in like manner, if you express yourselves in words of obscure signification, you may as well talk to the wind, for how shall any comprehend you?

If Timothy visit you, take care he may be perfectly safe: for he labours in the cause of christianity, as well as I.

for they have quieted my mind as well as yours: therefore to such have a regard.
