Fight the good fight of the faith! Lay hold on everlasting life! You were called and confessed the good confession in the sight of many witnesses. Even if he comes in the second watch or the third and he finds the same his servants are blessed. Know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming he would have watched. He would not have allowed his house to be broken into. You be ready! The Son of man will come at a time when you do not think he will.

You do not live in the dark. That day should not overtake you by surprise as a thief would. You are all the children (sons) of light, and the children of the day. We are not of the night, not of darkness. Therefore, let us not sleep like others do. But let us watch and be sober.

Let your gentleness (mildness) (moderation) be known to all men for the Lord is near.

You also be patient. Make your hearts firm, for the coming of the Lord is near. Do not complain (utter a deep sigh) against one another, that you not be judged. Behold, the judge is standing at the door.

The end of all things is near. Be of sound mind and judgment. Also be sober for the purpose of prayer.

However, our citizenship is in heaven. We also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

For the grace (divine influence) of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us, to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in this present age (world) (period of time). We also, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption and the release from our bodies by ransom. We are saved by this hope. But hope that is seen is not hope. For does a man hope for what he sees? If we hope for what we do not see, do we have patience to wait for it?

I do not want you to be ignorant brothers, concerning those who are asleep (in death). You do not need to sorrow like others who have no hope. If we believe that Jesus died and rose again, God will bring with him those who sleep in Jesus. We tell you this by God's Word, that we who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not precede those who are asleep.

The crown of righteousness is laid up for me. The Lord, the righteous judge, will give it to me at that day; and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved his appearing (manifestation).
