This is a faithful saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him.

Consider yourselves to be dead with reference to sin, but alive with reference to God through Christ Jesus.

God forbid. We died to sin! How could we any longer live in it?

He who has died is freed from sin.

For you died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

God gave them up to uncleanness because of the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves.

Do not be like your ancestors and your relatives who were unfaithful to Jehovah the God of their ancestors. He made them something that shocks people, as you have seen.

Behold, your house is left desolate.

Jehovah's Spirit left Saul, and a distressing spirit sent by Jehovah tormented him.

She shouted: Samson! The Philistines are coming! He woke up and thought: I will get loose and go free, as always. He did not know that Jehovah had left him.

So he asked Jehovah what to do. But Jehovah did not answer him. He did not answer by dreams or by the use of Urim and Thummim or by prophets.

Therefore I gave them over to their stubborn hearts. They walked in their own counsel.

You will ask for my help, but I will not listen. You will search, but you will not find me.

God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven. It is written in the book of the prophets: O you house of Israel, have you offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?

They shall come back here in the fourth generation. The iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.

For my name's sake I will be patient. For my glory's sake I will hold my anger back from you, and not destroy you.

They were disobedient while the ark was being built. Yet God waited patiently in the days of Noah. But few, that is, eight persons, were saved through water.

Have you noticed how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Since he has done this, I will not bring disaster on him during his lifetime. It will be during his son's lifetime that I will bring disaster on Ahab's family.

I will not do it in your lifetime, because of your father David, but I will take it from your son.

But Jehovah was kind to them and had pity on them, caring for them, because of his agreement with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He would not put them to destruction or send them away from his presence until now.

Sentence against an evil deed is not executed quickly. Therefore the hearts of the sons of men are fully committed to do evil.

So he told his gardener, I have been coming here looking for figs on this tree for three years. I have not found any. So cut it down! Why should it continue using the soil? But the gardener said: Just give it one more year, sir. I will dig around it, fertilize it and leave it alone.

If the tree bears figs next year it will be good. If it does not you can have it cut down.

For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

All his days he eats in darkness. He has much sorrow and anger with his sickness.

if you reject my laws and look at my rules with disgust, if you reject my promise by disobeying my commandments, then this is what I will do to you: I will terrorize you with disease and fever. You will suffer from eye problems and depression. You will plant your crops and get nothing because your enemies will eat them.

Jehovah will also bring you every kind of sickness and plague not written in this Book of the Law. They will continue until you are dead.

You will be affected by a painful stomach disease and suffer until you die.

Fools suffered because of their disobedience and because of their crimes. All food was disgusting to them, and they came near death's gates.

I also struck you with a grievous wound. I made you desolate because of your sins.

Peter said: Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the money from the land sale?

You obstinate men who are uncircumcised in heart and ears. You always resist the Holy Spirit as your fathers did.

Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in which (Greek: en hos) (in which) (Greek: hos, he ho) (whereby) (which) you were sealed to the day of release by ransom.

But whoever speaks evil and defames Holy Spirit will not be forgiven but is guilty of an eternal sin.

What about those who despise the Son of God? Those who treat as a cheap thing the blood of God's covenant that purified them from sin? Those who insult the Spirit of grace? Think how much worse the punishment they deserve will be!

But they rebelled and grieved (offended and hurt) his Holy Spirit. So he turned against them as their enemy. He fought against them.

Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men. But the blasphemy against God's Spirit will not be forgiven.

Do not quench the Spirit.

If any man see his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he will ask, and God will give him life for them that sin not leading to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I do not say that he should make request concerning this.

My people planted wheat. They gathered weeds! They worked hard and got nothing for it. Because of my fierce anger their crops have failed.

Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.

He comes to men and says: 'I sinned, and perverted what was right, but I did not get what I deserved.'

Treasures of wickedness (the morally wrong) profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death.

What will a man profit, if he gains the whole world, and gives up his life? What will a man give in exchange for his life?

For what does it profit a man if he gain the whole world, and lose or forfeit his own self?

Do not go after false gods and empty things. They cannot help you or save you. They are useless.

There is no reward for the evil man! The candle of the wicked will be put out.

All who make idols are nothing. The things they treasure are worthless. Those who would speak up for them are blind. They are shamefully ignorant.

Fools suffered because of their disobedience and because of their crimes.

All his days the wicked man suffers torment and the ruthless through all the years stored up for him.

Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you.

Samuel said to Saul: Why have you disturbed me? Why did you make me come back? Saul answered: I am in great trouble! The Philistines are at war with me. God has abandoned me. He does not answer me any more by prophets or by dreams. Please tell me what to do.

Your hearts will pound with fear at everything you see. Every morning you will wish for evening. Every evening you will wish for morning.

Good understanding gives favor. The way of transgressors is hard.

[There will be] tribulation and distress on every person who works evil, for the Jew first and for the Greek.

Wherever they went the hand of Jehovah was against them for evil. For Jehovah had sworn to them and as Jehovah had sworn they were greatly distressed.

Destruction and misery are in their ways. (Isaiah 59:7)

Therefore, through one-man sin entered into the world, and death through sin. So death passed to all men, for all have sinned.

You will eat your food by the sweat of your brow until you return to the ground. You came from the ground. For dust you are and to dust you will return.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift from God is everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

But you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. When you eat of it you will surely die.

You broke faith with me among the sons of Israel at the waters of Meribah-kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin. You did not treat me as holy among of the sons of Israel.

Saul died because of his unfaithfulness to Jehovah. He did not obey the word of Jehovah (YHWH). He asked a medium to request information from a dead person.

Righteousness leads to life and he that pursues evil participates in his own death.

The life of every person belongs to me. The life of the father as well as the life of the son is mine. The person who sins will die.

Righteousness leads to life and he that pursues evil participates in his own death.

The people came to Moses and said: We sinned when we criticized Jehovah and you. Pray to Jehovah so that he will take the snakes away from us. So Moses prayed for the people.

Do something, Jehovah, for the sake of your name, even though our iniquities testify against us. We have been unfaithful (like apostates) and have sinned against you.

I said, O my God, shame keeps me from lifting up my face (praying) to you (being in your presence), my God: for our sins have increased higher than our heads and our evil-doing has come up to heaven.

The children of Israel cried out to Jehovah: We sinned against you. We left our God and served the Baals.

The Israelites gathered at Mizpah. They drew some water, poured it out in front of Jehovah and fasted that day. They confessed: We have sinned against Jehovah. So Samuel judged Israel in Mizpah.

Let your ear now take note and let your eyes be open. Please give ear to the prayer of your servant. At this time, day and night I pray for the children of Israel, your servants. I put before you the sins of the children of Israel that we have done against you: truly, my father's people and I are sinners.

You are aware of our many rebellious acts. Our sins testify against us. Our rebellious acts are with us. We know our iniquities.

Why are we sitting still? Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the fortified (mother) cities. Let us perish there, because Jehovah our God has doomed us. He has given us poisoned water to drink, for we have sinned against Jehovah.

We have sinned. We have dealt perversely. We have acted wickedly and have rebelled, even turning aside from your precepts and from your ordinances.

Do not be afraid, my servant Jacob, declares Jehovah. I am with you. I will completely destroy all the nations where I scattered you, but I will not completely destroy you. I will correct you with justice. I will not let you go entirely unpunished.'

Jehovah saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become. Every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. Jehovah was grieved that he had made man on the earth. His heart was grieved with pain. So Jehovah said: I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth. All of them: men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air. I am sorry that I created them.

However if any nation will not obey I will completely uproot it and destroy it. I, Jehovah, have spoken.

It is not because you have been living right or because you are so honest that you enter to take possession of their land. It is because these people are so wicked that Jehovah your God is forcing them out of your way. It is also because Jehovah wants to confirm the promise he swore to your fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Arise, go to Nineveh the great city and proclaim against her that Jehovah has seen their terrible wickedness.

Every living thing that moved on the earth perished: birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind. Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died.

If you will not listen to me and obey all these commandments, if you reject my laws and look at my rules with disgust, if you reject my promise by disobeying my commandments, then this is what I will do to you: I will terrorize you with disease and fever. You will suffer from eye problems and depression. You will plant your crops and get nothing because your enemies will eat them. read more.
I will condemn you so that you will go down in defeat in front of your enemies. Those who hate you will be your rulers. You will run away even when no one is chasing you. If you still will not listen to me, I will discipline you seven times for your sins. I will crush your arrogance. You will have no rain, and your land will be as hard as cement. Your strength will be spent uselessly. Your land will not yield its produce and the trees of the land will not yield their fruit. If you act with hostility against me and are unwilling to obey me I will increase the plague on you seven times according to your sins. I will send wild animals among you. They will rob you of your children. They will destroy your cattle, and make you so few that your roads will be deserted. If this discipline does not help and you still resist, I will resist you. I will punish you seven times for your sins. I will bring war on you to get revenge for my promise you rejected. When you gather in your cities, I will send plagues on you and you will fall under the control of your enemy. I will destroy your food supply. Ten women will need only one oven to prepare your food. You will eat and go away hungry. If in spite of this you do not listen to me and still resist me, I will resist you with great fury. I will discipline you seven times for your sins. You will eat the bodies of your sons and daughters. I will destroy your worship sites. I will cut down your incense altars and pile your dead bodies on top of your dead idols. I will view you with disgust. I will make your cities deserted and ruin your sacred places. I will no longer accept the soothing aroma from your sacrifices. I will make your land so deserted that your enemies will be shocked as they settle in it. I will scatter you among the nations. War will follow you. Your country will be in ruins. Your cities will be deserted. Then the land will enjoy its time to honor Jehovah while it lies deserted. You will be in your enemies' land. Then the land will joyfully celebrate its time to honor Jehovah. All the days it lies deserted, it will celebrate the time to honor Jehovah it never celebrated while you lived there. I will fill those who are left in the land of their enemies with despair. The sound of a windblown leaf will make them run. They will run away and fall, but no one will be chasing them. They will stumble over each other. Yet no one will be after them. They will not be able to stand up to their enemies. They will be destroyed among the nations. The land of their enemies will devour them.

If God decided to do nothing at all, no one could criticize him. If he hid his face (refused to assist), we would be helpless. There would be nothing that nations could do to keep godless oppressors from ruling them.

I will hand the Egyptians over to the power of a cruel master, and a fierce king will rule over them. This is the declaration of Jehovah of Hosts, the Almighty.

The sound is echoing to the ends of the earth because Jehovah has brought charges against the nations. He will judge all humans. He will kill the wicked,' declares Jehovah. This is what Jehovah of Hosts says: 'Disaster is spreading from nation to nation. A great storm is brewing from the distant corners of the earth. On that day those killed by Jehovah will stretch from one end of the earth to the other. They will not be mourned, taken away, or buried. They will become like manure on the ground.' read more.
Mourn, you shepherds, and cry. Roll in the dust, you leaders of the flock. The time has come for you to be slaughtered. The time has come for you to be scattered, and you will break like fine pottery. There will be no place for the shepherds to flee, no escape for the leaders of the flock. The shepherds are crying and the leaders of the flock are mourning because Jehovah is stripping their pasture. The peaceful pastures are destroyed by Jehovah's burning anger. He has left his lair like a lion. Their land has been ruined because of the heat of the oppressor, because of the fury of his anger.

This was the guilt of your sister Sodom. She and her daughters had arrogance, abundant food and careless ease, but she did not help the poor and needy. They were arrogant and did disgusting things in front of me. So I did away with them when I saw this.

Prepare a slaughtering place! The sons of this king will die because of their ancestors' sins. None of them will ever rule the earth or cover it with cities.

Do not worship them or serve them. I, Jehovah your God, am a God demanding exclusive devotion. (I do not tolerate rivals.) I will not share your affection with any other god. I punish children for their parents' sins to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me.

I keep my promise for thousands of generations and forgive evil and sin. But I will not fail to punish children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generation for the sins of their fathers.

Jehovah is patient, forever loving; He forgives wrongdoing and disobedience. He never lets the guilty go unpunished. In fact he punishes children for their parents' sins to the third and fourth generation.

Your children will be shepherds in the desert for forty years. They will suffer for your unfaithfulness until the last of your bodies lies dead in the desert.

You say: 'God stores up their iniquity for their children.' Let God repay them so they may know.

You show loving kindness to thousands, but repay the iniquity of fathers into the bosom of their children after them. O great and mighty God. Jehovah of Hosts is his name.

Those who are left will waste away in the lands of their enemies because of their sins and the sins of their ancestors.

Who rejoice in doing evil? They delight in the perversity of the wicked.

how much less man, who is vile and corrupt, who drinks up evil like water!

Though evil is sweet in his mouth and he hides it under his tongue,

You prefer evil to good. You prefer lying to speaking the truth.

Woe to those who scatter sin with cords of falsehood and iniquity with a cart rope!

This is what Jehovah says about these people: They love to wander. They do not keep their feet where they belong. Therefore Jehovah is not happy with them. He will remember their crimes and punish their sins.

You hate good and love evil! You rip off their skin and their flesh from off their bones!

So God dispatches the power of deceit (error) to work in them so that they are allowed to believe what is false. Then everyone who did not believe the truth, but was delighted with wickedness, will be condemned.

Paul said to him: God will strike you, white washed wall! Do you sit judging me according to the Law, and against law command me to be struck?

Woe to you Chorazin! Woe to you Bethsaida! If the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which were done in you, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

And said: You child of the devil, full of all subtlety and mischief, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to pervert the right ways of Jehovah?

Suffer you unwilling children, says Jehovah. You pursue a purpose that is not mine. You make a covenant sacrifice without my Spirit. You add sin to sin.

Which of the prophets have your fathers not persecuted? They killed those who announced in advance the coming of the righteous one whom you have betrayed and murdered.

You serpents! You offspring of vipers! How will you escape from being destroyed in the ever-burning fires of the Valley of Hinnom? (Greek: Gehenna, the trash fires in the valley just outside of Jerusalem)

He saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming for baptism. You offspring of vipers, he said, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

So I, the Lord Jehovah, will gather every one of your lovers, those you liked and those you hated. They will stand around you, and I will rip off your clothes and let all of those lovers stare at your nakedness.

He said: It is written my house shall be a house of prayer. You have made it a den of robbers.

Those who are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, will receive wrath and indignation.

At that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps. I will punish the men that are satisfied with their wayward lifestyle. They say in their heart, 'Jehovah will not do good and he will not do evil.'

The unfaithful servant who knew what his master wanted and did not do it will be beaten.

What about those who despise the Son of God? Those who treat as a cheap thing the blood of God's covenant that purified them from sin? Those who insult the Spirit of grace? Think how much worse the punishment they deserve will be!

I will punish the world for its evil and the wicked for their iniquity. I will also end the arrogance of the proud. I will demean (disgrace) the arrogance of tyranny.

Behold! Jehovah is coming out of his dwelling to punish the people of the earth for their sins. The earth will disclose (reveal) the bloodshed upon her. She will conceal her slain no longer.

He will pay them back according to their deeds. He will pay back his opponents with wrath and punish his enemies. He will pay back the people who live on the coastlands.

But I will punish you according to the results of your deeds,' declares Jehovah. 'I will kindle a fire in its forest that will devour all its environs.'

Give praise to Jehovah, the God of your fathers, and do his will. Separate yourselves from the peoples of the land and from the strange women.

Aaron will place both hands on its head. He will confess over it all the sins, all the rebellious acts, and all the things the Israelites did wrong. He will transfer them to the goat's head. A man will be appointed to release the goat in the desert.

Admit that you have done wrong! You have rebelled against Jehovah your God. You have given yourself to foreign gods under every large tree. You have not obeyed me,' says Jehovah.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

The man who covers his sins will not be blessed; but whoever confesses and leaves them will have mercy.

However if they confess their sins and the sins of their ancestors and the treacherous things they did to oppose me,

you must confess your sin, pay in full for what you did wrong, add one-fifth to it, and give it to the person who was wronged.

He comes to men and says: 'I sinned, and perverted what was right, but I did not get what I deserved.'

Keep me safe from secret plots of corrupt evildoers.

For God will bring every work into judgment with every secret thing, whether it is good or whether it is evil.

Every one who does evil hates the light. He does not come to the light because his works would be reproved.

This is in the day when God will judge the secrets of men, according to my good news, by Jesus Christ.

Jehovah's Spirit came to me and told me to say: This is what Jehovah says: 'You are saying these things, nation of Israel. But I know what is going through your mind.

Who can notice (discern) (understand) every mistake? Forgive my hidden faults.

Then he said: Son of man, do you see what the elders of the house of Israel are committing in the dark, each man in the room of his carved images? For they say: 'Jehovah does not see us! Jehovah has forsaken the land!'

would God not find out, since he knows the secrets in our hearts?

For the things that are done by them in secret is a shame even to speak about.

Do not be afraid. Nothing will be hidden. Every secret will be made known.

Nothing is hidden that will not be revealed. Nothing is secret that will not be made known and come to light.

Everything covered up will be revealed. Everything hidden will be made known. That which you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light. That which you have spoken in the inner chambers will be proclaimed on the housetops.

You set our sins in front of you. You put our secret sins in the light of your presence.

In the first month the whole congregation of Israel came into the Desert of Zin, and they stayed at Kadesh. Miriam died and was buried there.

This then was the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah by their families: The border of Edom the wilderness of Zin southward was the farthest part of the south coast.

You broke faith with me among the sons of Israel at the waters of Meribah-kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin. You did not treat me as holy among of the sons of Israel.

They moved from Ezion Geber and set up camp at Kadesh in the Desert of Zin.

You both rebelled against my command in the Desert of Zin. You did not show the people how holy I am when they were complaining at the oasis. This was the oasis of Meribah at Kadesh in the Desert of Zin.

So they spied on the land from the wilderness of Zin as far as Rehob, at Lebo-hamath.

The southern border will extend from the wilderness of Zin along the border of Edom. It will begin on the east at the southern end of the Dead Sea.

Moses saw that the people were naked. Aaron had made them naked to their shame among their enemies.

All day long my disgrace is in front of me. Shame covers my face.

I said, O my God, shame keeps me from lifting up my face (praying) to you (being in your presence), my God: for our sins have increased higher than our heads and our evil-doing has come up to heaven.

Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

He (Adam) answered: I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.

I will bring on you everlasting shame and disgrace that will never be forgotten.'

All the rulers from the north and all the people from Sidon are there. They also went down with the dead. They are disgraced because they terrified people with their power. They were godless people. Now they lie with those who were killed in battle. They suffer disgrace with those who went down to the pit.

Your enemies will be clothed in shame. The tents of the wicked will be no more.

Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived fell into transgression.

For we also once were foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.

The beast was captured, and with him the false prophet that performed signs before him, with which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast, and those who worshiped his image. These both were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with sulfur.

You put away your former way (course) (behavior) (conversation) of life, the old self that was corrupt with the lusts of deceit.

Encourage yourselves each day, as long as it is called Today, that none of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

For sin, finding occasion, through the commandment deceived me, and through it killed me.

But evil men and impostors will become worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

Do you have faith? Have it for yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in that thing that he allows. He that doubts is damned if he eats, because he eats not by faith. Whatever is not by faith is sin!

He that knows to do good, and does not do it, to him it is sin.

The thought of foolishness is sin. The mocker is an abomination to men.

All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not leading to death.

Haughty eyes and a proud heart, and the arrogance and pride produced by the wicked are sin.

When you vow to Jehovah your God do not delay the payback. It would be sin, and Jehovah your God will surely require it of you.

The people curse and the nations abhor the man who says to the wicked, You are righteous.

They know the judgment of God, that those who commit such things are worthy of death! And yet, they not only do the same, but also approve of those who do them.

Justify the wicked or condemn the just. Both are abomination to Jehovah.

They who forsake the law praise the wicked. Those who obey the law oppose them.

You are doomed! You call evil good and you call good evil. You turn darkness into light and light into darkness. You make what is bitter, sweet, and what is sweet you make bitter.

You have made Jehovah weary with your words. You ask: 'How have we wearied him?' You say: 'Every one that does evil is good in Jehovah's sight.' You also say: 'He delights in them.' Then you ask: 'where is the God of justice?'

You have discouraged righteous people with your lies, even though I had not brought them any grief. You encouraged wicked people not to turn from their wicked ways to save their lives.

A great cloud of witnesses surround us. Therefore let us lay aside every weight, and the sin that easily entangles us. Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

Beloved, I request that you as aliens and strangers abstain from fleshly lust (desires), which causes conflict in you.

You put away your former way (course) (behavior) (conversation) of life, the old self that was corrupt with the lusts of deceit.

You were also circumcised in him with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the flesh, in the circumcision of Christ.

The man who covers his sins will not be blessed; but whoever confesses and leaves them will have mercy.

Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to Jehovah, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

if you put away the sin that is in your hand and allow no evil to dwell in your tent,

Jesus said: You make yourselves look righteous to other people. God knows your hearts. The things considered of great value by people are worth nothing in God's sight.

Everyone who does these things, everyone who acts unjustly is an abomination to Jehovah your God.

When her mourning was over, David sent for her and brought her to his home. She became his wife. Then she gave birth to a son. However, Jehovah considered David's actions evil.

For you are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness. No evil dwells with you!

Jehovah tests (examines) righteous and wicked people alike. He hates wicked people and the ones who love violence.

Jehovah hates these six things: Yes, seven are an abomination to him:

Let none of you devise evil in your hearts against his neighbor. Do not love a false oath (perjury): for all these are things that I hate, said Jehovah.

[] []

My little children, I write you these things that you may not sin. If any man sin, we have an Advocate (intercessor) (comforter) (helper) with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous!

Be angry and do not sin. Do not let the sun go down upon your anger (rage).

Let no sin rule in your mortal body, that you should obey the lustful desires. Also do not present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness. Present yourselves to God, as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness for God.

Do not lay your hands hastily on any man, neither be a partaker of other men's sins: keep yourself pure.

Later Jesus found him in the temple and told him: Now that you are healed do not sin anymore and avoid worse things happening to you.

Wake up to righteousness and do not sin. Some do not have knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

The third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice: If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

The first poured out his bowl on the earth. A painful and grievous sore appeared on the men who had the mark of the beast, and upon those who worshiped his image.

The beast was captured, and with him the false prophet that performed signs before him, with which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast, and those who worshiped his image. These both were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with sulfur.

The expression on their faces will be held against them. They boast about their sins! They are like those of the people of Sodom. They do not even bother to hide them. How horrible it will be for these people. They have brought disaster on themselves.

A wicked man hardens his face. The upright proceeds with care.

And he forces all persons, the great and the small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads.

I will set no wicked thing before my eyes. I hate the work of unfaithful people. I want no part of it.

He delivered righteous Lot, who was very distressed by the lustful life of the wicked.

I get understanding from your precepts. Therefore I hate every false way.

I hate those who are double-minded, but I love your law.

My mouth will speak truth! Wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

Respect for Jehovah means to hate evil. I hate: pride, and arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth.

I do not understand what I am doing. For what I want to do I do not do. What I hate, I do.

The man and his wife heard the sound (voice) of Jehovah God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day. They hid from Jehovah, among the trees of the garden.

When I saw among the spoils a quality Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them. I hid them in the earth in the middle of my tent.

Suffer you unwilling children, says Jehovah. You pursue a purpose that is not mine. You make a covenant sacrifice without my Spirit. You add sin to sin.

The children of Israel secretly did things that were not right according to Jehovah their God. They built high places for themselves in all their towns, from the watchtower to the walled towns.

The man who covers his sins will not be blessed; but whoever confesses and leaves them will have mercy.

You are in for trouble, if you try to hide your plans from Jehovah! You think what you do in the dark cannot be seen. So you ask: Who sees us, who knows us?

Then he said: Son of man, do you see what the elders of the house of Israel are committing in the dark, each man in the room of his carved images? For they say: 'Jehovah does not see us! Jehovah has forsaken the land!'

They know the judgment of God, that those who commit such things are worthy of death! And yet, they not only do the same, but also approve of those who do them.

If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin. Now they have no excuse for their sin!

As a dog returns to his vomit so a fool returns to his folly.

He that knows to do good, and does not do it, to him it is sin.

for when they knew God, they did not glorify him as God. They did not thank him and were vain in their reasoning, for their foolish hearts were darkened.

Jesus replied: If you were blind you would have no sin. But you say we see so your sin remains.

If we continue to (practice) (deliberately persist in) sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins.

The unfaithful servant who knew what his master wanted and did not do it will be beaten. He who did not know and did things unacceptable will receive a lesser punishment. To whom much is given, much will be required and to whom they commit much they will demand even more.

If you are a Jew in name and are resting on the law and taking glory in God, you know his will. You approve the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law. And you have confidence that you are a leader of the blind, a light to those in darkness. read more.
You are an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having the form of knowledge and of truth in the law. You then who teach another, do you teach yourself? You who preach not to steal, do you steal? You who say man should not commit adultery do you commit adultery? You who abhors idols do you rob temples? You who boast in the law do you by transgression of the law dishonor God?

For it were better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. It happened to them according to the true proverb: The dog returns to his own vomit, and the sow that had washed to wallowing in the mire.

Who can notice (discern) (understand) every mistake? Forgive my hidden faults.

The children of Israel secretly did things that were not right according to Jehovah their God. They built high places for themselves in all their towns, from the watchtower to the walled towns.

In the dark they dig through houses. By day they shut themselves up. They do not know the light.

For the things that are done by them in secret is a shame even to speak about.

You set our sins in front of you. You put our secret sins in the light of your presence.

However I see a different law at work in my body. This law fights against the law that my mind approves of. It makes me a prisoner to the law of sin that is at work in my body.

His own iniquities will catch the wicked. He will be held with the cords of his sins.

Jesus answered: Truly I tell you every one who commits sin is a slave of sin.

For I perceive that you are full of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient servants you are his (voluntary) servants because you obey him? This could be obedience to sin with death in view or obedience to righteousness with holiness in view?

They should come to their senses out of the snare of the Devil. He has taken them captive and they do his will.

They promise them freedom, while they are bondservants of corruption. A man is brought into bondage by one and enslaved by another.

For God will bring every work into judgment with every secret thing, whether it is good or whether it is evil.

If you do not keep your promise, I warn you that you will be sinning against Jehovah. Do not doubt this, you will be punished for your sin.

Do not judge anything before the time. Wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and make apparent the counsels of the hearts. Then each man's praise will come from God.

The heavens will expose his guilt. The earth will rise up against him!

When hatred is covered by deceit, wickedness is revealed to the entire congregation.

Everything covered up will be revealed. Everything hidden will be made known.

God displayed Christ publicly as propitiation (atonement) by his blood through faith. It demonstrated his righteousness. It was through the forbearance of God that he passed by the sins that had taken place before.

Almost all things are by the Law purified with blood. There is no forgiveness unless blood is poured out.

Then Peter said: Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

This is (represents) (means) (exemplifies) my blood of the covenant, poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.

John traveled in the region near the Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.

Where there is forgiveness for these, there is no more offering for sin.

Do not worship them or serve them. I, Jehovah your God, am a God demanding exclusive devotion. (I do not tolerate rivals.) I will not share your affection with any other god. I punish children for their parents' sins to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me.

Your children will be shepherds in the desert for forty years. They will suffer for your unfaithfulness until the last of your bodies lies dead in the desert.

Jehovah loves justice, and he will not abandon his godly ones. They will be kept safe forever, but the descendants of the wicked will be destroyed.

You ruined your country and killed your own people. For that reason, you will not be buried like other kings. None of your evil family will survive.

The house of the wicked will be overthrown. But the tabernacle of the upright will flourish.

Our fathers were sinners and are dead. The weight of their evil deeds is on us.

I know you have many transgressions and your sins are great. You afflict the righteous. You take bribes. You refuse to help the needy at the gate.

Jehovah's Spirit came to me and told me to say: This is what Jehovah says: 'You are saying these things, nation of Israel. But I know what is going through your mind.

I see everything that they do. They cannot hide anything from me. Their wickedness cannot be hidden; I can see it.

If I sinned, you would be watching me and would not let my offense go unpunished.

Surely then you will count my steps but not keep track of my sin.

If you wash with detergent and use a lot of soap, I would still see the stains from your wickedness, says the Lord Jehovah.

It never enters their hearts that I will remember all this evil. But their sins surround them, and I cannot avoid seeing them.

Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men. But the blasphemy against God's Spirit will not be forgiven. Whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him. But whoever speaks against Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this age, nor in that which is to come.

I tell you sins will be forgiven of the sons of men, and their evil talk will be forgiven. But whoever speaks evil and defames Holy Spirit will not be forgiven but is guilty of an eternal sin.

He who speaks against the Son of man will be forgiven. However he who blasphemes against Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

Those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good Word of God, and the powers of the age to come, if they shall fall away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance. This is because they personally impale the Son of God again, and expose him to public shame. read more.
The earth that drinks in the rain that comes upon it, and brings forth vegetation for those by whom it was cultivated, receives blessing from God. That which bears thorns and briars is rejected, and is near to being cursed. It ends up being burned.

If we continue to (practice) (deliberately persist in) sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins. But there remains a certain fearful expectation of judgment and a fiery indignation, which will devour God's enemies. He that despised Moses' Law died without mercy under two or three witnesses. read more.
What about those who despise the Son of God? Those who treat as a cheap thing the blood of God's covenant that purified them from sin? Those who insult the Spirit of grace? Think how much worse the punishment they deserve will be!

If any man see his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he will ask, and God will give him life for them that sin not leading to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I do not say that he should make request concerning this. All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not leading to death.

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

For, uttering arrogant words of vanity, they entice in the desires (lusts) of the flesh, by sensuality (lasciviousness), those who are just escaping from the ones who live in error.

When I saw among the spoils a quality Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them. I hid them in the earth in the middle of my tent.

There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end thereof is the way of death.

Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.

Each man is tempted when he is drawn away by his evil desire (lust). He is enticed (allured).

It was as if he copied the evil ways of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat. He took as his wife Jezebel, daughter of Ethbaal, king of Zidon, and became a servant and worshipper of Baal.

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of the scornful mockers.

They bend their tongue like their bow. Lies and not truth prevail in the land. They move from evil to evil. They do not know me, says Jehovah.

They sin more and more. They make idols from silver for themselves. These idols are skillfully made. All of them are the work of craftsmen. People say this about the Israelites: They offer sacrifices and kiss calf-shaped idols.

Suffer you unwilling children, says Jehovah. You pursue a purpose that is not mine. You make a covenant sacrifice without my Spirit. You add sin to sin.

But evil men and impostors will become worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

Woe to those who scatter sin with cords of falsehood and iniquity with a cart rope!

Be sure there is no one here today who hears these solemn demands and yet convinces himself that all will be well with him. He would go stubbornly on his own way. That would destroy all of you, good and evil alike.

Tell them: 'It is because your ancestors abandoned me,' says Jehovah. They followed other gods, served them, worshiped them, and abandoned me. They did not obey my law. You have done worse than your ancestors. All of you are following your own stubborn, evil ways that keep you from listening (obeying) to me.

My little children, I write you these things that you may not sin. If any man sin, we have an Advocate (intercessor) (comforter) (helper) with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous!

Wash yourselves! Become clean! Get your evil deeds out of my sight. Stop doing evil.

Later Jesus found him in the temple and told him: Now that you are healed do not sin anymore and avoid worse things happening to you.

[]

Let no sin rule in your mortal body, that you should obey the lustful desires.

Wake up to righteousness and do not sin. Some do not have knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

To the man who is good, God gives wisdom and knowledge and joy. But to the sinner he gives the work of getting goods together and storing up wealth, to give to him who is good before God. This also is vanity and grasping for the wind.

They suffer wrong as their reward for wrongdoing. They are men that count it pleasure to revel in the daytime. They are spots and blemishes, reveling in their deceptions while they feast with you.

If the word spoken through angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward (penalty).

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift from God is everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Let him not deceive himself by trusting what is worthless. He will get nothing in return.

Here is the fate God accords the wicked. This is the heritage a ruthless man receives from the Almighty:

I admit my transgressions. My sin is always in front of me.

He said: I have done wrong in giving a righteous man to you.

After David had everyone counted, he felt guilty and told Jehovah: What I did was stupid and terribly wrong. Jehovah, please forgive me.

David brought the bones of Saul and Jonathan. His men also gathered the bones of those who had been executed.

Have I sinned? What have I done to you, O watcher of all humanity? Why have you made me your target? Am I a burden to you?

I said: O Jehovah, be gracious to me! Heal me for I have sinned against you.

But your wrongs have separated you from your God. Your sins have made him hide his face so that he does not even hear you.

Go to that land flowing with milk and honey. I will not be with you, because you are impossible to deal with. I would probably destroy you on the way.

Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant I commanded them to keep. They have taken some of the devoted things and put them in their own possessions. Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies. They ran from their enemies, because they were accursed. I will not be with you any more until you destroy the devoted things you have among you.

If I had thought about doing anything sinful, Jehovah would not have listened to me.

No one calls on your name or tries to hold on to you. You have hidden your face from us. You allowed us be ruined by our sins.

They will go with their flocks and with their herds to seek Jehovah. But they will not find him. He has withdrawn from them.

From the bottom of your feet to the top of your head there is no healthy spot left on your body. You have only bruises, sores, and fresh wounds. They have not been cleansed, bandaged, or soothed with oil.

This is what Jehovah says: Your wound is incurable. Your injury is beyond healing.

Samaria's wound is incurable! It came as far as Judah. It even reached to the gate of my people, Jerusalem.

Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has discord? Who has complaints? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes?

He will get wounds and be dishonored. His shame will not be wiped away.

He who did not know and did things unacceptable will receive a lesser punishment. To whom much is given, much will be required and to whom they commit much they will demand even more.

I was a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and a violent aggressor. I was shown mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.

to tell the people of Israel: If a person sins unintentionally and does not keep Jehovah's commandments he would have to observe the following rules:

If any of you sin unintentionally by breaking any of Jehovah's commandments, you are guilty and must pay the penalty.

Brothers, I know you acted in ignorance just as your rulers did.

Ahab said to Elijah: Have you come face to face with me, O my enemy? Elijah said: I have come to you because you have given yourself up to do evil in the eyes of Jehovah.

They caused their sons and their daughters to go through the fire to be sacrificed. They made use of secret arts and unnatural powers, and gave themselves up to doing evil in the eyes of Jehovah, till they provoked him to anger.

This is what Jehovah says: Where are your mother's divorce papers? Did I give her any to get rid of her? To which of my creditors did I sell you? You were sold because of your sins. I got rid of your mother because of your rebellion.

For this is what Jehovah says: You were sold for nothing, and without money you will be redeemed.

For we know that the law is spiritual. But I am fleshly and sold under sin.

But he is compassionate. He forgave their sin. He did not destroy them. He restrained his anger many times. He did not display all of his fury.

You were dead through your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh. He made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses.

David said to Nathan: I have sinned against Jehovah. Nathan replied: Jehovah has taken away your sin. You will not die.

You removed your people's guilt. You pardoned all their sins.

When Jesus saw their faith, he told the man: Friend your sins are forgiven.

That is why arrogance is their necklace and violence covers them like clothing.

Be free, and yet do not use your freedom for a covering for evil, but as servants of God.

Save some, snatch them out of the fire. Have mercy on some with alarm. Hate even the garment defiled (polluted) by the flesh.

He wore cursing as though it were clothing; so cursing entered his body like water and his bones like oil.

Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the angel.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have left undone the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy and faith. You should do both and leave nothing undone.

The unfaithful servant who knew what his master wanted and did not do it will be beaten.

He that knows to do good, and does not do it, to him it is sin.

The King will answer: 'To the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of my brothers, you did not do it to me.'

Woe to you Pharisees! You tithe mint and rue and every herb, and pass over justice and the love of God. You should have done these but you leave them undone.

You have never heard about them. You have never known about them. Your ears have never been open to hear them before. I know that you have acted very treacherously and that you have been called a rebel since you were born.

([[Psalm of David] when the prophet Nathan came to him after David's adultery with Bathsheba:]) Have mercy on me, O God, in keeping with your loving-kindness. According to your unlimited compassion, wipe out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my perversity (iniquity) (guilt), and cleanse me from my sin. I admit my transgressions. My sin is always in front of me. read more.
I have sinned against you, especially you. I have done what you consider evil in your sight. So you hand down justice when you speak, and you are blameless when you judge. Indeed, I was born in perversity (mischief) (evil). I was a sinner when my mother conceived me.

([Psalm of David]) Do you indeed speak righteousness, you silent ones (O you God-like ones)? Do you judge uprightly, you sons of men? No, in your heart you plot unrighteousness. You measure out the violence of your hands on the earth. The wicked go astray from the womb. They are wayward as soon as they are born. They speak lies.

You were once dead because of your trespasses and sins. You once walked according to the course of this world, according to the ruler of the power (authority and jurisdiction) of the air, the spirit that is now active in the sons of disobedience. We all once lived in the lust of our flesh, indulging the desires (lusts) of the flesh and of the mind. We were by nature children of anger and violent passion, like everyone else.

Evil thoughts come from the heart! Thoughts about murder, adultery, fornication, theft, lying, and slander come from the heart!

Then evil desires, when conceived, give birth to sin: and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth death.

What causes wars and fighting among you? Is the cause of fighting your sensual lusts for pleasure that battle within you?

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

No one else devoted himself so completely to doing wrong in Jehovah's sight as Ahab all at the urging of his wife Jezebel.

He who sins is of the devil. For the devil sinned from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was made known (manifested), that he might destroy the works of the devil.

He who despises his neighbor sins. He who has mercy on the poor is happy.

He made the one who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf. That way we might become the righteousness of God in him.

We do not have a high priest who is not able to sympathize with our infirmities (weaknesses). He was tested in all things like ourselves. Yet he was without sin!

You know that he appeared to take away sins. There is no sin in him!

Such a high priest as this was suitable for us. He is holy, harmless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and higher than the heavens.

Therefore, through one-man sin entered into the world, and death through sin. So death passed to all men, for all have sinned. Until the law sin was in the world. Sin is not imputed (put on account) when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even for those who had not sinned after the likeness of Adam's transgression. Adam is in some ways like Christ who came later. read more.
But the two are not the same, because God's gift (spiritual endowment) is not like Adam's sin. It is true that many people died because of the sin of that one man. But God's grace is much greater, and so is his gift to so many people through the loving-kindness of the one man, Jesus Christ. And there is a difference between God's gift (spiritual endowment) and the sin of one man. After the one sin, came the guilty judgment; but after so many sins, comes the undeserved gift of righteousness. It was by the transgression of the one that death ruled as king through that one. Even more so shall those who receive the abundance of grace, and of the gift of righteousness, rule as kings in life by the one, Jesus Christ. The result of one trespass was condemnation for all men. The result of righteousness was justification (acquittal), which brings life for all men. Through the disobedience of one man many have been made sinners. Yet through the obedience of one man many will be made righteous. The law came that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased God's loving kindness increased even more. And what for? Just as sin reigned in death, even so might grace reign through righteousness to everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Now the serpent was craftier than any of the wild animals Jehovah God had made. He said to the woman: Did God really say, you must not eat from any tree in the garden? You must not touch it, or you will die.' read more.
You will not die, the serpent said to the woman. God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened. Then you will be like God, knowing good and evil. When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened. They realized they were naked. They sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. The man and his wife heard the sound (voice) of Jehovah God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day. They hid from Jehovah, among the trees of the garden. But Jehovah God called to the man: Where are you? He (Adam) answered: I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid. And he said: Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from? Adam said: The woman you put here with me gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it. Then Jehovah God said to the Eve: What is this you have done? The woman answered: The serpent deceived me, and I ate. So Jehovah God said to the serpent: Because you have done this you are cursed above all the livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity (hostility) (hatred) between you and the woman, and between your offspring (seed) and hers. He will bruise (overwhelm) (crush) you in the head, and you will bruise (overwhelm) (crush) him in the heel. (Romans 16:20) He said to the woman: I will greatly increase your pains in childbirth; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you. He said to Adam: Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,' cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you. You will eat the plants of the field. You will eat your food by the sweat of your brow until you return to the ground. You came from the ground. For dust you are and to dust you will return.

Everyone will be raised to life in the right order: Christ the first fruits and afterward those who belong to Christ at the time of his coming. In the end Christ will deliver the kingdom to God the Father. Christ will destroy every ruler and all authority and all power. (Revelation 20:14) According to the Scriptures: God has placed all things under his control (subjection). (Ephesians 1:22) But when he said all things are placed under him, it is with the exception of [God]. For [God] is the one who placed all things under him (Christ). (1 Peter 3:22) (John 3:35) When all things shall be subdued under the Son, then the Son will also be subjected to God who put all things under him, that God may be all in all (ruler over everything).

The people of Israel plant the wind, but they harvest a storm. A field of grain that does not ripen will never produce any grain. Even if it did produce grain, foreigners would eat it all.

My people planted wheat. They gathered weeds! They worked hard and got nothing for it. Because of my fierce anger their crops have failed.

I am the All-Powerful Jehovah, the God of Israel, and I make this promise: Soon Babylon will be leveled and packed down like a threshing place at harvest time.

Also for you, O Judah, a harvest is appointed.

How shall we escape, if we neglect such a great salvation? It was first presented by the Lord and was confirmed to us by those who heard him.

Why does this man speak this way? He blasphemes for only God is the one who can forgive sins.

I keep my promise for thousands of generations and forgive evil and sin. But I will not fail to punish children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generation for the sins of their fathers.

Who is a God like you who pardons iniquity and passes over the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? You do not keep your anger forever, because you delight in loving-kindness (unchanging love).

I Jehovah, the God of Israel, will turn against you and destroy all Judah.

The way of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah. He loves the one who follows after righteousness.

I kept sending you my servants the prophets, who told you not to do this terrible thing that I hate.

Indeed, I was born in perversity (mischief) (evil). I was a sinner when my mother conceived me.

What is man, that he could be pure? Or he who is born of woman, that he could be righteous?

How then can a man be righteous before God? How can one born of woman be pure?

When Adam had lived one hundred and thirty years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth.

You are that man! Nathan said to David. And this is what the Lord Jehovah the God of Israel says: 'I made you king of Israel and rescued you from Saul.

Then he said in answer: I have not made trouble for Israel. You and your family have. You have disobeyed Jehovah's commands and have gone after the Baals.

Why have you disobeyed my commands? Why did you do this evil thing? You had Uriah killed in battle! You let the Ammonites kill him. Then you took his wife!

Then evil desires, when conceived, give birth to sin: and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth death.

The hand of Jehovah is not too weak to save or his ear too deaf to hear. But your wrongs have separated you from your God. Your sins have made him hide his face so that he does not even hear you.

These people are stubborn and rebellious. They have turned aside and departed from me. They do not say in their hearts, to themselves: 'We should respect Jehovah our God. He sends rain at the right time, the autumn rain and the spring rain. He makes sure that we have harvest seasons.' Your wickedness has turned these things away. Your sins have kept good things away from you.

You his son, O Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you know all this.

But his lord answered: 'You wicked and lazy servant. You knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I did not scatter.

Ezra the priest got to his feet and said to them: You have done wrong and taken strange women for your wives, thus increasing the sin of Israel. Give praise to Jehovah, the God of your fathers, and do his will. Separate yourselves from the peoples of the land and from the strange women.

He who speaks against the Son of man will be forgiven. However he who blasphemes against Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

But whoever speaks evil and defames Holy Spirit will not be forgiven but is guilty of an eternal sin.

If any man see his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he will ask, and God will give him life for them that sin not leading to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I do not say that he should make request concerning this. All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not leading to death.

Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men. But the blasphemy against God's Spirit will not be forgiven.

Tremble, stand in awe and do not sin! Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and keep silent.

Sin is atoned by loving kindness and truth. Respect for Jehovah keeps one away from evil.

Moses responded: Do not be afraid. God has only come to test you and to inspire you to obey him, so that you will not sin.

Respect for Jehovah means to hate evil. I hate: pride, and arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth.

Hate evil, and love good! Establish justice in the gate. It may be that Jehovah, the God of Hosts, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

You who love Jehovah hate evil! He preserves his anointed ones. He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.

He bore our sins in his body upon the stake, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed because of his wounds (stripes).

Consider yourselves to be dead with reference to sin, but alive with reference to God through Christ Jesus.

God forbid. We died to sin! How could we any longer live in it?

Come now, let us reason together (make things right) (correct matters) between us! Says Jehovah. Though your sins are like scarlet, they will become as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, they will become as white as wool.

O Jehovah, for the sake of your name pardon my guilt, because it is great.

Is not your wickedness great? There is no end to your iniquities.

Did that which is good become death to me? God forbid! It was sin, producing death in me through what is good. This way sin might be shown to be sin. Through the commandment sin could be recognized.

When you did these things, I remained silent. That made you think I was like you. I will argue my point with you and lay it all out for you to see.

He says in his heart (to himself): God has forgotten. He has hidden his face. He will never see it!

They say: Jehovah does not see it. The God of Jacob does not even pay attention to it.

You who judge have no excuse. For when you judge another you condemn yourself. After all you do the same things.

If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin. Now they have no excuse for their sin!

His invisible attributes are clearly seen since the creation of the world. The things made prove His eternal power and divine nature. Mankind has no excuse,

For sin, finding occasion, through the commandment deceived me, and through it killed me.

When we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were through the law, worked in our members to bring forth fruit to death.

But sin, finding occasion, worked out in me through the commandment all manner of coveting. Apart from the law sin is dead.

Jehovah hates these six things: Yes, seven are an abomination to him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that run quickly to badness, read more.
A false witness that speaks lies, and he that sows discord among brothers.

Everyone who does these things, everyone who acts unjustly is an abomination to Jehovah your God.

Let no one become immoral or unspiritual like Esau. He sold his birthright for a single meal! Afterward, you know, he wanted to receive (inherit) his father's blessing. He was turned back, because he could not find any way to change what he had done. He was in tears when he looked for it.

Esau said: All right! I am about to die. What good are rights as firstborn to me? Jacob answered: First make a vow that you will give me your birthright. Esau made the vow and gave his rights as firstborn to Jacob.

I admit my transgressions. My sin is always in front of me.

My heart was grieved and I was pierced within.

Upon arrival this one will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.

The wicked person boasts about his selfish desires. He blesses the covetous, which Jehovah abhors.

They know the judgment of God, that those who commit such things are worthy of death! And yet, they not only do the same, but also approve of those who do them.

They make kings happy with the wicked things they do. They make officials happy with the lies they tell.

Adam said: The woman you put here with me gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it. Then Jehovah God said to the Eve: What is this you have done? The woman answered: The serpent deceived me, and I ate.

Samuel went up to Saul. Saul said: Jehovah bless you, Samuel! I have obeyed Jehovah's command. Samuel asked: Why do I hear the sound of cows and sheep? Saul answered: The army brought them from the Amalekites. They spared the best sheep and cows to sacrifice to Jehovah your God. But the rest they claimed for God and destroyed them.

envies, drunkenness, revelries, and things like these. I forewarn you, even as I did forewarn you, that those who practice such things would not inherit the kingdom of God.

Now the works of the flesh (sinful human nature) are apparent. They are: fornication, uncleanness, loose conduct, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, wrath, contentions, divisions, sects,

First, I will have them pay twice as much for their wickedness and their sin, because they have polluted my land. They have filled my property with the lifeless statues of their detestable and disgusting idols.

Render to her even as she rendered to you. Pay back double to her, double according to her works: in the cup that she has filled, fill double for her!

They may sin against you, for everyone sins. You may become angry with them and hand them over to an enemy far or near who takes them to another country as captives.

There is no man on earth who is righteous and does not sin.

They sing to the tambourine and the lyre, and rejoice to the sound of the pipe. They spend their days in prosperity, and in peace they go down to the grave.

The seeds that fell among the thorns are people who hear the word and go their own way. They are choked with the cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and do not produce fruit.

Though evil is sweet in his mouth and he hides it under his tongue, though he cannot bear to let it go and keeps it in his mouth, yet his food will turn sour in his stomach; it will become the venom of serpents within him. read more.
He will spit out the riches he swallowed. God will make his stomach vomit them up. He will suck the poison of serpents. The fangs of an adder (cobra) will kill him.

We must lie down in our shame and let our humiliation cover us. Ever since we were young, we and our fathers have sinned against Jehovah our God. We have not obeyed Jehovah our God.

Ever since they were young, the people of Israel and Judah have done what I consider evil. The people of Israel have made me furious by what they have done,' says Jehovah.

Rejoice, O young man, in your youth. Let your heart cheer you in your early days. Walk in the ways of your heart, and in the desires of your eyes. Yet you know that God will bring you into judgment for all these things.

Do not remember the sins of my youth or my rebellious ways. O Jehovah, remember me in keeping with your loving kindness and your goodness.

Do not run until your feet are bare and your throats are dry. But you say that it is useless. You love foreign gods and follow them.

But they will answer, It is useless! We will live the way we want to. We will go our own stubborn, evil ways.

You will eat your food by the sweat of your brow until you return to the ground. You came from the ground. For dust you are and to dust you will return.

He said to the woman: I will greatly increase your pains in childbirth; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you. He said to Adam: Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,' cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.

Never forget how you made Jehovah your God angry in the desert. You rebelled against Jehovah from the day you left Egypt until you came here.

Whoever rebels against your commandment, and does not listen to your words in all that you command him must be put to death. Be strong and of a good courage.

Haughty eyes and a proud heart, and the arrogance and pride produced by the wicked are sin.

This is what the Lord Jehovah says: 'People remember how sinful you are because you openly do wrong. You show your sins in everything you do. Because of this you will be taken captive.

Jesus answered: Truly I tell you every one who commits sin is a slave of sin. The slave does not abide in the house forever. The son abides forever.

What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under law, but under grace? God forbid! Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient servants you are his (voluntary) servants because you obey him? This could be obedience to sin with death in view or obedience to righteousness with holiness in view? But thanks to God, that you were the servants of sin yet you became obedient from the heart to the teachings delivered to you. read more.
After being made free from sin, you became servants of righteousness. I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. You once presented your members as servants to uncleanness and to sin. Now you present your members as servants to righteousness and sanctification (purification) (holiness). When you were servants of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.

Come now, let us reason together (make things right) (correct matters) between us! Says Jehovah. Though your sins are like scarlet, they will become as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, they will become as white as wool.

If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

Purify me from sin with hyssop, and I will be clean. Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

Wash me thoroughly from my perversity (iniquity) (guilt), and cleanse me from my sin.

Then his wife Jezebel said: Are you now the ruler of Israel? Get up, eat and be happy. I will give you the garden of Naboth the Jezreelite.

The sin of the young men was very great before Jehovah. For men despised the offering of Jehovah.

After they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled and overcome; the last state is worse with them than the first.

Then it takes along seven other spirits more evil than itself. They enter in and dwell there. The last state of that man becomes worse than the first. It will also be like this with this evil generation.

Your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers are desecrated with sin. You speak lies, and you mutter wicked things.

There is a generation pure in their own eyes, and yet not washed from their filthiness.

The labor of the righteous leads to life. The yield of the wicked is punishment.

Why do the wicked live on, reach old age, and become mighty in power? Their children are established in their presence, and their offspring before their eyes. Their houses are safe and without fear, and no rod of God is upon them. read more.
Their bull breeds without fail and their cow calves and never miscarries. They send out their little ones like a flock, and their children dance around. They sing to the tambourine and the lyre, and rejoice to the sound of the pipe. They spend their days in prosperity, and in peace they go down to the grave. They say to God: 'Leave us alone! We do not desire to know your ways.' Who is the Almighty that we should serve him? And what do we gain if we pray to him?

Adam said: The woman you put here with me gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.

Then come and stand before me in this house. It is called by my name. You say, 'We are safe to do all these abominations.'

The foundation of God stands firm having this seal: Jehovah knows those who belong to him, and: Everyone who names the name of Jehovah is to abstain from wickedness.

Turn away from evil, and do good. Seek peace, and pursue it!

for if you live according to flesh, you are about to die. If by the Spirit, you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

Make your members that are upon the earth dead with regard to fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness (greed), which is idolatry.

([Psalm of David]) Blessed is the person whose transgression is forgiven and whose sin is pardoned. Blessed is the person whom Jehovah no longer accuses of sin and who has no deceitful thoughts.

David also pronounces blessing on the man, to whom God counts righteousness apart from works, saying: Blessed are those whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

Remember this, that the enemy has mocked you, Jehovah. Foolish people have blasphemed your name.

Any who sin deliberately, natives or foreigners, are guilty of treating Jehovah with contempt. They shall be put to death.

You set our sins in front of you. You put our secret sins in the light of your presence.

Some men's sins are known publicly, leading to judgment; and some men's sin becomes known later.

I confess my guilt. My sin troubles me.

King Belshazzar held a great feast for a thousand of his lords, and drank wine with them. While he tasted the wine, Belshazzar commanded to bring the gold and silver vessels which Nebuchadnezzar his father had taken out of the Temple in Jerusalem. This way the king and his lords, his wives and his concubines, might drink from them.

The blood of Christ did even more. Through the eternal Spirit he offered himself without blemish to God and cleansed your conscience from dead works. Now we can serve (worship) the living God.

Therefore leaving the elementary truths of the doctrine of Christ let us move on to maturity. Let us not lay again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God.

The man and his wife heard the sound (voice) of Jehovah God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day. They hid from Jehovah, among the trees of the garden.

He (Adam) answered: I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.

The man who covers his sins will not be blessed; but whoever confesses and leaves them will have mercy.

He comes to men and says: 'I sinned, and perverted what was right, but I did not get what I deserved.'

Everyone who practices (exercises) sin also commits lawlessness, because sin is lawlessness.

Whoever obeys the whole law and yet stumbles in one point is guilty of breaking all of it. For he who said: Do not commit adultery, also said: Do not murder (Greek: phoneuo: kill, slay, murder). Now if you do not commit adultery, but you commit murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.

Jehovah smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: Never again will I curse the ground because of man, for the intent of his heart is evil from childhood. I will never again destroy every living creature, as I have done.

Let my counsel be acceptable to you O King. Stop your sins by being righteous and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. May there be a lengthening of your prosperity.

But if you warn a wicked man to turn from his way and he does not turn from his way, he will die in his iniquity, but you have delivered your life.

If I have concealed my transgressions as others do (like Adam), by hiding my iniquity in my bosom,

The man who covers his sins will not be blessed; but whoever confesses and leaves them will have mercy.

Now then it is no longer I that do it, but the sin that dwells in me.

Your word I have treasured in my heart that I may not sin against you.

I have avoided cruelty because of your word regardless of what others have done.

There you will remember the way you lived and everything you did to dishonor yourselves. You will be disgusted by every wrong thing that you did.

No flesh will be justified before God by works of the law. Knowledge of sin comes from the law.

This law fights against the law that my mind approves of. It makes me a prisoner to the law of sin that is at work in my body.

We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death. Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, that we might walk in the newness of life. If we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we shall be in the likeness of his resurrection. We know this that our old self was impaled with him that the body of sin might be destroyed, that we should no longer be in bondage to sin. He who has died is freed from sin. If we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him. We know that Christ being raised from the dead died no more; death no longer has dominion over him. This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you. No man has greater love then this that a man lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do the things that I command you. I no longer call you servants for the servant does not know what the lord does. I have called you friends; for all things that I heard from my Father, I have made known to you. You did not choose me. I chose you and appointed you. You should go and bear fruit and your fruit should remain. Whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, that you may love one another. If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. I chose you out of the world. The world hates you because you are not of the world. Remember the word I said to you. A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they obeyed my word, they will obey yours also. They will do all these things to you for my name's sake. It is because they do not know the one that sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin. Now they have no excuse for their sin!
