They zealously seek you, but for no good purpose; they desire to alienate you, that you may be zealous for them.

For of these are those who creep into houses, and take captive gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts,


For, uttering great swelling words of emptiness, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by licentiousness, those who barely escape from those who live in error;

But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to throw a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality.

But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman, Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. She teaches and seduces my servants to commit sexual immorality, and to eat things sacrificed to idols.




but I beat my body and bring it into submission, lest by any means, after I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected.




As for the holy ones who are in the land, they are the excellent ones in whom is all my delight.


Therefore we have been comforted. In our comfort we rejoiced the more exceedingly for the joy of Titus, because his spirit has been refreshed by you all. For if in anything I have boasted to him on your behalf, I was not disappointed. But as we spoke all things to you in truth, so our glorying also which I made before Titus was found to be truth. His affection is more abundantly toward you, while he remembers all of your obedience, how with fear and trembling you received him. read more.
I rejoice that in everything I am of good courage concerning you.

Even so, affectionately longing for you, we were well pleased to impart to you, not the Good News of God only, but also our own souls, because you had become very dear to us.


Then they believed his words. They sang his praise. They soon forgot his works. They did not wait for his counsel,


Where was the blessing you enjoyed? For I testify to you that, if possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me.



"Cry aloud, do not spare, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and declare to my people their disobedience, and to the house of Jacob their sins. Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways: as a nation that did righteousness, and did not forsake the ordinance of their God, they ask of me righteous judgments; they delight to draw near to God.

They come to you as the people come, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear your words, but do not do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their gain. Behold, you are to them as a very lovely song of one who has a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument; for they hear your words, but they do not do them.

Those on the rock are they who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; but these have no root, who believe for a while, then fall away in time of temptation.



How lovely are your dwellings, LORD of hosts. My soul longs, and even faints for the courts of the LORD. My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

In addition, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, since I have a treasure of my own of gold and silver, I give it to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,

LORD, I love the habitation of your house, the place where your glory dwells.


The LORD's precepts are right, rejoicing the heart. The LORD's commandment is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever. The LORD's ordinances are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yes, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the extract of the honeycomb.

My soul is consumed with longing for your ordinances at all times.


How sweet are your promises to my taste, more than honey to my mouth.

My soul has observed your testimonies. I love them exceedingly.






For the zeal of your house consumes me. The reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me.

My zeal wears me out, because my enemies ignore your words.

But it is always good to be zealous in a good cause, and not only when I am present with you.


As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants after you, God.


With my whole heart, I have sought you. Do not let me wander from your commandments.







Hear therefore, Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with you, and that you may increase mightily, as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised to you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.





If then you were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth.


"Because he has set his love on me, therefore I will deliver him. I will set him on high, because he has known my name.


They said one to another, "Weren't our hearts burning within us, while he spoke to us along the way, and while he opened the Scriptures to us?"
