And Laban said, Better that I give her to thee, than that I should give her to another man, - Abide with me!
Then said Jacob unto Laban: Come give me my wife, for fulfilled are my days, - that I may go in unto her.
So Laban gathered together all the men of the place and made a banquet,
And Laban gave her Zilpah, his handmaid, unto Leah his daughter. as handmaid.
And it came to pass in the morning, that lo! it was Leah, - and he said unto Laban, What is this thou hast done to me? Was it not, for Rachel, I served with thee? Wherefore then hast thou deceived me?
And Laban said, It must not be done so in our place, - to give the later-born before the firstborn.
And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his handmaid, - to be hers as a handmaid.
And it came to pass, when Rachel had borne Joseph, that Jacob said unto Laban, Let me go that I may take my journey, unto my place, and to my land.
And Laban said unto him, If, I pray thee, I have found favour in thine eyes, -- I have divined that Yahweh hath blessed me for thy sake.

then put he a journey of three days between himself and Jacob, - but, Jacob himself, continued tending the flocks of Laban that were left.

Now Rachel, had taken the household gods and put them in the basket-saddle of the camel, and taken her seat upon them. And Laban felt about throughout all the tent, and found them not.
Then responded Laban and said unto Jacob - the daughters, are my daughters, And the sons, are my sons, And the sheep are my sheep, And, all that, thou, beholdest, To me doth it belong! But to my daughters, what can I do to these this day, Or to their sons whom they have borne?
And Laban called it, Jegar-sahadutha, - but, Jacob, called it, Galeed.
Then said Laban: This heap, be witness betwixt me, and thee, to-day. For this cause, is the name thereof called Galeed;
And Laban said to Jacob - Behold this heap, and behold this pillar, which I have set betwixt me, and thee:
And he commanded them, saying, Thus, shall ye say to my lord to Esau, Thus, saith thy servant Jacob, With Laban, have I sojourned, and tarried until now:
These, are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter, - so she bare these to Jacob, - sixteen souls.
These, are the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban gave to Rachel his daughter, - so she bare these to Jacob, - all the souls, were seven.
