as indeed you know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father his children, that you should walk in a manner worthy of God, who has called you to his own kingdom and glory.
Let a widow be put on the list, if she is not under sixty years, having been the wife of one man, having a good reputation for good works; if she has borne children, if she has entertained strangers, if she has washed the saints feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently followed every good work.
For you sympathized with me in my bonds, and endured joyfully the seizure of your possessions, knowing that you have for yourselves a better and abiding substance in the heavens.
Remember those who are in bonds, as if you yourselves had been bound, and those who suffer affliction, since you yourselves are in the body.
Ought you not to have had mercy on your fellow-servant, even as I had mercy on you?
