There is no man that has power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither does he have power over the day of death, and weapons are of no use in that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it.

For it is certain that we die and are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither does God respect any person; yet he does devise means that his outcasts not be expelled from him.

For I know that thou dost conduct me unto death and to the house appointed for all living.

For that which befalls the sons of men befalls beasts; even one thing befalls them: as the one dies, so dies the other; and they all have one breath; so that a man has no more breath than a beast: for all is vanity.

that he should still live for ever and not see corruption. For he sees that all the wise men die, likewise the fool and the ignorant perish and leave their wealth to others. Their inward thought is that their houses are eternal and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names. The crown of the wise is their wisdom, but that which distinguishes fools is their folly.

For God gives to the man that is good in his sight wisdom and knowledge and joy, but to the sinner he gives travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to the one that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.

The increase of his house shall be taken captive; they shall be scattered in the day of his wrath.

Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken under the sun, which I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me.

Why dost thou boast of evil, O strong man? The mercy of God is day by day. Thy tongue devises wickedness like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. Thou dost love evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah. read more.
Thou dost love all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue. God shall likewise cast thee down for ever; he shall cut thee off and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, It is difficult that a rich man shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens. Aleph Do not be angry with the evildoers, neither be thou envious of the workers of iniquity.

The tents of robbers are at ease, and those that provoke God and those who carry gods in their hands live secure.

Fearful sounds are in his ears; in peace the destroyer shall come upon him.

that the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?

Though a sinner does evil one hundred times and his judgment is prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with those that fear God, who fear before his presence; but it shall never be well with the wicked, neither shall his days be prolonged, which are as a shadow, because he did not fear before the presence of God.

Resh I have seen the wicked in great power and spreading himself like a green bay tree. Yet he passed away, and, behold, he was not: I sought him, but he could not be found.

We say, therefore, now, that blessed are the proud and even that those that work wickedness are prospered; those that tempted God have escaped.

Why dost thou cause me to see iniquity and cause me to behold grievance and destruction and violence before me, in addition to those that raise up strife and contention? Therefore the law is weakened, and the judgment does not go forth true: for the wicked compasses about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceeds.

I have seen the foolish taking root, but at the same time I cursed his habitation. His sons are far from saving health, and they shall be crushed in the gate, and there shall be no one to deliver them. The hungry shall eat up his harvest, and even take it out from among the thorns, and the thirsty shall drink up their substance.

He wanders abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? He knows that the day of darkness is prepared for him.

for he covered his face with his fatness and made collops of fat on his flanks;

He shall not become rich, nor shall his strength be established, neither shall he extend his beauty upon the earth.

In the fullness of his sufficiency, he shall come into anguish; the hands of all the wicked shall come upon him.

Why do the wicked live and become old and even increase in riches? Their seed is with them, established in their sight, and their offspring before their eyes. Their houses are safe from fear; neither is the rod of God upon them. read more.
Their cows conceive, and do not abort; their cows calve and do not cast forth their young. They send forth their little ones like a flock of sheep, and their children dance. They jump at the sound of the timbrel and harp and rejoice at the sound of the organ. They spend their days in pleasure and in a moment go down to Sheol.

For he sees that all the wise men die, likewise the fool and the ignorant perish and leave their wealth to others. Their inward thought is that their houses are eternal and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names. For I became angry against the foolish when I saw the peace of the wicked. Because there is no restraint that would bring about their death, but their strength is firm. They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men. read more.
Therefore they are crowned with pride; they cover themselves with violence as a garment. Their eyes stand out with fatness; they easily obtain the desires of their heart. They are lawless and speak wickedly of doing violence; they speak loftily. They set their mouth against heaven, and their tongue walks through the earth. Therefore his people shall return here; and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them. And they say, How does God know? and is there knowledge in the most High? Behold, these ungodly men, without being troubled by the world obtain riches. Verily, in vain have I cleansed my heart and washed my hands in innocency and been plagued all day long and chastened every morning: If I should say, I will speak as they do; behold, I should deny the generation of thy sons. I shall meditate that I might understand this; it is very hard for me to see. When I come into the sanctuary of God, then I shall understand their end. Surely thou didst set them in slippery places; in desolation thou shalt cause them to fall. How they are brought into desolation, as in a moment! They have come to an end; they are utterly consumed with terrors. As the dream of one who awakes; so, O Lord, when thou shalt rise up, thou shalt despise their appearances. Truly my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my kidneys. But I was ignorant and did not understand; I was as a beast before thee.

A carnal man does not know, neither does a fool understand this: The wicked spring forth as the grass, and all the workers of iniquity blossom, so that they shall be destroyed for ever:

Righteous art thou, O LORD, even though I dispute with thee: even so, I will speak judgments with thee; Why does the way of the wicked prosper? All those that completely rebel against thee have peace. Thou hast planted them, and they have taken root: they grow, and they bring forth fruit; thou art near in their mouth and far from their kidneys.

Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil and canst not look on iniquity: why dost thou look upon those that deal treacherously and hold thy tongue when the wicked devour the man that is more righteous than he? And dost make men as the fishes of the sea, as reptiles that have no lord? He shall take up all of them with his hook; he shall catch them in his net and gather them in his drag: therefore, he shall rejoice and be glad. read more.
Therefore, he shall sacrifice unto his net and burn incense unto his drag because by them his portion is fat, and his food plenteous. Shall he therefore empty his net, or have pity to stop slaying Gentiles continually?
