Whom have I in heaven but thee? And apart from thee there is nothing upon the earth that I desire.

As the hart pants after the water brooks, so does my soul pant after thee, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; when shall I come and appear before God?

Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth sons; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee; my soul thirsts for thee; my flesh longs for thee in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water; in this manner I beheld thee in holiness when I beheld thy power and thy glory. Thus will I bless thee in my life; in thy name shall I lift up my hands. But the younger widows refuse, for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they desire to marry,

I stretched forth my hands unto thee; my soul thirsted after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.

but I say unto you, That whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O LORD, we wait for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name and to the remembrance of thee. With my soul I desire thee in the night; yea, even as long as the spirit is within me I will seek thee early: for as long as thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.

Thou shalt not desire thy neighbour's wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour's house, his field or his manslave or his maidslave, his ox or his ass or any thing that is thy neighbour's.

I delight to do thy will, O my God; thy law is within my bowels.

For this cause God gave them up unto shameful affections, for even their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature;

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manslave, nor his maidslave, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them, but transgressors shall be imprisoned in their own sin.

I have longed for thy saving health, O LORD, and thy law is my delight.

For the will of God is your sanctification, that ye should separate yourselves from fornication, that every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honesty,

For it should suffice us that during the time past of our life we had done the will of the Gentiles, when we conversed in lasciviousness, lusts, drunkenness, gluttony, orgies, and abominable idolatries.

Therefore God also gave them over to the lusts of their own hearts for uncleanness, to contaminate their own bodies between themselves,

And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth or glory, nor the life of thy enemies, neither yet hast asked long life, but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou may judge my people, over whom I have placed thee as king, wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will also give thee riches and wealth and glory such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall any after thee have the like.

For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night, and God said, Ask what you wish that I shall give thee. And Solomon said, Thou hast shown unto thy slave David, my father, great mercy, according to the way he walked before thee in truth and in righteousness and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great mercy that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy slave king instead of David my father; and I am but a tender young man; I do not know how to go out or come in.read more.
And thy slave is in the midst of thy people whom thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. Give, therefore, thy slave a hearing heart to judge thy people that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this thy so great a people? And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing and hast not asked for thyself long life neither hast asked riches for thyself nor hast asked the life of thine enemies, but hast asked for thyself understanding to hear judgment, behold, I have done according to thy words: behold, I have given thee a wise and understanding heart so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches and glory so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee in all thy days. And if thou wilt walk in my ways, keeping my statutes and my commandments as thy father David walked, then I will lengthen thy days.

Let no one say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God; for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither does he tempt anyone: But each one is tempted, when they are drawn away of their own lust and enticed. Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin; and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death.

Therefore go ye and learn what this is, I will have mercy and not sacrifice, for I am not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.

knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts

And if any of you lacks wisdom, let them ask of God (who gives abundantly to all, and without reproach), and it shall be given them.

among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind and were by nature the children of wrath, even as all the others.

Follow after charity and earnestly pursue spiritual gifts, but above all, that ye may prophesy. For he that speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not unto men, but unto God, for no one understands him, even though by the Spirit he speaks mysteries. But he that prophesies speaks unto men for edification and exhortation and comfort.read more.
He that speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself, but he that prophesies edifies the congregation . I would that ye all spoke with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied, for greater is he that prophesies than he that speaks with tongues, unless he interprets, that the congregation may receive edifying.

I hate, I despise your solemnities, and I will not savour your assemblies. Though ye offer me your burnt offerings and your presents, I will not accept them; neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts. Take away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy instruments.read more.
But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.

and chiefly those that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise dominion; presumptuous, arrogant, they are not afraid to speak evil of the higher powers;

Now ye are the body of Christ and members in particular. And God did set certain ones in the congregation : first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that faculties, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? do all have faculties?read more.
Do all have gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But earnestly pursue the best gifts, and yet I show unto you a more excellent way.

Jesus said unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour comes when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem shall ye worship the Father. Ye worship what ye know not; we worship what we know, for saving health is of the Jews. God is a Spirit and those that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Therefore when he came into the world, he said, Sacrifice and offering thou dost not desire, but a body hast thou prepared me; in burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, Behold, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me) to do thy will, O God.read more.
Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou dost not desire, neither hadst pleasure therein, which are offered by the law; then he said, Behold, I come to do thy will, O God. The Word is faithful, If anyone desires the office of a bishop, , he desires a difficult ministry.

For those that are of the Christ have crucified the flesh with its affections and lusts.

For those that are according to the flesh know the things that are of the flesh; but those that are according to the Spirit, the things that are of the Spirit. For the prudence of the flesh is death, but the prudence of the Spirit, life and peace, because the prudence of the flesh is enmity against God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, neither indeed can it.read more.
So then, those that are carnal cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, because the Spirit of God dwells in you. Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened; burnt offering and sin offering thou hast not required. Then said I, Behold, I come; in the volume of the book it is written of me, I delight to do thy will, O my God; thy law is within my bowels.

Behold, thou dost desire truth in the inward parts, and in the secret things thou hast made me to know wisdom.

And this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awaken ourselves out of sleep, for now is our saving health nearer than when we believed. The night is past, and the day is come; let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us clothe ourselves with the weapons of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day, not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.read more.
But be clothed with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not listen to the flesh, to fulfil its desires.

Therefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not work the righteousness of God.

Flee also youthful lusts, but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with those that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

as obedient sons, not conforming yourselves with the former desires that you had before in your ignorance, but as he who has called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from the carnal desires which war against the soul

Since the Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, be ye also armed with the same thought; for he that has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so that now the time that remains in the flesh, he might live, not unto the lusts of men, but unto the will of God. And it seems strange to those that speak evil of you, that ye do not run with them to the same unchecked dissolution; the same shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead.

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary the one to the other, so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

And I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) dwells no good thing; for I have the desire, but I am not able to perform that which is good.

Where do the wars and disputes come from among you? From here that is to say, of your lusts which fight in your members?
