Since the day we heard about you, we have not ceased to pray and make request for you. We pray for you to be filled with the [intimate accurate] knowledge (discernment) (recognition) of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. (Philippians 1:9) (John 17:3)

This is everlasting life that they should have *deep, intimate knowledge of you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have commissioned. *(Greek: ginosko: know, perceive, be sure, understand)

However at that time, you did not know God. You were in bondage to things that are really not gods at all. Now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and poor fundamental things? Do you want to slave for them all over again?

May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, give you a spirit (mental disposition) of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.

And may you know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge. May you be filled with all the fullness of God.

I do this that they may be filled with courage and be united (knit) together in love. I have the full assurance that only true understanding brings. In this way they will accurately know God's secret, which is Christ himself.

My son, take my words to heart and treasure my commandments within you. Pay close attention to wisdom, and let your [mind and] heart (inner being) reach for discernment. Call out for insight. Lift up your voice for understanding.read more.
Search for wisdom as if it were silver. Hunt for it as if it were hidden treasure! If you do these things you will have respect for Jehovah and you will find the true knowledge of God! Jehovah gives wisdom. From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

We cast down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God. We bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

This is the will of God, for your sanctification (holiness) (purification), that you should abstain from fornication. Every one of you should know how to possess his own vessel in holiness and honor, not in the lust of sexual desire like the nations who do not know God.

It is now made known by the Scriptures of the prophets according to the commandment of the everlasting God. It is made known to all nations for the obedience of faith.

This I say therefore, and testify (affirm) in the Lord, that you no longer walk as the nations also walk, in the vanity (futility) (depravity) of their mind (thinking). They are darkened (blinded) (obscured) in their understanding, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their heart. They are past feeling. They have given themselves over to loose conduct, to work all uncleanness with greediness (a lust for more).read more.
But you did not learn Christ that way. You learned him and were taught by him just as truth is in Jesus. You put away your former way (course) (behavior) (conversation) of life, the old self that was corrupt with the lusts of deceit. You are renewed in the spirit (vital principles) (attitude) of your mind (understanding). Put on the new man, that in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

I pray that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment. This way you may approve (test) the things that are excellent (of more value). May you be sincere and without offense (blameless) to others till the day of Christ. Be filled with the fruits of righteousness through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God. Walk worthily of God, fully pleasing him. Bear fruit in every good work, and increase in the knowledge (Greek: epignosis: full discernment, recognition) of God.

In this the children of God and the children of the devil are revealed. Whoever does not practice righteousness is not from God. He who does not love his brother is not from God.

He who does not love does not know God for God is love.

They will be my people, and I will be their God. I will give them the same attitude and the same purpose so that they will respect and reverence me as long as they live. This will be for their good and for the good of their children.

Those who act wickedly against the covenant will be perverted by flatteries. However, the people who know their God will be strong and act effectively.

When I called, you answered me. You made me bold. You strengthened me.

The wicked run when no man pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.

Stephen, full of grace and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people. Certain men arose from the synagogue. It was called the synagogue of the Libertines, Cyrenians, and Alexandrians. Some of them were from Cilicia and Asia. They argued with Stephen. They were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spoke.

Since we have such a hope we use great boldness of speech.

Brace up your minds. Remain sober, and set your hope perfectly on the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

I will be his father. He will be my son. When he does wrong I will correct him just as parents correct children.

Observe the love the Father gave to us that we should be called the children of God. That is what we are! For this reason the world does not know us. This is because it did not know him.

Jehovah disciplines those he loves. In fact he scourges every son (child) he receives.

For whom Jehovah loves He reproves, just like a father corrects the son he loves dearly. (Hebrews 12:6)

Learn this lesson by heart: Jehovah your God disciplined you like parents discipline their children.

I will proclaim the decree of Jehovah: He said to me: You are my Son. Today I have become your Father. (I have begotten you.)

Even if my father and mother abandon (forsake) me, Jehovah will take care of me.

In his holy habitation God is a father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows.

He will call to me: You are my Father, My God, and the rock of my salvation!

Jehovah has compassion for those who reverence him just as a father has compassion for his children.

Can a woman forget her nursing child? Will she have no compassion on the child from her womb? Although mothers forget, I will not forget you.

This is what Jehovah says: I will offer you peace like a river and the wealth of the nations like an overflowing stream. You will nurse and be carried in Jerusalem's arms and cuddled on her knees. As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you. You will be comforted in Jerusalem.

When Israel was a young man, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.

You will then act as true children of your Father in heaven. He gives sunlight to both evil and good people. He sends rain for the just and the unjust.

Go to your room and close the door. Privately pray to your Father. When your Father sees you he will reward you. Large quantities of meaningless words and repetition are not acceptable in prayer. The pagans think their gods will hear long and repetitious prayers. Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.read more.

Jesus said: A man had two sons. The younger one said to him, Father I want my share of the property. He divided his property between his two sons. He spent everything! When a famine spread over that country he was left with nothing. He went to work for a citizen of that country who sent him to his farm to take care of the pigs. He wanted to eat the Carob bean pods the pigs ate, but no one gave him anything to eat. Finally it dawned on him, my father's hired workers have more than they can eat and I am about to starve! I will go to my father and say: 'Father I have sinned against God and against you. I am not fit to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired workers.' He went to his father. He was a long way from home when his father saw him. His heart filled with pity. He ran and threw his arms around his son and kissed him. Not even a goat for me to have a feast with my friends! This son of yours wasted all your property on prostitutes. When he comes home you kill the prize calf for him! The father answered, My son, you are always here. And everything I have is yours! We had to celebrate and be happy. Your brother was dead. Now he is alive! He was lost and now he has been found!'

He that has my commandments, and obeys them loves me. My Father will love the person who loves me. I will love him and disclose myself to him.

Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Your sons will marry you like a young man marries a woman. Your God will rejoice over the same way a bridegroom rejoices over his bride.

Return, you disobedient people, proclaims Jehovah. I am your husband. I will take you, one from every city and two from every family, and bring you to Zion.'

For your Maker is your husband. Jehovah of Hosts is his name! The Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer. He is called the God of all the earth.

Husbands love your wives, even as Christ also loved the congregation and gave himself up for it.

Let us be glad, rejoice, and give honor to him: for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his wife made herself ready.

Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Jehovah reigns! Let the earth rejoice and let the multitude of islands be glad.

Save your people, and bless those who belong to you. Be their shepherd, and carry them forever.

God gave them up to uncleanness because of the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves. They changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creation more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up to vile affections for even their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature. Also the men left the natural use of the woman and burned in their lust, one toward another; men with men working that which is obscene. They receive full recompense due for their error. They did not like to retain God in their knowledge, so God gave them over to a reprobate (depraved) mind, to do things that are not fitting. They are filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, unforgiving, and unmerciful. They know the judgment of God, that those who commit such things are worthy of death! And yet, they not only do the same, but also approve of those who do them.

To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure. Both their mind and their conscience are defiled. They profess that they know God; but deny him by their works! They are detestable, disobedient, and not approved for any good work.

But Pharaoh responded: Who is Jehovah, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I do not know Jehovah, and besides, I will not let Israel go.

My people are fools. They do not know me. They are stupid people. They do not understand. They are experts in doing wrong, and they do not know how to do good.

I testify that they have zeal for God, but not according to [precise and correct] knowledge. They are ignorant of God's righteousness. They seek to establish their own righteousness and have not submitted to the righteousness of God.

Many will say to me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' I will say to them, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you workers of evil.'

The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness. That which is known about God is clear to them, for God revealed it to them.

Thanks to your stubborn and unrepentant heart, you store up wrath for yourself, in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God.

They will render vengeance to those who do not know God, and to those who do not obey the good news of our Lord Jesus.
