You will give truth to Jacob, and show loving-kindness (unchanging love) to Abraham. For you have sworn this to our fathers from the days of old.

An angel of Jehovah came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said: I led you out of Egypt and brought you to the land about which I swore to your fathers that I would never break my covenant with you.

Even when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them or look at them with disgust. I will not reject or cancel my promise to them, because I am Jehovah their God. For their well being, I will remember the promise to their ancestors. I brought them out of Egypt to be their God while nations looked on. I am Jehovah!'

and prayed: Jehovah God of Israel, there is no god like you in heaven above or on earth below! You keep your covenant with your people and show them your love when they live in wholehearted obedience to you.

Jehovah your God is a merciful God. He will not forsake you. He will not destroy you, nor forget the covenant he made with your fathers.

You were chosen because Jehovah loved you and kept the oath he swore to your fathers. So he used his mighty hand to bring you out. He freed you from slavery under Pharaoh king of Egypt. Keep in mind that Jehovah your God is the only true God. He is the faithful God. He keeps his promise and is merciful to thousands of generations of those who love him and obey his commandments.

He has remembered his covenant forever! It is the word he commanded to a thousand generations. He made this covenant with Abraham and gave his oath to Isaac. He confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant. read more.
He said: I will give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance to you.

Moses called all the people of Israel, and said: Hear, O Israel, the regulations and laws I declare to you today. Learn them and obey them! Jehovah our God made a covenant with us at Horeb. Jehovah did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, all of us here alive today.

He is Jehovah our God: his judgments are in all the earth. He has remembered his covenant forever! It is the word he commanded to a thousand generations. He made this covenant with Abraham and gave his oath to Isaac. read more.

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah is upon me, because Jehovah has anointed me to announce good news to the lowly and meek. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners. To proclaim the favorable Year of Jehovah and the day of vengeance of our God. To comfort all who mourn, to present a garland, instead of ashes, to those who mourn in Zion, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and the mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. They will be called oaks of righteousness. They are the planting of Jehovah, that he may be glorified. read more.
They will rebuild the ancient ruins. They will raise up the former devastations. And they will repair the ruined cities, the desolations of many generations. Strangers will stand and shepherd your flocks. Foreigners will be your farmers and your vinedressers. You will be called the priests of Jehovah. You will be spoken of as ministers of our God. You will eat the wealth of nations, you will boast in their riches. Instead of your shame there will be a double portion. Instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land. Everlasting joy will be theirs. For I, Jehovah, love justice. I hate robbery in the burnt offering. Therefore I will faithfully give them their recompense and make an everlasting covenant with them. Then their offspring will be known among the nations, and their descendants in the midst of the peoples. All who see them will recognize them because they are the blessed offspring of Jehovah.

Jehovah the God of Israel says, 'Cursed is everyone who does not obey the terms of this covenant.' It is the covenant I made with their ancestors when I brought them out of Egypt. Egypt was like an iron smelter (furnace) to them. I told them to obey me and to do everything that I commanded. I told them that if they obeyed, they would be my people and I would be their God. Then I would keep the promise I made to their ancestors that I would give them the rich and fertile land which they now have.'' I answered: Amen (Yes) Jehovah.

It was the oath he spoke to Abraham our father.

You will live there as a foreigner. I will be with you and bless you. I will keep my promise to your father Abraham by giving this land to you and your descendants.

When God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this to offer encouragement so we may rely on the hope offered to us. We have taken refuge in that hope and it is impossible for God to lie. These two things can never be changed.

He said: I am taking an oath on my own name, declares Jehovah, that because you have done this and have not refused to give me your son, your only son,

Before Joseph died, he told his brothers: I will not live much longer. God will take care of you. He will lead you out of Egypt to the land he promised Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised. You are to undergo circumcision. It will be the sign of the covenant between us. For the generations to come every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised. This includes those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner, those who are not your offspring. Whether born in your household or bought with your money, they must be circumcised. My covenant in your flesh is to be a long lasting covenant. Any male not circumcised in the flesh will be cut off from his people. He has broken my covenant. God continued: Do not call your wife Sarai any longer. Her name will be Sarah. I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations. Kings of peoples will come from her. Abraham fell to his face. He laughed and said to himself: Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety? Abraham said to God: If only Ishmael might live under your blessing! God replied: Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son! You will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as a long lasting covenant for his descendants after him. Concerning Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him. I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of twelve rulers, and I will make him into a great nation. But my covenant I will establish with Isaac. You are Jehovah, the true God, who took Abram and made him yours, guiding him from Ur of the Chaldees, and gave him the name of Abraham; You saw that his heart was true to you, and made an agreement with him to give the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Jebusite and the Girgashite, even to give it to his seed, and you have done what you said; for righteousness is yours.

It was the oath he spoke to Abraham our father.

When God made a promise to Abraham, he could swear by no one greater then himself, so he swore by himself. He said: I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.

I swore to them in my anger that they should not enter into my rest.

Then I would keep the promise I made to their ancestors that I would give them the rich and fertile land which they now have.'' I answered: Amen (Yes) Jehovah.

He said: I am taking an oath on my own name, declares Jehovah, that because you have done this and have not refused to give me your son, your only son,

On my holiness I have taken an oath: I will not lie to David.

He made this covenant with Abraham and gave his oath to Isaac.

We who believe enter into the rest. As God said: I swore in my anger: 'They shall not enter into my rest.' Yet God's works were completed from the foundation of the world.

Jehovah swore an oath to David: This is a truth he will not take back: I will set one of your own descendants on your throne.

So I swore in my anger: 'They will not enter into my rest.'

And he swore by him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that are in it, and the earth, and the things that are in it, and the sea, and the things there, that there would be no more delay.

I have bound myself with an oath. A word has gone out from my righteous mouth that will not be recalled. Every knee will bow to me and every tongue will swear allegiance.

But if you do not do what I say, I will take an oath on myself,' declares Jehovah, 'this palace will become a pile of rubble.'
