Teaching us, that, having renounced ungodliness and all wordly desires, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present world,
As obedient children, not conforming yourselves to your former desires, in your ignorance; But as he who hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation: For it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
For the time past of your life sufficeth to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when ye walked in lasciviousness, evil desires, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries. Wherein they think it strange, that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot,
For whosoever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
And I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep thro' thy name them whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
Therefore as we have opportunity, let us do good unto all men; but especially to them who are of the houshold of faith.
