And this is what he has promised useternal life. These things I have written to you about those who try to deceive you. Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God;

We are confident, I say, and would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him.

Peter declared to him, "Even if all fall away because of you, I will never fall away." Jesus said to him, "Truly I say to you, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times." Peter said to him, "Even if I have to die with you, I will not deny you." And so said all the disciples.

But he said to him, "Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death." He said, "I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day before you deny three times that you know me."

Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith,

See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to human tradition, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.

Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, through which those who were so occupied were not benefited.
