In this, love is perfected with us so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment, for we are as He is in this world.
Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account, so that they can do this with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.
I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
In the fear of the Lord one has strong confidence

It is not that we are competent in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our competence is from God.

Then the men [of Israel] took some of their provisions, but did not seek the Lord's counsel. So Joshua established peace with them and made a treaty to let them live, and the leaders of the community swore an oath to them.
