But Peter kept protesting passionately, "Though I must die with you, I will not disown you!" And they all kept saying the same.
"If they all stumble and fall away from you," answered Peter, "I will never do so!" Jesus said to him, "In solemn truth I tell you that on this very night, before cockcrow, you will deny me three times!" But Peter said to him, "Even if I must die with you, I will never deny you." And so said all the disciples.
"Lord," Simon said to him, "I am ready to go with you, both to prison and to death."
"Why cannot I follow you now, Master?" said Peter. "I will lay down my life for you." Jesus answered him.

"But the tax-gatherer, standing far back, would not lift up so much as his eyes to heaven, but kept beating his breast and saying, "'O God be merciful to me, the sinner!' "I tell you that this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for every one who exalts himself shall be humbled; but he who humbles himself shall be exalted."

Very well; and do you suppose, you who judge those that practise such vices, and are doing the very same, that you will elude the judgment of God?
