And recognizing Peter's voice, because of [her] joy she did not open the gate, but ran in [and] announced [that] Peter was standing at the gate.
And [when] Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law lying down and suffering with a fever.
And behold, an angel of the Lord stood near [him], and a light shone in the prison cell. And striking Peter's side, he woke him up, saying, "Get up {quickly}!" And his chains fell off of [his] hands.
And the Lord turned around [and] looked intently at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he said to him, "Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times."
But Peter was standing by the door outside. So the other disciple [who was] known to the high priest went out and spoke to the doorkeeper and brought Peter in.
Then that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" So Simon Peter, [when he] heard that it was the Lord, tied around himself his outer garment (for he was naked) and threw himself into the sea.
But Peter sent [them] all outside, and, falling to [his] knees, he prayed. And turning toward the body, he said, "Tabitha, get up!" And she opened her eyes, and [when she] saw Peter, she sat up.
And [while] he was holding fast to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the portico called Solomon's, utterly astonished.
Now [as he] was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew, throwing a casting net into the sea (for they were fishermen).
Now these are the names of the twelve apostles: first Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, James the [son] of Zebedee, and John his brother,
And Peter answered him [and] said, "Lord, if {it is you}, command me to come to you on the water!"
So he said, "Come!" And getting out of the boat, Peter walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
But Peter answered [and] said to him, "Explain this parable to us."
And Simon Peter answered [and] said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God!"
And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overpower it!
And Peter took him aside [and] began to rebuke him, saying, {God forbid}, Lord! This will never happen to you!"
But he turned around [and] said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a cause for stumbling to me, because you are not intent on the things of God, but the things of people!"
And after six days Jesus took along Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up on a high mountain by themselves.
So Peter answered [and] said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good [that] we are here! If you want, I will make here three shelters, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah."
Now [when] they arrived in Capernaum, the ones who collected the double drachma [tax] came up to Peter and said, "Does your teacher not pay the double drachma [tax]?"
Then Peter came up to him [and] said, "Lord, how many times will my brother sin against me and I will forgive him? Up to seven times?"
Then Peter answered [and] said to him, "Behold, we have left everything and followed you. What then will there be for us?"
But Peter answered [and] said to him, "If they all fall away because of you, I will never fall away!"
Peter said to him, "Even if it is necessary for me to die with you, I will never deny you!" And all the disciples said the same [thing].
And taking along Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be distressed and troubled.
And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, "So, were you not able to stay awake with me one hour?
But Peter was following him from a distance, as far as the courtyard of the high priest. And he went inside [and] was sitting with the officers to see the outcome.
Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, and a female slave came up to him [and] said, "You also were with Jesus the Galilean."
And after a little [while] those who were standing there came up [and] said to Peter, "You really are [one] of them also, because even your accent {reveals who you are}."
And Peter remembered the statement Jesus had said, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times," and he went outside [and] wept bitterly.
And he appointed the twelve. And to Simon he gave the name Peter,
And he did not allow anyone to follow along with him except Peter and James and John, the brother of James.
And he asked them, "But who do you say [that] I am?" Peter answered [and] said to him, "You are the Christ!"
And he was speaking openly [about] the subject, and Peter took him aside [and] began to rebuke him.
But turning around and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, "Get behind me, Satan, because you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but the things of people!"
And after six days, Jesus took along Peter and James and John, and led them to a high mountain by themselves alone. And he was transfigured before them,
And Peter answered [and] said to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good [that] we are here! And let us make three shelters, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah."
Peter began to say to him, "Behold, we have left everything and followed you."
And Peter remembered [and] said to him, "Rabbi, look! The fig tree that you cursed has withered!"
And [as] he was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,
But Peter said to him, "Even if they all fall away, certainly I will not!"
And he took along Peter and James and John with him, and he began to be distressed and troubled.
And he came and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, "Simon, are you sleeping? Were you not able to stay awake one hour?
And Peter followed him from a distance, right inside, into the courtyard of the high priest. And he was sitting with the officers and warming himself by the fire.
And [while] Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the female slaves of the high priest came up
And [when] she saw Peter warming himself, she looked intently at him [and] said, "You also were with the Nazarene, Jesus."
But he denied [it] again. And after a little [while], again the bystanders began to say to Peter, "You really are [one] of them, because you also are a Galilean, and your accent {shows it}!"
And immediately a rooster crowed for the second time. And Peter remembered the statement, how Jesus had said to him, "Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times," and throwing himself down, he began to weep.
But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you."
And [when he] saw [it], Simon Peter fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me, Lord, because I am {a sinful man}!"
Simon (whom he also named Peter) and his brother Andrew, and James, and John, and Philip, and Bartholomew,
And Jesus said, "Who [is] the one who touched me?" And [when they] all denied [it], Peter said, "Master, the crowds are pressing you hard and crowding [you]!"
Now [when he] came to the house, he did not allow anyone to enter with him except Peter and John and James and the father and mother of the child.
And he said to them, "But who do you say [that] I am?" And Peter answered [and] said, "The Christ of God."
Now it happened that about eight days after these words, he took along Peter and John and James [and] went up on the mountain to pray.
Now Peter and those with him were {very sleepy}, but [when they] became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men who were standing with him.
And it happened that as they were going away from him, Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is good [for] us to be here. And let us make three shelters, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah," not knowing what he was saying.
And Peter said, "Lord, are you telling this parable for us, or also for everyone?"
And Peter said, "Behold, we have left {all that is ours} [and] followed you."
And he sent Peter and John, saying, "Go [and] prepare the Passover for us, so that we may eat [it].
And he said, "I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times [that you] know me!"
And they arrested him [and] led [him] away and brought [him] into the house of the high priest. But Peter was following at a distance.
And [when they] had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat down among them.
And after a short time another person saw him [and] said, "You also are [one] of them!" But Peter said, "Man, I am not!"
But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are talking about!" And immediately, [while] he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.
But Peter got up [and] ran to the tomb, and bending over to look, he saw only the [strips of] linen cloth, and he went away to his home wondering what had happened.
Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard John and followed him.
He brought him to Jesus. Looking at him, Jesus said, "You are Simon the son of John. You will be called Cephas" (which is interpreted "Peter").
(Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the town of Andrew and Peter.)
One of his disciples, Andrew the brother of Simon Peter, said to him,
Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.
Then he came to Simon Peter. He said to him, "Lord, are you going to wash my feet?"
Peter said to him, "You will never wash my feet {forever}!" Jesus replied to him, "Unless I wash you, you do not have a share with me."
Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, not my feet only, but also [my] hands and [my] head!"
So Simon Peter gestured for this one to inquire who it was about whom he was speaking.
Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus replied, "Where I am going you cannot follow me now, but you will follow later."
Peter said to him, "Lord, why am I not able to follow you now? I will lay down my life for you!"
Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his right ear. (Now the name of the slave was Malchus.)
So Jesus said to Peter, "Put the sword into [its] sheath! The cup that the Father has given me--shall I not drink it?"
So Simon Peter and another disciple followed Jesus. (Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and entered with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest.)
Then the female slave [who was] the doorkeeper said to Peter, "You are not also [one] of the disciples of this man, [are you]?" He said, "I am not!"
(Now the slaves and the officers were standing there, having made a charcoal fire because it was cold, and they were warming themselves. And Peter was also standing there with them and warming himself.)
Now Simon Peter was standing there and warming himself. So they said to him, "You are not also [one] of his disciples, [are you]?" He denied [it] and said, "I am not!"
One of the slaves of the high priest, who was related to the one whose ear Peter had cut off, said, "Did I not see you in the garden with him?"
So Peter denied [it] again, and immediately a rooster crowed.
So she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved and said to them, "They have taken away the Lord from the tomb and we do not know where they have put him!"
Then Peter and the other disciple went out and were going to the tomb.
And the two were running together, and the other disciple ran ahead, faster than Peter, and came to the tomb first.
Then Simon Peter also came following him, and he went into the tomb and saw the [strips of] linen cloth lying there,
Simon Peter and Thomas (who was called Didymus) and Nathanael from Cana in Galilee and the [sons] of Zebedee and two others of his disciples were together.
Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing!" They said to him, "We also are coming with you." They went out and got into the boat, and during that night they caught nothing.
So Simon Peter got into [the boat] and hauled the net to the land, full of large fish--one hundred fifty-three--and [although there] were so many, the net was not torn.
Now when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon [son] of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs!"
He said to him a third [time], "Simon [son] of John, do you love me?" Peter was distressed because he said to him a third [time], "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything! You know that I love you!" Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep!
Peter turned [and] saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following [them] (who also leaned back on his chest at the dinner and said, "Lord, who is the one betraying you?")
So [when he] saw this one, Peter said to Jesus, "Lord, but what about this one?"
And when they had entered, they went up to the upstairs room where they were staying--Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James [son] of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot and Judas [son] of James.
And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the brothers (and it was a crowd of persons of about one hundred twenty at the same [place]) [and] said,
But Peter, standing with the eleven, raised his voice and declared to them, "Judean men, and all those who live [in] Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and pay attention to my words!
Now [when they] heard [this], they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "What should we do, men [and] brothers?"
