"I had to pay a large sum for my citizenship," said the colonel. "But I am a citizen by birth," said Paul.
for we have no permanent city here on earth, but we are in search of the city that is to come.
He said, "From aliens." Jesus said to him, "Then their own people are exempt.
And they will not have to teach their townsmen and their brothers to know the Lord, For they will all know me, From the lowest to the highest.
You are built upon the apostles and prophets as your foundation, and Christ Jesus himself is the cornerstone.
But his countrymen hated him, and they sent a delegation after him to say, 'We do not want this man made king over us.'
But, as it is, their aspirations are for a better, a heavenly country! That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city to receive them.
Then the men who had been going to examine him immediately left him, and the colonel himself was alarmed to find that Paul was a Roman citizen and that he had had him bound.
