Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hanged about his neck and he were cast into the sea.
Jesus told his disciples: Things that cause people to stumble do happen. However it is a terrible thing for someone to make them happen!
He fell to the earth and heard a voice saying: Saul, Saul! Why do you persecute me? Who are you Lord? He asked. The Lord said: I am Jesus whom you persecute.
Men will hate you because of me. He who endures to the end will be saved.
They will do all these things to you for my name's sake. It is because they do not know the one that sent me.

Jacob continued to live in the land of Canaan, where his father had lived. This is the story of Jacob and his descendants. Joseph was a seventeen-year-old young man. He took care of the flocks with the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, his father's wives. Joseph told his father about the bad things his brothers were doing. Joseph's brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them. They hated Joseph and could not speak to him in a friendly way. One time Joseph had a dream. He told his brothers about it and they hated him even more. He said: Please listen to the dream I had. We were all in the field tying up sheaves of wheat. My sheaf got up and stood up straight. Yours formed a circle around mine and bowed down to it. Do you think you are going to be a king and rule over us? his brothers asked. So they hated him even more because of his dreams and because of what he said about them. Joseph had another dream and told his brothers: I had another dream, in which I saw the sun, the moon, and eleven stars bowing down to me. He also told the dream to his father. His father scolded him. What kind of a dream is that? Do you think that your mother, your brothers, and I are going to come and bow down to you? Joseph's brothers were jealous of him. His father kept thinking about the whole matter.
The son dishonors the father. The daughter rises up against her mother and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. A man's enemies are the men of his own house.
People will hand over their brothers to be put to death. Parents will oppose children and children will oppose parents, causing them to be put to death.
Brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father his child; and children shall rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death.
They called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.
Did we command you not to teach in this name? Look, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and are willing to bring this man's blood upon us.
Saul ravaged the congregation. He entered every house and dragged off men and women and put them in prison.
Saul was still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord. He went to the high priest. He asked him for letters to the synagogues at Damascus, that if he found any there who belonged to The Way, men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
There arose false prophets among the people. There will be false teachers among you! They will privately bring in destructive heresies (contrary doctrines), denying even the Master who bought them. They bring swift destruction on themselves.
They will throw you out of the synagogues. Yes, the hour comes that whoever kills you will think that he offered service to God.
He said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing at the right hand of God. Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord. I say love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! You will then act as true children of your Father in heaven. He gives sunlight to both evil and good people. He sends rain for the just and the unjust.
If I have rejoiced at the ruin of those who hated me, or exulted when evil overtook them, I have not let my mouth sin by asking for their lives with a curse.

If you see your enemy's cow or donkey running loose, take it back to him. If your enemy's donkey falls under its load, help him get the donkey to its feet again. Do not just walk away.
Do not rejoice when your enemy falls. Do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles. Jehovah will see it and be displeased and turn his anger away from him.
My servant David, Saul said, I have sinned. Come back. I will not harm you again. You valued my life today. I have acted like a fool. I made a terrible mistake.
Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion walks about, seeking whom he may devour (consume).
Jehovah asked him: What have you been doing? Satan answered: I have been walking here and there and roaming around the earth. Did you notice my servant Job? Jehovah asked. There is no one on earth as faithful and good as he is. He respects me and is careful not to do anything evil. Satan replied: Would Job respect you if he got nothing out of it?
But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me; that through me the message might be fully proclaimed, and that all the people of the nations might hear. I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion (Satan the Devil) (great danger) (1 Peter 5:8) (Psalm 22:21) (1 Thessalonians 2:18). The Lord will deliver me from every evil work. He will save me to his heavenly kingdom. To him is the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Stand firm in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are accomplished in your brothers in the world.
The weapons we use in our fight are not of the flesh but God's powerful weapons, which we use to destroy strongholds. We destroy false arguments.
Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in his mighty strength. Put on the full armor (every implement) of God, that you may be able to stand against the cunning (inventive) (clever) methods of the devil. Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in heavenly places.read more.
For that reason, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore and gird your loins with truth. Put on the breastplate of righteousness. Shod your feet with the preparation of the good news of peace. Judge me, O God, and plead my case against an ungodly nation. Deliver me from deceitful and unjust people!

([[Psalm of David] when Saul sent men to watch and kill him:]) Rescue me from my enemies, O my God. Protect me from those who attack me. Deliver me from troublemakers. Save me from bloodthirsty people.
O Jehovah, I have come to you for protection; never let me be defeated! You are righteous, help me and rescue me. Listen to me and save me! You are my secure shelter and a strong fortress to protect me. You are my refuge and defense.read more.
My God, rescue me from wicked people, from the power of cruel and evil people.
He who lives under the shelter of the Most High will remain in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to Jehovah: You are my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust. He is the one who will rescue you from the bird hunter's trap (fowler's snare) and from deadly plagues.read more.

Deliver me, O Jehovah, from my enemies. I take refuge in you.
Rescue me and deliver me out of the hand of aliens. Their mouths speak deceit. Their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
Do not fear those who kill the body. They are not able to take away your [everlasting] life. Instead, fear him who is able to destroy both life and body in the ever-burning fires. (Greek: Gehenna: continuously burning trash fires in the valley of Hinnom.) Do two sparrows sell for a penny? Not one of them will fall on the ground without your Father knowing. Even the hairs of your head are all numbered.read more.
Do not fear! You are more valuable than many sparrows.
He raised up a horn of salvation (power of deliverance) for us in the house of his servant David
I prayed for you that your faith would not fail. Once you have turned again strengthen your brothers.
The crown of righteousness is laid up for me. The Lord, the righteous judge, will give it to me at that day; and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved his appearing (manifestation).
The last enemy to be destroyed will be death. (Revelation 20:14)
The appearance of our Savior Christ Jesus revealed this. Jesus abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the good news.
God will wipe away all tears from their eyes. There will be no more death. There will be no more sorrow nor crying. There will be no more pain! The former things have passed away.
