Beware of the scribes, who like to walk about in long robes, and who love salutations in the market-places, and first seats in the synagogues, and first places at suppers;

And when it was day, the elderhood of the people, both the chief priests and scribes, were gathered together, and led him into their council, saying,

And it came to pass on the morrow that their rulers and elders and scribes were gathered together at Jerusalem,

And they roused the people, and the elders, and the scribes. And coming upon him they seized him and brought him to the council.
