'Death' in the Bible

As He was telling them these things, suddenly one of the leaders came and knelt down before Him, saying, “My daughter is near death, but come and lay Your hand on her, and she will live.”

“Listen! We are going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn Him to death.

The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for false testimony against Jesus so they could put Him to death.

When daybreak came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people plotted against Jesus to put Him to death.

Then He said to them, “I assure you: There are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God come in power.”

Then He said to them, “My soul is swallowed up in sorrow —to the point of death. Remain here and stay awake.”

The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, but they could find none.

You have heard the blasphemy! What is your decision?”And they all condemned Him to be deserving of death.

I tell you the truth: There are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God.”

They appeared in glory and were speaking of His death, which He was about to accomplish in Jerusalem.

But I will show you the One to fear: Fear Him who has authority to throw people into hell after death. Yes, I say to you, this is the One to fear!

The chief priests and the scribes were looking for a way to put Him to death, because they were afraid of the people.

Neither has Herod, because he sent Him back to us. Clearly, He has done nothing to deserve death.

A third time he said to them, “Why? What has this man done wrong? I have found in Him no grounds for the death penalty. Therefore, I will have Him whipped and then release Him.”

Then the Jews said, “Now we know You have a demon. Abraham died and so did the prophets. You say, ‘If anyone keeps My word, he will never taste death—ever!’

Jesus, however, was speaking about his death, but they thought He was speaking about natural sleep.

He said this to signify what kind of death He was about to die.

So Pilate told them, “Take Him yourselves and judge Him according to your law.”“It’s not legal for us to put anyone to death,” the Jews declared.

They said this so that Jesus’ words might be fulfilled signifying what kind of death He was going to die.

Saul agreed with putting him to death.On that day a severe persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout the land of Judea and Samaria.

Though they found no grounds for the death penalty, they asked Pilate to have Him killed.

Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin in the likeness of Adam’s transgression. He is a prototype of the Coming One.

so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace will reign through righteousness, resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

because we know that Christ, having been raised from the dead, will not die again. Death no longer rules over Him.

When this corruptible is clothedwith incorruptibility,and this mortal is clothedwith immortality,then the saying that is written will take place:Death has been swallowed up in victory.

He has delivered us from such a terrible death, and He will deliver us. We have put our hope in Him that He will deliver us again

To some we are an aroma of death leading to death, but to others, an aroma of life leading to life. And who is competent for this?

Now if the ministry of death, chiseled in letters on stones, came with glory, so that the Israelites were not able to look directly at Moses’ face because of the glory from his face—a fading glory—

For we who live are always given over to death because of Jesus, so that Jesus’ life may also be revealed in our mortal flesh.

because he came close to death for the work of Christ, risking his life to make up what was lacking in your ministry to me.

During His earthly life, He offered prayers and appeals with loud cries and tears to the One who was able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence.

Now many have become Levitical priests, since they are prevented by death from remaining in office.

By faith Enoch was taken away so he did not experience death, and he was not to be found because God took him away. For prior to his removal he was approved, since he had pleased God.
